Other teams are waiting for Mellish to push forward so that they can ambush him, turnover possession and with the defence out of place create goal scoring opportunities. It happened numerous times last season and it happened again today.

What really hurts is the pietak family have put a lot of money in to the club. We as fans are told the club has a bigger budget than most league 2 clubs .But sadly we have bought the wrong players to accheave promotion

Remember that Ben Williams has had a decent career up to now at a higher level with both Barnsley and Cheltenham. On paper he's good player, especially at L2 level and the same could be said of many of the squad. There was obviously some other factor which caused players to underperform, and that factor could only be the management.

You put millions into a L2 club you want returns end of story. Don't recall a shot on target today bar the lucky equaliser. Don't know why Patrick went anyway. Best striker/ winger we had . Lewis does not inspire confidence again. Punching ball he should have caught etc. Some good players brought in but not George Melly ( sorry Kelly ). He's injured again for 12 weeks . Liability. I wonder if Simpson had lost the dressing room. Onwards. But no surprise he's gone .

I thought we played better last week against Gillingham but got beat 4 1 Barrow were the worse team iv seen at Brunton Park for 12 months It really shows the difference between league one a two When we played Fleetwood on the first home game last season after the game I said if we finish above them we will do well !!!!!!!

Decent performance. I thought Carlisle were good. Stoke however were highly competent and to be fair highly professional. They took nothing for granted and showed us full respect. I was highly encouraged. Yeah injuries limit the midfield but you can see encouraging signs.

I'm no Lewis apologist but I thought he had a good game. The first goal was a cleverly worked free kick, with a blocking player giving them a free header at the far post. Hard to save at point blank range. The second goal, Lewis did everything right, closing down the player and blocking the shot. A wicked spin on the ball was what made it a goal, not poor goal keeping. He still needs some confidence and a clean sheet against Barrow will do him and the team wonders. I saw Smith play against Kendal and wasn't impressed at all. Gabe had a couple of good performances last season but it's too early to be swapping him in and even then, I'm not sure he'd be the right choice for a full campaign just yet. Wyke needs fine-tuning and Armstrong was unlucky not to get a great goal too, with the post denying him. We weren't as pretty as Stoke but I thought it was a good showing considering the differences in budget. If we play like that, we won't be far off this season.

After Gillingham I was ready for Lewis to be dropped, off the back of last season and Smith/Breeze given a go. Last night he made a good few saves and restored some goodwill for myself. I wish Wyke was sinking some of his shots into the net like I thought he would when I heard he signed but they haven't come in yet. I'm sure we can do well this season, and it may start this saturday! UTB!

The posts slating the players are all from the usual suspects who do it week in and week out just for the sake of it. This team looks a lot more robust than last year with several different players. Only time will tell if it's the tactics or players. You can't base it on 2 performances!

Two completely different styles of play. Stoke with nice passing and pace, made it look simple. We huffed and puffed, looked like what we are a league 2 side. Effort was there but lacking quality in final third again and no creative passing. I thought Lewis was culpable again for the first goal, headed back across, but he ended up flapping like a duck, saying that the 2nd goal he made a good attempt at it but the usual result. Hope for better Saturday

Lewis is awful,less than 2 minutes into the season and he makes his first mistake.If Simmo stubbornly sticks with him it will cost him his job.Every time the ball goes near our box you expect a goal.Look back at the play off semi and he was at fault for our first and third goal.Lewis is a total liability and must be replaced or Simmo will pay for the consequences.

Sorry but the keeper is a liability. Until that position is resolved Carlisle will struggle.

You were exceptionally unlucky. You should have been 3-1 up at half time. Your keeper was at fault for the first goal because he flapped at a cross, but not the others. We changed at the break and matched you in midfield. The third goal was unexpected but after that we could have got 6. On the evidence Carlisle are absolute contenders, along with us.

Your exactly right Harry Lewis to me is a bad keeper Simpson is clueless as u say bringing subs on with 2 mins to go 4-1 down me personally think Simpson as to go he is not the man to take carlisle forward

Bouncing straight bsck up was always a tall order. Maybe they will but the expectations are too high, looking at the playing side over a fair bit of time of late.

Re Goal keeping- I once turned on the TV and saw Celtic playing Falkirk (about 2005). While I was watching the Falkirk keeper honestly made a succession of amazing saves, including three blinders! I actually wanted to know who the keeper was….interesting it turned out to be Marty Glennon. My response was to think; yep of course he’d do that! I am old school; keepers need to stop shots and claim crosses. Holy in the game vs Colchester at home was immense on crosses. Great if a keeper is good with their feet, but stopping shots is the bread and butter.

As the quote goes…..‘Deja Vu, all over again’. A squad jelling and pressure…erodes confidence for what was already and now is a huge game against Barrow.

At 1 0 & 2 1 down we Play some decent stuff and look Capable of getting something from the Game . BUT the same Basic Mistakes come back in . TO MANY ERRORS We need to Cut out the Stupid Mistakes in Defence & Goalkeeping !

I disagree slightly as I reckon Lewis, or a more competent keeper I should say, should have easily saved the second and 4th goals, so that makes him accountable for 3!! The 1st- his mistaken cross, 2nd he should have been out quicker to narrow the angle and the ball goes over his hand, 3rd - Williams could only score in that corner of the goals because too many players blocking the rest of the goals, but Lewis was so slow to get down, plus he was standing right in mid goal line area when the ball can only go one place, the ball had actually gone past him when he dives. For me his reactions to everything are so hesitant and slow. Big liability
