    What wheels u use for the brush satin effect on the bracelet? and does this also work on deeper scratches?

    • @Timesradical

      Use an artifex wheel for deeper scratches then go over it with a brush wheel

    This was super intersting! The first time I've seen someone use a jeweling tool to do the removal, and the stump on the staking set (rather than just picking a sized whole), it all looks much more controlled. Leaving the hairspring on during the removal feels a bit terrifying though :)

    Question: Is there a way to mathematically align the placement of each indicator on the dial, so you're precisely where it needs to be? Like, if you just had a blank dial with no marks (other than a day window at 3), what measurements or methodology would you take to place each dial indicator so it's exactly at the right angle and placement? Thank you.

    • @Timesradical
      @Timesradical 3 місяці тому

      That’s when you talk to a dial maker. They use computers machines and micro scopes

    Hi everyone, have a watch which I suspect has an issue with the cannon pinion. The second hand works freely but the minute and hour hand don’t move, when I set the time the minute and hour hand move as they should but when the crown is screwed down the second hand ticks away with no movement of the hour and minute hand. Sometimes the hour and minute hand works but later in the day they’ve stopped again. Any help? Thanks

    • @Timesradical

    Can you mod SKX with VH31 movement? 👍

    • @Timesradical
      @Timesradical 4 місяці тому

      Not sure. If the width and height of the movement are the same as the NH calibers then yeah it’s probably easy. But, if not it would need and extra movement rings to hold it in place

    • @roadgent7921
      @roadgent7921 4 місяці тому

      @Timesradical Maybe worth looking into. It would create an SKX with sweep seconds, accurate to about 5 secs a month. 👍

    Wow. I didn't run into any issues with my first builds. Mind you, I did watch a few videos first before my attempts. Biggest issue for me was getting second hand installed. Even that wasn't as bad as people say. I do service and build musical instruments and computers, so possibly I am able to transfer some skills. Putting a hand on a watch is no harder than those tiny wifi coax connectors on laptops...

    Thank you for sharing. I love watching stuff like this and learning so much ! Never seen the truing and poising of the balance wheel. Isn't the normal thing to do to use a staking tool to remove the balance staff ? Is the adapter part for the Horia tool custom made or available to purcahse ? It is a shame spare parts for these vintage movements is so hard to come by.

    Spectactular work. I wish people knew how much of a jump it is to do work like this. Most watchmakers in my market make that bullshit slash across the arbor to get the amplitude they need. It's fucking disgusting. I've been a watchmaker 12 years now and I'm ashamed to say for only the past 2 years have I started diving into lathe work. Before that I would just reject jobs that needed bushing repair or any type of lathe work. Mind you in my market they only pay 200$ an overhaul and think it as fortune because people out here will do a complete overhaul on a time and date automatic for fucking 80 dollars! Great work champ!! Let's keep fighting the good fight!!

      Since this last year I’m now working at an ORJ for salary. Better for me to stay up to date with training and swapping with new parts on modern watches only. Whenever I post my next videos they will most likely be personal projects. The UA-cam channel was my last ditch effort to survive while working on vintage.
