If you think the Church is really cursing the world, then you have it backwards. The world curses itself by rejection of the faith. Proclaiming that they are anathema for rejecting the faith is actually the greatest expression of love, and prayers that they will repent and come to the faith. Read the prophets of the Old Testament who regularly proclaimed kings and all of Israel was basically anathema. This should happen more often, and we as Christians should spend much more time in prayer for the world.
