Painted Pumpkins: Four Fun and Unique Designs
This is the best baby blanket video! Quick, to the point and simple to reference while sewing. My corners and mitered edge did not look like the one online, but as a novice, I absolutely love it. It took me the better part of an afternoon and into the late evening to finish this project. I used 41x41 and 36x36 baby flannel on both sides. I did not use contrasting material and my end project size, after 3 washings, was a bit shy of 37x37 with a 1 inch mitered border. A perfect square! My corners looked beautifully puckered or pleated with an additional amount of material. That is art! I'm going to make 2 more.

Oh, it's difficult to find this excellent video. It doesn't pop up when you search for baby blanket UA-cam video, etc
Will it work with batting? Cuz i want to try this and have it be fluffier but unsure 🫤
I just made this blanket for my toddler and it came out perfect! You have to trust the process and it will all make sense each step further. If you’re having trouble with the corners this is the best way I can explain it. Lay your inside out fabric, working with one corner at a time so the center fabric is flat and you can see your border. Fold up from the bottom to line up the edges of the fabric like she did in the video. When marking your mitered corners, use the edge of the center fabric as a guide and draw a straight line down to make a 90° angle. You won’t be able to see the center fabric but you will feel where it is. Then from that straight line down, again feel for the edge of the center fabric as your guide, draw a line down the middle of that triangle to make your 45° angle and sew down that line. Cut the excess away and it will all make sense when you turn it right side out.
Cute, but I can't get the awning to load into cricut, it says it's too big.
What??!! So clever 👏
Adorable 💕
So stinking cute 😍
Thank for sharing
Thank you for this, it’s lovely. Can you include the link to the card stock you bought please.
I just did this and it’s pretty easy to follow but my corners are super bunchy and idk what I’m doing wrong 😩
I've used this pattern three times now! As an amateur at sewing I appreciate the simple pattern and clear instructions. ❤ My blankets came out so cute and I'm proud to give them to babies in my life.
That’ll blow away in one day where I live
Thank you for sharing 🎉❤❤❤❤
What size of diaper did you use ?
I used Size 2, but you can use any size.
What about wind drafts?
I put bricks inside the top two gifts to weigh them down and they stayed put all winter!
What a wonderful idea! Where can I find the plastic board?
www.thecraftpatchblog.com/giant-light-up-christmas-presents-diy-outdoor-decoration/
Ace hardware also sells it
good idea..
Help. My corners 😢 did not lay flat. What did i do?? May I send you a pic?
Help. My corners 😢 did not lay flat. What did i do??
Does it matter what size diapers for each layer?
Nope! You can use whatever size diapers you want to gift. I recommend Size 2 because they grow out of those newborn sizes so quickly!
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Great idea! Thank you😊
I just finished and the blanket is beautiful! Best design yet! I’m
For those complaining about speed you can slow the video down. Go to settings (the little cog wheel) , playback speed, and adjust there.
Do you not need to secure to the base?
I didn't secure the base but you can if you'd like. A dab of hot glue would work great.
What is the size of the base?
About twelve inches.
Do you do that to each corner?
Yes
I’m wondering could I use fennel and cotton fabric to make this or should I stay with two fennel. Making this for my daughter first baby shower ,coming up soon next’s weekend
Where is my plate
Yum 😋 must try. Thank you
You need to explain the corners and how to do them as they can be cinfusing!!!
Yes, when she marks the 45 degree angle, sews, and cuts the excess, is that for every corner or just one? And if just one, does it matter which?
It,s really nice.
This was so helpful thank you!
Very creative!!
Sewing the fabrics together is SO confusing. It’s way too fast. I’ve spent an hour trying to understand why my fabric is bunching in the middle when I see the sides. Im supposed to line up the smaller fabric with the larger outside piece on the middle marks but this doesn’t work. I’m out of ideas. 😢
I just learned today there is a wheel on the top right that lets you slow the videos down
There is also a written tutorial in her description.
Totally agree- it is so confusing how to sew the smaller piece to the larger piece. What does she mean it will bunch up and its ok??? Its not ok. How do you make the smaller piece attach to the smaller piece without making ruffles ??? !!!????
I found this tutorial excellent. I make receiving blankets for newborns in my young neighborhood. I’ve just been using two pieces of flannel the same size but I like the idea of the blanket edge. I’d seen it before but needed a refresher. This was perfect. It may be a little confusing to beginners. Missouri Star Quilt Company has a similar tutorial that might be easier for newbies to follow.
I did it and it worked ❤❤❤❤
omg I can not believe hw easy she made that look the last time I did a diapher cake it fell apart Never agin
Thank you for this! This is very, very cool!!❤
Thanks for your tutorial. I was following this method on Pinterest but just couldn't get the jist of it. Then I watched your video and OMG so easy. Thank you, thank you!
Nice! Perfect for my son's PreK graduation gift!
This was such an easy tutorial, & btw if your going to give out these on your Leis for graduation keep the wire long to insert them!🫶🏻
Why you were rushing so much ? Your viewers could not able to follow if you are always rushing . Do go little slower if you want to show how to Sew your patterns .
Fun way to give money for graduation

Wow... good job! You explained it so nicely and made it look so easy. I can't wait to try. Thanks so much ! 🙏
I made this!!!!! My measurements were about 53"x33" - I had to do some math since hers was a square and mines a rectangle. I used flannel back, cotton front. First blanket ever and I had a friend teach me to use my sewing machine. I also added some batting, I sewed it in after seeing the two fabrics together first. So it has like triple stiching in all seams, more durable. Great tutorial thank you.
Good for you! If the batting is loose between the layers, like if you didn't quilt the top through all 3 layers to hod them together, the batting could get damaged over time. The batting package will tell you how far apart to quilt. Like maybe 4 inches apart to 10" apart, depending on type of batting. The quilting is usually done before borders are applied as the stitching ca n shrink the top A easy method at this point would be to tie it rather than sew. Look it up. You cana maybe mark a grid with painters tape then tie the middle of each fabric "square" (not through the tape) and remove the tape when done. Welcome to the sewing and quilting world!
When I try this it get so fluffy why is that. Looks more like a smashed bag than a quilt.
Does anyone know where to find sewing groups? I have found that their are non-profits in my area in need of blankets and kid's clothing ranging from newborn to young adult.
Thank you for this lesson ❤
Can you make it with minky on the back?
You can, I think you just have to use a different ironing method, setting it to synthetic temp and maybe using another fabric like a scrap of cotton to use as a buffer so the iron doesn't melt the minky fabric. That's what I'm planning on doing with this pattern because I've seen a lot of other people make it with minky
Do you cut all corners?
yes
