Every once in a while, I have to go to youtube and listen to some Go-Betweens. So good. They should be so much more widely appreciated. This song stays with you. I was lucky to see them on their US tour in the mid to late 80s.

Great tune. One of my favorites from the 80's college years.

Somewhere in my garage, there is a box labeled cassettes, within that box is at least 1 Velvet Elvis cassette. I think they played at an Alternative Music Club called the Highlander, in Johnson City, Tn. late 1980's or early 1990's. We had a great music scene in those days, bands from Nashville, Atlanta, Chapel Hill, Knoxville and local talent would play weekly at 3 different venues.

Summer of 1986 I sang this in a cover band I was in. Number of ways to look up song lyrics in 1986: one - buy the album, and even then there was definitely no guarantee they would be included! So if we didn't know, we just made it up!

I loved that this song was the penultimate track on their debut album. Any number of bands would’ve featured this kicking tune first off the bat, but The Beat pulls the rug from under you right when you think things will end on a cheery, laid-back note.
