I would love to learn more about the operation of your cogen facility. There are a lot of cogen facilities operating on municipal sewage plant and solid waste landfills that are problematic
The claim that the harbor Jettys were responsible for the build up of sand was a complete lie!!! The so-called build up of sand at the river mouth didn't start until after the 90s. the City of Santa Cruz lied to the Samnta Cruz citizensz of Santa Cruz County.
Professor Professor Pro fussor
This is entirely unhelpful
How to apply operator mam
Im stp operator in philipnes
Nice mam
love these updates. Thank you.
Skillfully presented.
One can only hope that those living along that cliff paid for the project. They are the only ones benefitting from it.
This is completely ridiculous. In a good year, the river runs along the stone jetty and it's wonderful. Why do they suddenly want to bring in earthmoving equipment? We never had that before. And if there's a lagoon, leave it alone. Or let it breach. Not really so dangerous, despite the effort to drum up hysteria. And those pipes along the jetty are an ugly, pointless, and anti-nature boondoggle. Let the river and the ocean do their thing! They're wiser than us.
I think the point is the lagoon is no longer functioning normally because of the construction of the Seabright jetty, which greatly altered the sand regime. So I'm assuming the pipes are an attempt to restore some kind of stable state similar to pre-development patterns. Perhaps I've misunderstood the situation, though.

Great video. Can’t say enough about you guys being willing to put out this kind of info and give a video tour. Super informative and helpful. Thank you
Wonder why there’s to washing department for plastic jars and bottles with leftover food. Sounds like an opening for a new job
Well there's so much food residue contamination that it would be too much extra work and it would be expensive to install, not to metion how would they find every single food contaminated item?
get a grip. I lived here for some 20 years. 1977-78 rains far surpased this year, 2023 or any other year. And as for the SUMMER back up, it is usually small and a Shovel will open a breach. So just do it if your so concerned. As for habitat, what we are discussing is the natural habitat. the sand accumulates every year. And there is at least 15 Feet More sand in winter than summer. 15 feet. in 77-78 there was at least 5 feet deep wood along the harbor to boardwalk area.
This project has totally failed and the given reasons for doing it are proven false!! The City of Santa Cruz has openly lied to the public on this matter!!
Yes. some truths are obvious and the truth is rudely exposed by their work here. The natural habitat is a natural sand bar. which almost never happens. Not a vast bureaucracy and pipe system.. I lved in SC area for over 25 years. Lived and jogged this beach for 2 years. And at the light house for a year. I don't recall this phenomenon at this level. And we are in a so called drought....
@@TheHypnotstCollector The Sand bar was NEVER a part of the San Lorenzo river nor was building the yacht harbor the cause of its creation. I grew in Santa Cruz and was there before it was built and after and for many years no sand bar ever happened there, that was a lie created bymthe city O Santa Cruz. Plus whie the river flowed through the town NO Vegitation should have ever been allowed to grow in the river, that was causing unusual high water levels and the ground underneath the rocks in its levee to get saturated. both of these were totally ignored by the City of Santa Cruz. The fact remains that no sand bar across the river mouth appeared until after 2013.
@@brianmacy518 I agree with you. I'll check my comment and modify..... There was Nothing like we see in this story. And no vegetation in the river. That cures the homeless camping issue and flooding. But Santa Cruz is controlled by the pink unicorn alphabet crowd and has been for over 45 years. I went to UCSC in c.1976 "and let me tell you..." And I lived on The Esplanade in 1976, then near boardwalk 1977, in Boulder Creek late 1977....I had to move::: 77-78 was The record year for rain. a good 13ft. River did not overflow its banks. Then Branciforte 1/3 mile to beach. I ran the beach every day for 2 years, 78-79. Been visiting the boardwalk and beach since 1966. moved to sierra's in 2001.
@@TheHypnotstCollector I was 2 years old when I moved to Santa Cuz from Fresno. I graduated from Harbor High in 1973, I left Santa Cruz january of 1976 and eventhen there was absolutely no san bar there. the area between the boardwalk and the River was at one time a "wetlands the City drained to build there. I had a photo take wj]hen there was no amusement park called the boardwalk there. Asdlo there was no lagoon or sandbar. The water in the river at that point was sahllow enough a horse and buggy could be driven doen there in the existing water.
This was a waste of money..someone lied..it absolutely was a fail project..& continue wasting money as of today . Still moving sand around like the Flintstones...grade F

Millions of tons of toilet paper is flushed away every day. We should collect it for recycling. It could be used to make many items such as paper plates, drinking cups and straws. They could be dyed brown to hide any leftover impurities.
Wondering if a large rain still breaches the bank? Waves at rivermouth improve? Degrade?
Yes, a large rain event would open the river. The question about waves at the rivermouth is a complicated one. Please contact Project Manager Scott Ruble at (831) 420-5162 to discuss this. Thank you.

Grade III operator from another Bay Area Wastewater Plant. Excellent presentation! Thank you making it 🙂
Can I recycle spiral notebooks without separating the metal spiral from the paper? i.e. just throw the whole thing into the blue bin?
The metal spiral portion should be removed before placing paper and paperboard parts in the Blue Recycling Bin. Please see our Guide at www.cityofsantacruz.com/RecycleRight

Well done video.
Outstanding facility. Extremely nicely explained by your team. Extremely impressive 🙏🙏.
Nice for children but would be nice to have an adult-focused version.
Excellent
I FREAKING LOVE WATER!!!!!
11:05 He says there isn't any alcohol in the mixed liquor. That's not exactly correct. There are actually a number of different alcohols and metabolites produced in mixed liquor owing to a bunch of fermentation processes occurring during the aerobic stages of treatment. However, one would probably not want to drink this mixture because of the extreme pathogen load and horrible taste. Not to mention that it's only very small traces of alcohols in the liquor. You'd get sick and die before you got drunk.
Good idea
great work, but gosh...that's a lot of concreet 00
Keep on building our trail, don't get stalled, let's keep the tracks and use them both, rail and trail!
I liked this video. Thanks for putting it together. The staff at the plant seem to enjoy what there doing. Keep up the good work.
