This trek in the Everest (Khumbu) region in Nepal leads to a beautiful system of lakes just 15 kilometres away from the much more popular destination of Everest Base Camp. This trek is probably one of the most underrated treks in Nepal, offering much better scenery, amazing views, along with lower difficulty levels.
This trek took us 10 days in total (8 Days to Gokyo, 1 Day in Gokyo, 1 day flying back to Kathmandu). The difficulty of this trek could be anywhere from Moderate to Strenuous depending on the persons fitness level. At higher altitudes, it's mainly the altitude that pulls the strings the most, so your body must be capable of acclimatising to the altitude well. Oxygen saturation levels can plummet up to 70% for some people at the top. We chartered a helicopter from Gokyo back to Kathmandu, however we had to wait around 3 hours in Lukla for the next one.
Overall, this was an amazing experience I would recommend to all hiking enthusiasts.
