Quick highlight reel of a 2018 trip to Gruyères, Switzerland. Visiting the HR Giger Bar and Museum. Sleepy quiet country village on top of a mountain. Perfect destination for seclusion in the Swiss Alps. Just two minutes long. Filmed with GoPro HERO 4 and iPhone 7 Plus. Music was done by both an Egyptian and Congo drum, Korg Kontrol 49 and Haitian spirits....

    I was station there with 2nd platoon, 212th Military Police company in 1881-1982. About 16 months. Made some good friends, some who are gone now. Jeff Black of Oregon died in 2018. Eric Victor Franklin of Chicago Illinois died in 1997. My two best friends while I was there. God bless both.

      2nd platoon Mad Dogs from 2002 to 2007. Our platoon got re-assigned from 212th MP Co to 630th MP Co in 2004 for our first Iraq deployment. We stayed with 630th MP Co. 212th was a pos company. Glad we were no longer assigned to them.

      @Rage Theatre2020 For me, it was 1981 to 1982 then we moved to the Leighton Barracks up the hill.

    • @mightymeatmonsta
      @mightymeatmonsta 3 роки тому

      @Rage Theatre2020 I meant Larson, but stayed at both. Yes, I was just watching a youtube video of KITZINGEN, and all these memories started flooding back! I remember most of those places, including the church with the gold inlay and copper roof, which is the first thing you see if you turn your head to the right, after getting off the bridge.

    • @mightymeatmonsta
      @mightymeatmonsta 3 роки тому

      @Rage Theatre2020 Did you ever ride out to the park on top of the hill about 5 kilometers outside of town? I did! I walked there! It took a few hours but when I got to the bottom of the hill, there were wine grape vineyards on both sides as you went up the hill. At the top was the park. You can see it in this video as it rotates around. It is the largest hill to the right. I took the back way and walked by all those small buildings that the officers lived and worked in, out the back way, and followed that road out of Kitzingen to the next town. Remember how each town had the EXACT SAME SMELL (sheep shit), and ONE TALL TREE THAT GREW IN THE MIDDLE OF THE USUALLY ONE OR TWO BLOCK TOWNS! Each family in those small towns had a small farm that they cultivated. Some even had larger farms where they grew more crops. There were many times I passed the farmer working the fields. I followed that road out and it took me right to the park. And of course, the other times I went in the OTHER direction into KITZINGEN itself. It's funny, I was just watching about 5 videos of Kitzingen, and I STILL, to this day, almost 40 years later, remember some of those buildings, including the SEX SHOP (the front is in one of the videos), and the very famous church, the first one you see if you go over the bridge and turn your head to the right. It has gold inlay and a copper roof, which makes it stand out. I even remember some of the roads, including the street that lead up to Larson Barracks. Funny how these memories just come right back once I watched these videos.

      @Rage Theatre2020 You can see it in the video when they are panning first to the right. It is the largest and flattest hill. It had to be about 5K from Kitzingen.

      @Rage Theatre2020 Thank you so much for the memories! That's all I've thinking about now for the past THREE DAYS! It was a great time and the more I think about it, the more I miss it!

      Joe Boo indeed joe! thanks for responding, i often think of kitzingen and the good times i had with some of the best friends i ever knew! i was there from 1980-1982. now i know it wasn't really Dracula's grave, do you know anything about who was actually buried there?

    • @joeboo8626
      @joeboo8626 5 років тому

      @@thisolddog2259 I'm not sure if anybody was. I think there were a few burial spots around Europe. Supposedly different body parts in different graves. Something of an easter egg from 100+ years ago. Reminds me of the plot from Castlevania II: Simon's quest. It's pretty cool, though. The story I heard was that the Kitzingen tower, the top leans a little bit, was supposed to fall on you if you tried to dig him up.

    • @thisolddog2259
      @thisolddog2259 5 років тому

      Joe Boo it does lean and the story goes that they ran out of water to mix the mortar so they used wine and that's why it leans!!

      I was with 3/63 Armor back in 84-85. Our barracks was right next to a large farm by the back gate. there was no perimeter fence then, I remember the shepards coming right on post with the dogs and sheep...…... If you walked straight through the field, you'd come out at Benos gassthaus, not far from the military entrance to Kloster forest.
