He can be enlightened and still egoic. At least according to Zen having an enlightenment experience doesn't make you a superiorly ethical Saint it just shows you a glimpse of non duality
I think one could argue Homura pulling Madoka from the greater Law of Cycles may be fully consistent with Homura's wish: "This time...I want to be strong enough to protect her!" If Homura considers Madoka's god state and fate to be a bad outcome that needs protecting from (imo there's ample reason for her to think this so it's v likely), then pulling Madoka out and giving her the best and safest life possible (as Homura perceives it) would be the ultimate fulfillment of her original wish. It all hinges on how Homura defines/perceives danger and protection.
More thoughts! Madoka's wish was "to erase all witches from existence before they're even born... *with my own hands.*" That last phrase is crucial, because it alone renders Madoka and Homura's wishes irreconcilably disparate. That means they might go back and forth in a cycle of granting each other's wishes for who knows how long, until they can resolve the conflict. I see two potential ways out: 1. Homura eventually comes to see Madoka's Godoka fate as okay and happy, no longer a thing she needs protection from. Her wish is basically fulfilled thanks to cognitive behavioral therapy \o/ 2. Homura keeps Madoka's assertion close to heart, that she could never leave her friends, and concludes Madoka can't stand being alone. In order to protect her from isolation, Homura *joins* Madoka and transcends matter to become part/companion of the Law of Cycles. Perhaps she finds a way to bring other loved ones up so that Madoka can still hang out with them. Somehow, I don't think Madoka would be cool with that. More interesting to me, perhaps Godura would get some cool additional universe-defining powers of her own. I like to think Madoka confesses she sees all of existence as a part of her. Suddenly Homura's charge gets much, much bigger, and her abilities grow to match it. Protecting a whole universe is no small feat. Maybe it even means Homura can solve the entropy problem that started this whole mess. And they live(?) happily ever after!
Man, if the incubators were so smart and logical, how did it not occur to any of them to explain the heat death entropy issue to everyone they could find? Eventually, *someone* would have just wished for it to be solved. I haven't consumed much beyond the core 12 episodes + Rebellion, so I hope this has already been addressed in canon! It would be really interesting to see why such an easy-seeming answer wouldn't actually work >:3
I'm playing the devil's advocate here, but in defence of those who only think about the the fight between Rock Lee and Gaara: that fight goes very fucking hard
Chapter 54 of arc 6 is one of the best re:zero chapters for me There is some later in arc 6 that i think are THE best of re:zero but they happen later Still didnt finish arc 7 so dont know what will be later
21:59 another detail about her witch form, is how it was a day of the dead modify going on, with the skeleton and flowers, possibly symbolize that to Homura, her death wouldn't be something to feel sad about it, but rather something to celebrate
This is a thorough psychoanalysis! I love that you brought up the tie-in to Buddism, the cycle of Samsara and Christianity. The religious significance of Madoka and Homura is one of the most interesting factors I find
Gojo is a VERY close second. People make the gap between the two (regardless of who they’re arguing for) larger then it should be. Anyway with the same amount of time as Sukuna (especially because of his six eyes) Gojo could definitely become the most resourceful as he’s practically matched him on most occasions, whilst having the better CT/sure hit (but not overall domain due to barrier less) but that’s up for debate really.
I do agree, he is the most resourceful sorcerer to date. It’s shown that he’s lasted over several eras regardless of his form, as well as cleared two of them while alive for good reason
Yeah, for example gojo's limitless creates infinite space between the numbers 1 and 2, 1 being him and 2 being those around him, sukuna's cleave just cuts through everything between 3 and -1 which bypasses gojo's infinity since it doesn't have to go through 1 or 2
the beauty of certain series like jjk is that there are many aspects of it to enjoy. some like it for the animation, plot, power system, writing, etc. this is why fandoms exist. and its rude to diss someone who is expressing what they love about a series
I always thought Gojo acting like an idiot to make everyone around him, especially his friends and students, didn't feel intimidated. He desperately try to make everyone see him as Gojo Satoru, not The Strongest Sorcerer
Woo! Finally some fresh observations on rebellion! Never noticed the dance parallels in the beginning of the movie and the end. I knew the facts existed, just never put them together. This was a treat to listen to.
Really great video essay! It connected lots of thoughts I had about the character in a coherent way. I especially liked the contextualization of the buddhist subtext. Thank you so much for your hard work!

"all the different Homuras" *laughs in different Homuras from the new trailer*

I think the name "the most ancient and oldest story" fits him better.
You truly are an amazing guy, Natsuki Subaru

It's likely that kenjaku was setting geto up To take Tons of negative thoughts and energy Exercising tons of them
The Cecilius chapters in arc 8 with Al being alongside him, tops this.
What does it mean to play God? Do we have the strength to change our own fate? Do we even have what it takes to change our own Destiny?
This leads me to wonder, how does Gojo see other people? The same way they see him? For their potential and power? Does he also put labels on people?
Even if the morrow is barren of promises, nothing shall forestall his return.

peak shit man
Worst arc for our guy but the best one in the series

Handsome lad
The only thing I’m interested is who packed him up in there Heiden era
I believe he turning himself into a cursed object - I don’t think he got packed
What are you thoughts on arc 7 and 8?
Song name?
What’s your t2 dynamic in the arc?
"It is better to rule in Hell...and make incubators suffer for eternity...than to serve in Heaven."
Okuyasu Nijimura from Jojo part four if he would not be a dummy
