I debated a bit for deciding. Are you aware the 4K offers the OAR of full screen while the Blu-ray is a zoomed in widescreen format? If so, what makes you decide to choose that, aside from saving $100? Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!

@SumDumGy i don't have a 4k tv, or player, and the blu-ray version just seems better for my situation

@@natethornton5646Do you plan on ever having a 4K setup? I started buying 4K movies (with Blu-ray copies included) long before I started upgrading my equipment. I called it future proofing! Later I bought the player so I could run the discs but didn’t get a TV upgrade immediately. I can totally understand staying where you are. I’m not overly enamored with the 4K format by any means.

@@natethornton5646I do. Keep in mind they’re promoting the 4K as a Limited Edition. It may not go down but it may go away.

I’m not likely to transfer the discs at this point even when I say that two inches is definitely something I care about. Most people, men and women, would love to gain two inches! 😂 I go to great lengths for that. When I say 4Ks are more susceptible to scratches, I’m not saying they are more prone to getting scratched. Being more susceptible means they fall victim to those scratches more so than other formats. Playability of a 4K can be thrown off by a disc imperfection we can’t even see. A scratch can be the death of it. It’s looking more like I’ll hold on to the set thanks to people such as yourself who have vouched for the quality of this transfer. Thank you for letting me know!

Unfortunately, these GameStop stores who were supposed to be carrying movies for SDS don’t seem to be doing so, and it’s not being talked about by anyone so far as I can see. As such, pretty much all my purchasing is done online now. I’ve heard of how it is in Australia right now and it makes me sad. In truth, we aren’t doing so well over here in the states either. “Dwindling” is the word of the day. 😒

Awesome! Hopefully yours arrives in great condition. By some accounts that’s not always happening. No one knows just how “limited” this release will end up being so good on you for acting quickly to secure one. I’m about 90% sure I’ll be keeping mine and in original cases at the point. I haven’t had any misfortunes with this kind of packaging when it comes to the more durable DVD and Blu-ray sets that use it. I don’t like it beyond its space-saving benefits though. So far I’m leaning toward keeping the set and leaving it intact as is. I appreciate you chiming in!

@@SumDumGy Cool, I hope the picture quality of the 4K transfer is as good as I've been hearing. I hate "digibooks" with cardboard sleeves because my Alfred Hitchcock Collection V1 and Back to the Future trilogy both arrived with discs crushed in those stupid cardboard sleeves. I simply don't trust them.

@@jamesphillips4599I’m hearing great things, as well. The review over on Blu-ray.com is stellar. I think I’m going to check out a few reviews here on UA-cam, too. Yeah, I hear ya. Although I’ve never had any issues, I tend to remove just about everything from digibooks. My Back to the Future 4K trilogy went right into my beautiful steelbook. Just swapped the discs. More compact that way, too. I have all three of those Hitchcock sets. I wish they had gone a different route but I’ll remedy that on my own in the near future as I did the others. I think my standards on TV are more relaxed so long as it’s not 4K.

What leads you in the direction of preferring the widescreen Blu-ray set, friend? My player/TV is really hit and miss in how DVDs get upscaled. I have a few movies on DVD that look terrible on it. I don’t think I’ve tried to watch my Seinfeld DVD set since I upgraded to a 4K set-up though. I should give it a try. Thank you for watching and taking time to comment! I haven’t been in any of my local Targets now (3) for probably a couple years. When last I was, there was maybe an end cap in the store I was in. It definitely stopped being worth going in to check. You can see what my local Walmarts are doing in this series. It’s sad. Right now, selection-wise, Barnes & Noble is the only brick and mortar source worth visiting. However, when I stopped in the other day on other businesses, I noticed absolutely no real organization to how their physical media is arranged, aside from having a spot exclusive for TV. I noted a number of titles there I had already purchased over the previous month for sometimes half the price. The only thing B&N accomplishes is encouraging me to go directly to the sources of say, Kino Lorber, GRUV, Criterion Collection, etc., because there’s no advantage to shipping at the store.

Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! These two local Walmarts I’ve featured in this series had “The Cheapy Cheapy Bins” probably as recently as five years ago, maybe less. These two stores featured $5 DVD bins and $7 Blu-ray bins. They were both blessing and curse. Aside from those, both stores had “admirable” selections to choose from on their shelves, end caps and free-standing kiosks. I could regularly make purchases at either store. My Black Friday hauls from these stores were always impressive. It’s because of the sharp and sudden decline that I’ve chose to create this series. Also, I feel it important to present the other side of the coin in contrast to other collectors who see their own local Walmart stores still carry a respectable selection and organized. Like you, I stock up. I have a nice TV library on disc. I don’t stream and I don’t do digital, so obtaining physical copies is key.

I used the footage to launch my channel. I’m just a guy and an iPhone, which may be what I always am. I had no experience either with filming or with any editing software. Very much an “off the cuff” approach. The audio issue… On one hand, I can’t hear what others are. On my end everything sounds fine and crystal clear. It’s difficult to fix what I cannot detect. In the other hand, traipsing around in near hundred degree heat will get a person panting under the best of circumstances. I hope to revisit this in the near future, possibly a redo for my channel’s one year anniversary. The weather will be better and I thought it may be an interesting experiment to compare if I’ve learned much in that time. I hope you’ll join me!

I agree! This was the first thing I ever filmed with the intent of posting on UA-cam, and also the first project I ever put together with any editing software. In short, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, just fumbling my way through this. The feedback I’ve received has me considering a revisit, possibly for the first year anniversary of my channel. I like to set myself apart in my unboxings as often as I can by not being just another UA-camr showing off only the week’s new releases. There’s much more to collecting than what’s hot and what’s now! As for your question… wow, that is specific! Honestly, I didn’t recognize the name as he’s not on my radar. I had to look him up and go through his filmography. It pains me to say that even with what I know I’ve seen and own with him in it, he doesn’t stand out to me. Do you have any recommendations for me to check out so I can see about changing that?
