Hi, maybe the two components Interlux paint you are taking about is "Perfection". If this is the paint, it is not Epoxy based, but a two components polyurethane paint. Polyurethane paint exist in both one part ( like Interlux Brightside ) and two parts ( like Perfection ). You are right, once mixed, the two components paint must be all used or discarded. However, the two components type offer a harder ( way harder ) finish which resist abration a lot better. Another drawback of the two components is the high toxicity, need very good respirator. Good luck with your project and jeep posting.
Thanks a lot for your support. Yest, you're right, I meant Perfection. Honestly, I haven't tried it yet as I had leftover Brightside from previous projects. But I heard that Perfection isn't required to brush after rolling it. I might give it a try for internal surfaces.
Great job! Well done
Thanks a lot!
Hello boat buddy! I think you should actually apply several more layers of Bondo paste! And then you know.... sanding and sanding! until it is the way you like it. The truth is that since you are not willing to sand for a long time, when starting a project on a boat, that person is better off buying a new boat and not second-hand! One day my fingers are going to fall off my hands on the floor from spending so much time sanding!!!! 😂😂😂 Aaah! A question.... What do you have planned for the future? Bimini or dodger? 👋👋👋
Hello and welcome! Yes, I agree with you, more bondo and more sanding 😅🤪🥵😭. I have a canvas bimini with a few cracked SS tubes after an accident. I loved fully enclosed bimini, especially on the anchor and when the rain was outside. I'm thinking of rebuilding it back, but I might build it with a hard top, solar panels, and maybe rain water collecting setup...
@@Sailing_Victoria it's a good idea!
Great videos . Can't wait to see her painted. It's got to close to painting.
Thanks a lot. It's coming.
Looking good! Keep on plugging away at it. It will look good with some paint on it.
Thanks for your support! Yes, it's a big milestone even though a lot of work ahead.
Well done old chap. Great work. Best wishes from Plymouth.
Thanks a lot. Trying to be within the budget and make it the best 😂.
Looks like the Engine compartment repair playlist is backwards? Episode 1 shows up for me at the end of the playlist etc 🙂
Sorry about that, I fixed it now. And I will check the rest playlists too. Thanks for watching.
Someone was improvising a lot when they made that engine mount 🙂 What were the aluminium brackets screwed/bolted into, some kind of bulkhead which is glassed into the boat?
I wish I new earlier about these improvisations🤣. The fact is the aluminum brackets were the only structural pieces of the construction. The rest was holded by the gravity and best wishes.
nice work as always Ivan .. keep going 🙂
Thanks a lot
I always enjoy your work!!! How do you get that skills ??
Thanks for your support. I'm curious DIYed, mostly by trial and error and watching other good folks, besides reading instructions and taking extra patience to the details.
An interesting way of adding insulation while still keeping a practical, easy to clean, surface. How much difference does it make to the cabin temperature and condensation, compared to before?
Thanks for support. Yes, it was the initial plan. It was pretty worm inside last April after upgrade. I didn't noticed any moisture buld ups. But what I noticed is that I can heat inside of the boat to any comfortable temperature. It wosn't too hot inside this summer either. But since I rebuilt also big chank of the deck, it should be much notisable this winter... And I love new dust collectors🤣. Every extra shelf is counted.
Yes, but I still have some feelings that are endless sanding-fairing processes 😂.
Your getting close to the finish line . Soon you will be able to paint.
You’re doing a great job on the deck.A long process but at least it won’t leak at all.
Thanks a lot. Yes, I still trying to find that shy light in the end of the tonnel🤣. And no leak is one of the goals.
Hi Ivan , all caught up on the progress so far .. great work. As for the brightside .. maybe try thinning the last coat so it flows smoother, also when polishing just use the compound and no water as itll dilute the abrasive
Thanks for the advice and support. I might need to dilute even all layers starting from primer as it becomes bumpy from the first layer. But I did an experiment with almost dry roller - sounds like it's the technique that I should try next time as well. Also, the polishing compound manual said that the surface must be wet and the compound is getting dry and solid pretty quickly. It looks like it's water-based.
It is a shame the boat was constructed in such a way that you could not properly inspect the area where the chainplates were connected (without deconstructing the whole interior). Very scary how bad the wood was underneath the chainplate, once you got access to that area.
Yes, I totally agree with you. It's an old boat, and it's hard to say what was original design as I still keep finding strange "repair work" here and there😂.
Is that a Bosh grinder? and what guard /dust collector do you have on it?
Yes, it's the cheapest Bosh, but I love it. I use this Grinder Dust Shroud... www.amazon.ca/dp/B086PJQC2G?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. I had to cut a bigger hole, but that's the only issue with it. It works perfectly, especially with the dust separator v.3.0 ua-cam.com/video/6qc5oyt-pp4/v-deo.htmlsi=j0qAH7axezpw00Fb
1st view!
Thanks a lot.
Can you list the name of the device you used to check the tension please?
Yes, this one - Loos & Co & Co PT-2M Sailboat Rigging Tension Gauge a.co/d/fLaHnVQ
Okei - one big part of the project is almost done. This has been behind the hard work and it's been nice to follow all Yours videos. These vidoes could be some kind tutorial serie and present that how to every things must done a right way and carefully. I'm sure that as the Victoria is repair and redy to sail again it's very strong boat and a grand children can sail Victoria in future, too⛵
Thanks for the good words. I'm sure she will...
Well done !
Thanks a lot.
making progress
Slowly but surely 😅.
Big step Ivan, nice work!
Thanks a lot. More to come...
Get yourself a respirator save your brain!! and safety glasses, ask Mads from (SailIfe) what its like to get resin in your eye!!
Ok - those two big holes are repair now. Well done. You have many handy trics as You to do a mold. For example those hatch collar (mayby a wrong words) that You did the previous video. As always - nice watching about what You to do. I'm watched this whole series from begin and I can say that You are done hard work and much better boat than it was a brand new IMO.
Thanks a lot for your support. The deck is curved where the hatches are. Also, the portholes are bent over time. So, I thought that something straight in between would solve both issues in one go. Also, the deck is weaker in this spot because the openings and the collar (or whatever they called it) will make it stiffer. At least some feelings of it. I checked by jumping in between the holes...
I can’t believe you have not not more subscribers??? This is great UA-cam channel
Thanks a lot. I think that UA-cam does not offer much as a suggestion to the viewers. Also, 70% of viewers are not subscribed. I hope to get some benefits from the videos at some point. For now, it's pure altruism🤣.
To pour from that square can place the can in front of you with the pour cap on your left, gently tilt the can to your right. This puts the pour spout at the top of the can as you continue to tilt, lift the can off the floor as you continue to tilt and pour your contents out.
Yes, this will work after some air pocket appears in the can. And I can make some degree tilt down to catch resin with measure cap. But it's fully filled and resin dripping to the top of the can.
@@Sailing_Victoria Excellent ! You do good work. I respect your tenacity.
Thanks a lot for your support.
Great job, the deck is looking good.
Thanks a lot. Can't wait to paint it...
One part of this long process is almost done. Nice to see about how You to do everything and to solve all problems what You sometimes is. Yes - of cource You have a lot to do before You and Yours crew can go to sail but after every video You are close that day...
Thanks for your encouraging words, as always. Slowly but surely, she will get to the better days.
Great videos love watching your channel, I’m doing similar work on my boat I’ve replaced most of the deck core , because of the British weather I’ve done the job from the inside , it’s nice also because I have less fairing to do and you keep the original outer deck , but it’s hard working upside down on the side decks , I’ve used epoxy but it’s so expensive, I kind wish I had used polyester like you , keep up the great work 👍👍👍
Thanks for the support. I can imagine how much pain you have had during the process. I was told that epoxy underwater and the rest depends on the pocket size and willingness of spending money. So I stick entirely to polyester resin. and it's super easy to work with.
She's getting there.
@@anthonywhitehouse2295 Thanks
I have seen some glass stay white like that from another channel, I think he was in Sweden. Fully saturated it still looked kind of dry. Looks great keep up the good work.
Thanks for your support. I think it's supposed to become white after curing. It's more transparent when it's still wet. Probably the quantity of the layers also adding some effects.
If you buy the 40 amp version, you can limit it to 20 amp. If you install a switch h on the limiting wire, you can choose 20 or 40 amp.
Thanks for the idea, but unfortunately, I didn't get it.
Another good video. make boat is she ? How much more have you got to do ? Where in the world are you?
Thanks a lot. Improvements can be only only limited by imagination. The plan minimum is making her sailable. The location is Vancouver, BC, Canada.
@@Sailing_Victoria keep the videos coming. Keeps me going until I can get to work on my own boat.
Ok, deal😂.
I have a small delaminated part on my deck too. After some thoughts I decided to fix the core from inside the boat. What’s your opinion ?
I did the same in the past under the mast. It took me 10 times more effort than now. Sanding and laminating above the head is not a very fun and easy job.
Great job, well done.
@@juliedouglas2888 thanks a lot
What a great channel. This boat is getting better and better, cant wait to see her done ,
Thanks a lot. I can't wait to see her sailing, too.
yes definitely use peel ply ... its great stuff ... saves on sanding and soak up excess resin for a stronger glass job.
Thanks. I have a roll ready to try. The thing is that no one ever mentioned this combination with polyester resins, but it worked great with epoxy.
Back to deck job - nice. Mayby I said this earlier but this boat will be more stronger than it was as new. Mayby Victoria sails 2025 again...
Thanks, I would say that it's about 50% by the deck surface that is tackled so far. Sailing next year looks very feasible.
Buy you a fin roller to work out any air in the glass.
@cals4200 I have it. But sometimes it can be worked out with roller or brush, especially on small areas.
Proper way to repair!
@@Shirrif Thanks, I hope so🤣
Great to get the boys involved
Yes, they want to come and help for a long time. But it was very tricky to do so.
What You study as a young You handled it older. It's good to teach the crew a different jobs as early as possible - I mean a basic knots and skill of repair. And yes - good job from father, too. Double job but it's done anyway.
Thanks for your support. I hope that kids will take away something from it.
Looks good, should be fine. Keep up the good work.
Thanks a lot
That’s the real life of a sailor. Resin, repairs, constructions etc and sometimes sailing 😅 My favourite YT channel already!
Thanks a lot for the truth 🤣 and support. I believe that ratio is directly based on what and when was done or permanently fixed on any boat.
Nice job again with this porthole frame. A lot to do but You did it. You have almost always some challenge but You manage them very well.
Thanks a lot. It's just another challenge 🤣.
Good works as always - try - not work - think - find a solution and implement it. As I said mayby earlier this serie is very enjoyable to follow👍
Many thanks for your encouragement. This is the best enjoyable part of this project to find solutions to any circumstances.
I'd leave some metal inside when you work on it so you can find the beam with a magnet next time
Maybe it's a good idea, thanks for advice
I really admire your work ethics and ingenuity. Can't wait to see the plug in action!
Thanks a lot. It was a challenge this time to make straight and square
Make things look so simple!! Thank you !!🙏
You are very welcome. It's always difficult only the first time...
