Unboxing My First Full Frame Camera ( Sony A7Cii w/ 28-60mm )
I love my Sony APS-C camera's, but I've had the itch for a full frame camera. I purchased this A7Cii from eBay, the sellers name is 6AVE Electronics. For lenses, I ordered the Viltrox 20mm f2.8, and 40mm f2.5 from Amazon during their Black Friday sales.

Does The Satechi Hub For Mac Mini Have Issues?
Переглядів 3,1 тис.4 місяці тому
A subscriber asked me about some rumored issues concerning the Satechi hub. I've looked into these as well, and it seems that a few people have reported some problems. It's unclear to me if this is in regard to the original hub or the current version? I do some "non scientific" testing here to see if I can pin point any of these potential issues. Thank you to MonsieurSchue for pointing this out...

nicely done ✅ love the setup do you have link to the arm for monitor and the lights your using? Thanks 😊
I use the Ulanzi ones mostly, but any magnetic ball head will work great. I use 6 of them. 4 for lights (2 upper, and 2 lower), 1 for the monitor, and one for a action camera, so I can record some talking head at the same time. Here's the Amazon affiliate link amzn.to/49eMgtG Thanks for watching!

I missed making videos as well. Thanks for watching, and for the kind words!
Nice!! Jeff which microphone is that? Is that the Tonor Mic handle on Amazon? Do you like it? What size is the flag and where did you have your logo printed? Thanks buddy!
Hi there! The microphone I'm using is the DJI Mic 2, and it's on the CaTeFo StarRig Pro mic handle. The generic handheld mic flags measure 2x2.75 inches. The logo's I use are AI generated, and I print them out using sticker paper on my home printer. Thanks for the question.
FYI: This is not the process for the 16mm Z mount.
@YanpingChen-b7x Interesting. What’s the biggest difference would you say? How are you liking the Viltrox 16mm?
Love the explanation, simple no need to rush because a simple explanation is coming. My man Jeff, keep it going.
Haha, thanks!
thanks jeff! Iam still looking into thos thing because it looks so convincing. But i need wifi since cable is not that easy in my home
I would only order from a place that's easy to return to. You could get the same functions with a USB hub, SD card reader, and a portable SSD drive. It's just not going to be all in a nice neat package like this. I've been using a powered USB hub by Sentank ($60), that works really well. You could plug a portable drive into it, as well as a SD card reader. I've been using this on another computer, and really like it.
Jealous.
Funny
Dang I want one!!
@@natex1651 They are fun 👍
Interesting I did not know that about Mac Books.
Any idea for better graphics?
Generally speaking, you would upgrade the graphics card. Make sure the power supply can handle the new card. A step up would be a 4070. They average about $600 currently.
The WiFi test is useless because you just put the hub below the Mac Mini without connecting it to the device. The issues only occures when the dock is connected.
I assumed the WiFi issue was due to the hub physically blocking signal. That is why I tested it in that way. I later learned it's a electrical interference problem (when plugged in), affecting some hubs, and not others. But, yes you are 100% correct. The WiFi test is useless without being plugged in. I did not fully understand the exact source of the issue at the time, and was attempting to provide some useful information.
@@JeffsWay. what about your system, do you have any issues using WiFi with the dock plugged in? Anyway, thanks for addressing those issues around and providing this video ;)
@@DocSnyderTexas I have tested it repeatedly. Dock removed, dock unplugged, and dock plugged in. I've tested it in different areas of our home with no issues. I almost wish there was a problem, so I could see exactly what's happening.
Does the bundle pack comes with additional battery and whether they given the memory card???
Hi There! The get-set bundle comes with a 256 gb sd card, and 1 battery.
Your video must’ve made them better they now have reference cards just got my machine today
That's awesome. I think you'll like it!
What type of lights are you using ?
I'm using some cheap 4x6 inch USB lights on the top (plugged into a charging hub), and 2 small battery powered ones on the bottom (to help reduce shadows). I use 4 magnetic ball heads to hold them in place. Thanks!
@@JeffsWay. thank you
Not sure how he gets these results. The Satechi M2 Hub destroys WiFi performance. Mine went from 250mbps to 25mbps, in the end had to use a network cable and powerline adapters which wasn't the original plan.
It's my understanding there was a bad batch. Apparently it has nothing to do with the hub blocking the signal, but electrical interference causing the WIFI issues. I would reach out to Satechi, and see if they will offer a solution. Let me know what happens.
Whats ur main lens for this video
I’m fairly confident I was using the Sigma 16mm f1.4. I generally use that, or this Viltrox 13mm. If I think I’m going to be changing focal lengths I might use the Sigma 10-18mm f2.8. Thanks for watching!
Internet speed tests are kinda fickle. I would open a Terminal window and type in "networkquality" (no quotes)
Good Idea, I'll try it! Thanks.

Do you have any suggestions for when the hub is no longer detected by the Mac? The light turns on but nothing else happens.
Is this a Satechi hub? None of the ports on the front work, or is the SSD drive not being recognized? Maybe both? Try taking the drive out, and see if the ports now work? I have a feeling either the drive failed, or the hub itself failed. Let me know what you find.
@@JeffsWay. Yes it looks like the same Satechi hub in this video. It worked for a while when I first got it, then it randomly disconnected and eventually stopped all together. None of the ports work, not even the headphone and doesn't recognize the 2TB storage installed. If I plug an external hard drive to the hub the light comes on the external but nothing happens.
@@animationministry I feel like the hub failed, but I would still remove the SSD, and test it again to be sure. You might consider contacting Satechi. They may have a solution, or offer to replace it?
@@JeffsWay. Yeah, it seems like it failed. I was kinda confused because it still powers on and can send power to other USB devices. I'll try removing the SSD and see what happens. Thanks for your suggestions, I appreciate it!
Someone mentioned, "shouldn't the test be done with the hub plugged in"? This person deleted their original comment, but it does bring up a valid point. When I tested, I assumed the WiFi issues were caused by the hub physically blocking the signal. I hadn't thought about the hub potentially causing electrical interference to the WiFi signal. So, good point, and something to be aware of.
Nice tutorial! I don’t have a Mac but if i did this would be helpful information

I just got my MacBook Friday, so happy with it
They are super nice, congrats!
My problem is it doesn't read the SSD drive. This is a problem for many people. Would you do a video on that?
Absolutely. I’ll make a video showing what to do when the drive doesn’t show up. Thanks!
I made a quick video. I hope it helps!
Didn't say the format of the NVMe card. am guessing option was APFS?
Apologies, yes I used APFS since it's only being used with the Mac Mini. Thanks, I should have pointed that out.
This video was very informative and helpful. Thank you!
Thanks, appreciate it!
from one small UA-camr to another I'm glad I found you. I'm even more happy that I found you since we both like apple. finding your video has helped solve my storage problem !
Thanks, appreciate it!
I have the similar dock with M2 SSD slot. It worked great for a while but SSD eventually died after a month or so. The problem is the dock has very poor thermal dissipation causing the SSD to overheat and burnt. Heat has no where to go but up causing thermal problem. Finally I put the Mac and the dock on a vertical stand, allow the heat to move up solved the problem. My 2nd SSD is still holding up.
I could see where heat might be an issue. I have not encountered any heat issues with the Satechi hub, but it's still enclosed, and not getting airflow, so maybe? Sounds like you came up with a workable solution! Thanks for watching!
Jeff, thanks for the review man. I have been looking at one of these for a while now. Your video has made up my mind to pull the trigger on it. Cheers dude.
Awesome! You'll have to let me know how you like it. Thanks.
That was a good video explanation. I was wondering which one to get and you answered my question. Thank you.
Awesome, I'm glad it helped!
Thank you for the video. Very useful as I’m planning to get a Mac mini soon and intend to buy one of these too. I’m a hobbyist photographer and I was wondering whether the heat issue is related to having multiple applications running fairly intensive tasks for an extended period? For example, my current 2017 MacBook Pro gets really hot if I’m processing a queue of large photo files through software like DxOPureRaw4. The files are located on an external hard drive so the laptop needs to access them there. Have you tried that, or maybe some extended video editing?
For my use, the hub has worked fine. I'm generally editing less than 30 minutes of 4k video. I have not experienced any of the issues that some have reported, however that's not to say they are not there. They may just be using the hub in a way different than I do? I have switched to a pre built gaming PC over the Mac Mini for my video editing. The added performance and increased storage has been really nice. Of coarse, this also means having to adopt a new video editing program. Having only really used iMovie, I settled on CapCut Pro due to being fairly easy to use, and also affordable.
Anyone else's narration go to the left ear only at 0:35 ?
You're right! I better get that figured out. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
Welcome back to UA-cam!!!😂
