My name is Yvonne, I am a potter from Vancouver BC. To me, pottery is my meditation, my getaway from stress and life. This channel is my Vlog of my pottery journey to show others the beauty of pottery, how relaxing it is, and how you can do it too!
As I mould clay, a feeling of calming and relaxation flows through me. It is a meditative process, which is why I stay silent as I work.

    Hello, wondering if you fired the piece after the underglaze, then painted the bead glaze? Or was it all fired only once? Thanks!

    • @YvonneCeramics
      @YvonneCeramics Місяць тому

      I painted yellow underglaze and then put on the bead glaze. The underglaze can be painted on either at leatherhard or after bisque firing. After painting the bead glaze, I would do a normal glaze firing

    So it seems the clay was only on the mold for about 10 minutes and the designs popped right out. Wow! Mine always stick. I'm going to try to leave them in the mold longer. Thank you for the video. ❤

    • @YvonneCeramics
      @YvonneCeramics Місяць тому

      If you’re talking about the silicone mold, it also depends on the shape of the mold. If the mold has a huge undercut, it would be harder to demold without breaking it. Another strategy you could try is to dust the mold with corn starch before putting clay inside the mold.

    Please let me know what the exact type of paper this is: rice paper, decoupage paper, or just paper from a pack of origami folding paper? I want to try this technique, it looks like the pattern was made like a “transfer” of the print from the paper. Will the ink from standard origami paper transfer onto damp clay? Please let me know ❤

    Why would there be any need to add gum, the only thing that will have evaporated surely will be just water so any gum in the original mix will still be there...?...or am I wrong?

I'm wondering if you would possibly do a tutorial for the eye balls - those are amazing and I would love to try to make some for Halloween next year with my kids (I have 6 kids and 2 grandkids - but my grand babies are still too young to do pottery - oldest is only 3!) Thanks for the video! What thickness do you use for the walls? I am having problems with my walls slumping

    • @YvonneCeramics
      @YvonneCeramics 3 місяці тому

      I don’t really measure the wall thickness when I coil build because I can always scrap clay away once it hardens. If your walls are slumping, you probably take the vessel out of the bowl too soon. You need to let the clay hardens a bit first.

    • @YvonneCeramics

      Try not to handle them too much especially after rolling them out. You could try to roll your slab on a bat and then cut on it so you don’t have to peel the clay and end up warping it

    I had the hardest time getting the forms out of the bowl. Is there a trick to it? Do you lift the forms out of the bowl when it is right side up? Or did you lift the bowl off the forms when the bowl is upside down?

    • @YvonneCeramics
      @YvonneCeramics 4 місяці тому

      I would wait till the bowl is somewhat harden, so not wet. Then I flip it upside down. I also had trouble taking it out in the beginning but I found that using duct tape to create some kind of a loop and stick a piece onto the form. This way, you would have a way to "lift" the form out of the clay. If your clay isn't wet, this duct tape trick should work.

    What is the brand name of the white glaze?

  • @LUCIDELLA
    @LUCIDELLA 4 місяці тому

    Will you please what needle size this is pls? I think spray guns like this come in 0.2mm to 0.5mm being the largest and is that big enough for glaze and under glaze particles?

    • @YvonneCeramics
      @YvonneCeramics 4 місяці тому

      I don’t have the size on top of my head but I believe it is small, probably 0.5. When I spray underglaze, I water it down instead of using it straight from the jar and I spray many more layers. Sometimes it does get stuck and I need to use water to flush it out.
