I am an Animal Nutritionist and Creative writer. I did a Post-Doc at the University of Alberta in 2007. This channel started during post-doc but could not continue due to the hectic teaching and admin routine. The lockdown in 2020 forced me to do something online for the students and farmers. I have made videos as a Lecture Series in Animal Nutrition/Animal Sciences focusing on dairy cow nutrition. Multi-species ration formulation is my idea to promote rather than to be specific. Dr Sahib, Please correct me, at time 34:36, you talked about increase in ruminal pH after high concentrate and low roughage intake. As In the context of acidosis in cattle, the pH level in the rumen typically becomes low, not high. Acidosis in cattle often refers to ruminal acidosis, which occurs when there is an excessive accumulation of volatile fatty acids (VFAs), particularly lactic acid, in the rumen. This buildup of acids lowers the pH of the rumen fluid, leading to a condition known as ruminal acidosis. Normal rumen pH ranges from approximately 6.0 to 7.0. However, during ruminal acidosis, the pH can drop significantly below this range, sometimes reaching levels as low as 4.0 or lower. This acidic environment can disrupt the normal microbial population in the rumen, impair digestion, and potentially lead to various health issues in cattle, including reduced feed intake, rumen inflammation, laminitis, and metabolic disorders. Thus, in cases of acidosis in cattle, the pH of the rumen becomes low due to an accumulation of acids, particularly lactic acid, rather than being high. To solve this issue we often use bicarbonates to increase the pH, am I right?

Please correct me, at Time 29:45, Straw is not the outer covering of seed! No, STRAW is not defined as the outer covering of a seed. Straw typically refers to the dried stalks of cereal plants, such as wheat, barley, oats, or rice, after the grain or seed has been harvested. It's primarily used for bedding, mulching, or as fodder for animals. The outer covering of a seed is more accurately referred to as the seed coat or seed husk
Probably could not explain in detail, out ercovering of seed that remained after separation of the grain during threshing
