Melanistic Garter Snake on the Levee Road
I love that pine tree!
@Misty-dq3pp It's a big one for sure.
So what was the end result?
You could of helped the wasp , wait till one day you need help let’s stand back watch you struggle 🙄
@jamiecash6985 spider needs to eat too. That's life.
Rattlesnake is mad AF.
I wish the spider knew how much we humans are hyped for it
That's crazy-
The steatoda genere what type grossa nobilis trianglossa please reply your video was enjoyable and educational thanks oh great sètting also
@@user-sq7km3cq5n Steatoda borealis... and thank you for your interest.
Those Gardens are absolutely lovely. I'm glad you found some spiders at that prison museum.
@@windiwallace3442 Yes, they are beautiful gardens... and a lot to see.
Superb, thanking the algorithm on this one. Greetings from France man !
@@Emonakat greetings... and thank you for the kind words.
Great video, thanks brother
@@Knight_of_NI thank you.
Hey great footage. Once you called out the species of spider by looking at it's web, I knew you were the real deal.
Cheers... thanks for your interest.
Was still trying to attack the catterpillar
Incredible!
Cool! I have to get out more this summer and explore nature. It's been a passion of mine since my frog catching days as a kid. taking tadpoles home and watching them grow into frogs was pretty cool! I've had a general fear of spiders but also a fascination so i am always trying to break it by handling them. Of course, the last spider I tried to handle was a massive dock spider that shot up my arm and I freaked out (the spider was okay) 🤣
Lol
black widows in Montana???? 😗
Yes Montana has a high population of northerly adapted Latrodectus hesperus -the Western Black Widow.
@@ShaneHerrick never would have guessed. i thought the climate would have been too cold
@@rynor7132 You are not alone... I think that is a common thinking in regard to these spiders. I talk quite a bit about these spiders ecology and thermal regulation in my content... as well as touch on their physiology/biology that makes their advancement rorthward possible.
@@ShaneHerrick I live in Ontario, Canada, and there has been many confirmed sightings of black widows.
I just started throwing a full-size splitting axe at a big pine stump cut about 30" from the ground. This is now a new goal! I was hitting at about 25'
Very nice... keep throwing. I can hit at 60 feet... I know that sounds crazy. I took those vids down a while ago though.
@@ShaneHerrick I don't have the power to get that distance; LOL ! You are STRONG !
@@ShaneHerrick I now hit about 60% at 40 ft.
Another great video, sharing with my grandparents in Boise after I removed a L. hesperus from their garage and put it near the entrance of a hole similar to this on a south facing slope!
Very nice... great location choice.
Cool video!❤😊.
Thank you so much for the lovely video. To walk with you, see the landscapes, cross the streams... such beauty. Very tranquil and awe inspiring to get to be in the landscape and explore. I have never cried so much on a youtube video. Thank you, I really appreciate it <3
My pleasure of course... thank you for watching.
Why don't you tell us about the wasp? Why are they enemies?
mud daubers hunt down spiders . They sting the spider and take it to the nest . the mud dauber then lays eggs on the paralyzed spider . when the egg hatches the larva of the wasp eats the spiders mom collected
@@huckstirred7112I like that idea.
Should have let mudd dobber go that black widow is a danger
No. The Mud Dauber is a natural predator of the Black Widow spider. This one tried to hunt and eat the Black Widow but underestimated her and was poisoned, killed and eaten in return. Predator became the prey moment.
The mud dauber was probably carrying the caterpillar back to it's nest when it was caught in the web. They catch, sting and take caterpillars back to the nest and lay eggs on them for food when the eggs hatch.
They also take spiders
@@eas2252 Yep, some do! Seen that too.
More specifically and ironically the black widow@@eas2252
Lo imaginé también, en lo particular esas avispas las detesto porque siempre ganan pero está vez parece que no salió con vida
Yup, their main source of food for their larvae.
Still just a kid and already tackling a serious prey.
I feel like the saw dust is going through my screen 😂

a flip-up mailbox post ?
It's the first of three big hinges I'm making for a log cabin door.
This is a good sign that those spiders are there. So happy to see this.
Nice sentiments... I agree.
How did you come across this place, my friend? It is hauntingly beautiful.
I live fairly neerby... it is a local historic marker.
Are they as deadly as I've heard?
No... not really. Latrodectus bites are more medically significant to those people who have immune deficiency or other health problems. The very young and also the very elderly can be more effected by Widow bites. Latrodectus only bite if they are being crushed or pinched... otherwise they are very shy and reclusive.
Bites can effect everyone differently... and any bite should be looked at by a health professional. The venom of these spiders, though maybe not deadly, can be severe.
Is this southern Canada? Looks like Saskatchewan or Alberta.
Montana
no snow yet?
actually our first snow storm has already melted.
I would have cut the log where it rested on the tree trunk below it... dumb me!
hell yeah nice targets :P
Cheers ;)
Can't lie for half the video I thought there was 2 spiders😂
synchronized spiders ;)
Until I read your comment I thought there were two as well until I looked really closely 😂😂
Yup!
Great but what did they pay for the wood. Home heating or
Even if it’s real dryed out that’s a chunk of tree
Gettin that work done!
Nice find on that skull. Did you take it home? I would. Hi Trapper!
Yeah I kept it... the mice and coyote pups and such can have the rest of the skeleton to chew on.
I learned that black widows don't really have a specific design for their webs, they just kinda wing it 🕷️ I'd love to see a video on the webs of spiders and their techniques. It's pretty interesting.
I've made several vids about their webs... if you are curious... but you'd kind of have to surf through them... because I'm not too sure about everything I've talked about Lol.
Just curious, when do they go into hibernation? That bullsnake had a beautiful pattern.
They simply get more and more inactive as the cold sets in.... so now until winter we are seeing some spiders hiding and calling it quits for the year.
you've got some sweet spots out there. I appreciate you showing this important habitat with much respect.
I appreciate your interest... thank you for the feedback.
Trapper!
He's gotten big... getting old. Has a grey beard.
That jumping spider was ripped. I backed away just in case it jumped at the camera. Love your knowledge of dinosaur eras,if that's how it's said. No clue, interesting ♥️from 🇬🇧
Thank you... and thanks for your interest.
So, it was really Black Widow Spiders that killed off the Dinosaurs, not a Meteor?.. 🕷🕸
I knew my arachnophobia was reasonable. Lil fuckes killed giants
Lol
@@ShaneHerrick , Yeah, it's scary to think that they've been lying there in wait, generation after generation, to kill off unsuspecting victims! Lmaoooo! 🤣
Ooh, you've covered some great things, very interesting thank you ☺️
Thank you as well.
Where is this?
Montana
@@ShaneHerrick My old stompin ground!
@@mickiofthemountains very nice.
Love seeing the dinosaur fossils
I hope you've been doing well.
I'm ok. I hope you are doing well too
When they change lights above the dams at Umatilla Or and ice harbor in Tri cities Wa black widows love the heat and the maintenance crew often encounter
So interesting how they thermal regulate.
16 Mile Creek looks like a superb place for trout fishing. Thx
