Reckon I'll Outdoor Channel
United States
Приєднався 3 жов 2011
Growing up in a small town in North Carolina that straddled the border of rural and suburban with frequent trips to my grandparents in north Georgia, I've always enjoyed the outdoors and was fortunate enough to have access. Something I likely didn't appreciate until later when I learned how unique the opportunity I had was to merely roam the woods.
Since then, my family relocated to north Texas, where I've now spent half of my life, but our love of the outdoors has only intensified.
This channel is devoted to documenting experiences, reviews and DIY projects that I think would benefit others in the outdoor community.

Awesome video, thank you.
But I like your light and yes in Texas we have a surf
I wasn't aware that y'all had a surf
Kaboto jap crap vs cool american enginuity
use a hair dyrer or heat gun on the shrink it wont get stif on you
Rubber coated work gloves make a huge difference.
Thanks for sharing- I like how it can stow. Could also do it with a 3-prong
Love your grinder. good vid cheers
Great job but when you go plastic to plastic you don't need to use any tape but if you go plastic to metal you always use tape
Looks good.
I had the same idea to use the conduit box as a switch holder! I used metal toggle switches with the waterproof rubber covers. The one thing I wish I would have done different and I found them is a pass through that would seal that box and the cord through it
Psi please on your pump to get the 15 foot spray
I'm having big time issues with pouring these jigs everything is hot the mold is hot the pot is hot everything's hot but every time I pour one side's perfect and the other side the warriors showing big time any idea of what I'm doing wrong?
Recon I’ll leave a compliment. This worked perfect. Thanks.
Enjoyed the video! Thanks
How far apart did your steps end up being.I’m looking to do about 16”.
Great video. I been think of how i was going to try the bike on public land hunt. Thanks for the great ideas.
I work at a papermill where we splice ropes to carry the paper tail. We use a needle with a basket on the end. That thing would make this a breeze.
I like the simple way you attached your Hawk cart the your bike. I ordered one these carts and will attach mine the same way. Simple and works
How long is the rope finished? Trying to make my own bridge using this method but im pretty sure 18" will be too much offset
Where is the article that details how you did your conversion?
Here you go: www.reckonill.com/2021/02/28/diy-building-an-electric-outdoor-buggy/
Whats the point of the full bury? If strength is the concern, couldn't you step up to a larger Amsteel? You could then get away with almost half the material, and likley a lower overall cost. What am I missing?
The point of a full bury is not strength. In fact, I believe that a full bury is slightly weaker than a section of Amsteel with no bury in it. The main reason to do this is because Amsteel is a hollow core rope when the cam cleat is locking onto the rope it flattens it to a smaller diameter than the cam cleat is rated for and you risk slipping out of the cleat (happened to me once before). Therefore, by running the bury the full length it adds thickness to the rope to keep the diameter larger. Stepping up to a larger diameter Amsteel will not really help if you do not also full bury it because it will still flatten out without anything inside of it
@@andrewsanders5774 Got it. Thanks for the clarification!! 😁
Full bury is stronger. The outer section (shearh) may be weaker due to less optimal load angles, but its just adding to the core sections' strength. Otherwise all sheathed ropes with amsteel core would be weaker than raw amsteel, which is wrong.
@@dichotomousblueRoger that, thank you! 😊
Perfect for on top of my subi forester also with my new 12ft surf rod!
Nice video, but if a tractor won't make it up them hills something is wrong.
So smart! Buuut, 1 question: was wood smoke burning when you went out? Could YOU, with a spindly, human nose smell old smoke from nearby residents? Without a doubt freshly sealed, concentrated smoked clothes can likely cover human scent for a while. But its also so pungent, fresh, common yet also out of place sometimes. The deer may be accustomed to but only at certain times and concentrations. Even things calming, familiar things at uncommon things are noteworthy. Strange. Out of place. That can be enough to make a deer NOT think if human hunters but enough to make them AWARE. That could be all it takes to spook some off.
Got a new link for the lenses?
Just checked and the one in the blog still works: www.snapshotsniper.com/Purchase.htm
I'm having an incredibly hard time getting the size 11 needle to bury the full 10 inches at once. I'm having to do two or three inches at a time, which leaves the rope looking a mess. Any suggestions? I've had even more trouble trying to pull through with a wire. Also, had to tape 11" of the rope to get it through the fuels line because it kept bunching up. Easy video to follow and learn, but something about the rope and the tools made it a two hour job.
@david...sorry its giving you fits...I have also pulled through with 14ga copper...I think part of it is having new amsteel...its stiffer and i haven't had issues...fuel line should slide on easy...are you trying to slide over bury? I always tie one side..slide on fuel line, then tie the other
Nice
Nice
What size amsteel did you use?
All the details are here: www.reckonill.com/2021/08/13/diy-hang-your-climbing-sticks-faster-by-ditching-your-cam-buckle-straps-for-amsteel
I have a cart that looks pretty identical to your. I have a brush guard that covers the headlights and attached back towards to dash, but the way it is mounted prevents be from being able to install my fender flares. (Very muddy at my camp) I will probably order the same brush guard you have, and I also already have green lights pods cause we hunt hogs too. My Question is how did you mount your pods to the brush guard? With the supplied hardware that came with the pods or a different mount?
@bryson...its actually mounted to the cart...not the brush guard...take a look here: www.reckonill.com/2021/02/28/diy-building-an-electric-outdoor-buggy/#guard
@@reckonilldid you have trouble mounting the brush guard? I ordered the same one as you listed in your blog and it is super low and doesn’t center the headlights. 2003 Club Car DS
Cut my top piece in half making a "C" shaped piece clamp it ans attach with 2 Stainless machine screws one on each side. And i put 4 1/4"holes2 inches apart for the bottom butt holder so it is adjustable for different rods
I just purchased those exact same balloon wheels for my Sea Striker cart, but the axle is a different size. Did you fabricate your own axle, or did your tires fit on the current axle?
@eric I made my own..details here: www.reckonill.com/2021/06/15/diy-trick-out-an-aluminum-pull-cart-for-fishing-the-surf/#balloon-tires
I watched a cooler like that do the "jaws" bouy thing as it got pulled off the beach, to never be seen again!
Yeah I wouldn't use it to anchor a rod..only transport them...I use an aluminum sandspike
How does the rope attach to a he stick? Is it just the loop or does something hold it in place
@benjamin....my new stick arrives tomorrow and I'll post up how it connects
Really nice set up! I really like the accessory rail
Appreciate it!
That's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
how much was the aluminum angle per foot? thanks
I'm honestly not sure given the time that has passed...I think it's sitting just over $2/foot for a 16' length..don't get it at Lowes/Home Depot..find a steel yard
@@reckonill thank you. found it here for 1.20 a foot. some places were much higher so good to check around. thanks again!
Real nice man. Thanks for sharing.
Appreciate it!
June grass is a PIA. I hate it! Great video. Glad you and your dad had good father-son time. You’re very fortunate.
Looks Great. Thanks! Can you fix the link to the boomless nozzle in your blogpost?
I just took a look and the link worked. What issue are you having?
Tried it on my phone and it worked. Must have been my computers browser blocking amazon. Thanks!
And no room for the most important thing, the tackle box.
I typically carry my tackle in a sling bag, but I did add an option for the days I pack a little heavier: www.reckonill.com/2022/07/10/diy-build-a-tackle-storage-system-on-a-surf-fishing-cart/
Great video. I'm in Texas too. DFW area, but I fish Matagorda several times a year. Killer flounder gigging in the bays, not to mention the 20 miles of drivable Beach. Surf fishing is awesome in the fall.
That's awesome! I've always wanted to surf fish Texas, but fish mostly Florida/Alabama coast
Good stuff!
Thanks!
Great video
Thanks!
Great video 😊
Nice video the cart needs four wheels take a look at the big kahuna

You can find them linked on the post: www.reckonill.com/2021/03/18/diy-making-your-own-pompano-float-hooks/
Where did you get the flange that size? Great idea
All parts can be found here: www.reckonill.com/2021/06/07/diy-construct-a-simple-arrow-holder-in-less-than-5-minutes/ I get them at Home Depot or Lowes in plumbing..its a closet flange
