    Everyone looking forward to the gridlock and highway traffic madness again. We have all seen the reports of Amazon's just-walk-out *technology* and Zoox self-driving *technology* actually being handled by masses of low-cost workers over in India. That 5 day return to office actually means they want 20 percent of the US corporate workers to LEAVE without having to do another round of Layoffs and severance payouts, to be replaced by much cheaper labor in India offices. Good for the 'efficiency' report to shareholders but bad for US workers. Brought to you by the company famous for pey-in-bottles and crying-at-desks. ;-)

      There is no doubt the shift around remote work and automation has significant implications for the workforce. The use of remote lower cost labour also contradicts a lot of the argument around bringing economic growth back into the central cities so it will be interesting to see how this all shapes up. I for one am not excited about the traffic coming back to work!

      I’m sorry to hear that! Hopefully you have some options you can explore to try and either keep your interest with some elements of the role or is there an option to return to where you were (not sure of circumstances when you say you were moved into it) or perhaps it’s a needs must and you quietly put together a plan to find something else? Nice theory, try that in the public service. Virtually nothing can be done to employees who under perform. Weak Management, due to promotion of the wrong people for years. You reap what you sow😢

    • @LeadershipwithNiky
      @LeadershipwithNiky 2 місяці тому

      Agreed, dealing with poor performance can be tricky, especially when management isn't stepping up. You could try keeping notes to document issues (depending on your role). This can be crucial if it escalates or you do need to reinforce evidence of the underlying performance…

    One more question since i am a fresher hvac engineer - for someone like me who's new in the industry lack of experience in number of years acts as a factor working against me as some people say career growth happens after experience so how to break this myth and create own cycle of success through other skills and unique combination of solutions.. in short what path is suitable for rapid pace growth in career..

      I think there are probably a lot but I find sometimes it’s hard to find one book that can fully relate to an individual circumstance so take parts of a lot as it’s so different for everyone depending on vocation, location, preferences, political environment etc etc. It’s an old one but I find it’s still relevant: “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie helps with how to connect with others, influence decisions, and inspire cooperation. “The New Rules of Work: The Modern Playbook for Navigating Your Career” by Alexandra Cavoulacos and Kathryn Minshew has some interesting insight with exercises and recommendations to help advance in your career but it really does depend on where you are at. I think you can get a lot of insight from books and videos perhaps start with the end in mind (yes Stephen Covey - another great book - 7 habits of highly effective people) as it will help if you can bridge between where you want to be and where you are at so you can identify the gaps to build skills etc and hopefully get their faster…

    Mam where does Power lies in the Corporate settings/office apart from owner or boss and how can employee/engineers attain it working for their organization without being dependent on number of years of experience in that organization.. internal politics does play a big role in decision making so how to master those rules of modern work and make it work in favor...

    • @LeadershipwithNiky
      @LeadershipwithNiky 3 місяці тому

      My personal opinion from my experience is that it starts with earning respect in your position - showing your expertise, supporting your colleagues, being proactive (not presenting problems in isolation but with potential solutions). Politics are a challenge and that’s where leaning into emotional intelligence can help, being able to read people and access situations quickly to help nurture relationships and steer communication. I’m currently filming a few videos on ‘how to read people’ and ‘body language cues’ so if your subscribed to my channel you’ll see them coming up in the next few weeks and hopefully they are of some help!

    Interesting analysis !! Could you suggest better ways- if making big money in corporate world as engineer or in general is the only goal which path is the most suitable to adopt and how like earning promotions quicker, climbing ladder etc or remaining in same position ? Also how is it possible for me in initial stage of career to demand promotions or high pay after 6 months or a year by solving any of their major problems.. does any books on creativity or innovation thinking examples work drastically well in advancing rapid growth..

    • @LeadershipwithNiky
      @LeadershipwithNiky 3 місяці тому

      Unfortunately I don’t think there is one sure path to promotion or accelerated career progression. It will depend on the company’s own promotion criteria but if you are exceeding expectations and have tangible outcomes (eg solving major problems and documenting how you individually contributed to this) it can help to align these with the wider organisation’s goals to show even greater impact and proactively doing this can all help increase your chances of promotion. It can also help to have a clear goal you are aiming for with your career which helps create that direction too (which I have created a career blueprint to assist you linked in my bio!). Good luck, unfortunately it can be different for everyone and will depend on the organisation too…

    I remember the first time that all eyes turned towards me for "the answer". Yeah, isolated, vulnerable, and alone really describes the feeling at that moment. I've learned that with experience has come confidence. All eyes still turn my direction, from my staff, my work peers, and even all the way up to officers of the corporation on rare occasions, for my leadership in my area of expertise. And I can confidently lead because I'm intimately familiar with the subject and "know what I'm talking about". And when I don't have the answer, because of my network of contacts, I can find someone that does. This is a good video Niky. Great subject rarely covered.

    Niky, first off, new subscriber here. Second, this is a video that all managers, supervisors, etc. should view. I've been in various management positions (i.e. leadership) since the mid-1980's and I currently manage an international team of people in the U.K. and the United States. I've learned a lot over the years, but the most important is that it is the people that make a manager successful. A good leader is one who has the success of their individual workers at heart is the one that have the most dedicated teams. A position of authority doesn't automatically mean leadership. I don't have to be my team's best friend, but I do need to have their best interest, along with that of the organization, in the forefront of my mind. When the individual succeeds, so does the company.
