After 4 years, I’m still trying to get my vns implant. All insurance denied me. My neurosurgeon actually ended up donating surgery to me! And the vns device is being donated too!! I just need prayers that the hospital also allows the surgery to be donated to me. It’s crazy expensive. Plz pray for me. I get my answer around Monday. 5/20/2024 🙏

I don't have epilepsy but treatment resistant major depression. I found out about it, by looking into ECT. I'm hoping I can get approved for it but, I'm not getting my hopes up. Do you find it helps your mood at all? Do you deal with the 'Robot voice' at all? (I'm definitely not looking forward to that). If it controls my TRD then, I'll just deal with it. Hope you are doing better with the epilepsy.

There is a difference between exercise and overworking yourself. U have to move slow at your own pace. I exercise alot. But then it came a time. I was having siezures in the gymn. It was because of over working and struggle to breath. U need to be careful and mindful for your health. They motivate u in the gymn to dont stop. Keep going. But u need that break. Lifting weights. Execising on your own is dangerous. My advice. Find a exercise that is best for you. That u can get out easy. Dont do any bench presses. Especially alone.

Hi Bryan, my husband just had a week long EEG at the hospital and he did not have any seizures of course. All they could see is that he had generalized epileptiform on both sides of the brain. Two days after he came back home his clonic tonic seizure cluster came on. I was a bit discouraged until I found some information on VNS and found your journey. I guess I too was wondering how things have worked out for you with VNS over the years. The way you described your experience with the medications is similar to how my husband has described things. His trouble with the medications sound a bit worse though.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am going through a similar experience with my son right now! He was drug free for the last four years without seizures, but after two recent generalized seizures, he is now back on the meds, and with side effects. One neurologist suggested surgery. I know that it can be successful, but it also sounds like a scary thought!
