Most of it looked bang average apart from the curry sauce. Didn’t look like the usual Chinese style curry sauce you get from the paste they buy from Wing Yips.

They look a bit small and are a bit expensive.

I've not been to Gornall's for years, might have to pay them a visit soon. My local pie shop now is Deans at Lane Ends which do Great pies too. Might be worth a try the next time you're in the area.

Travel to Troon there's a fish cafe on the high street fish supper two haddock fillets and chips absolutely Fantastic.

Excellent looking fish and chips especially for the price and always mushy peas and old school curry sauce I don't really think the hot Chinese style curry sauce goes with fish but that's just me. I don't know if you have reviewed it before but there is a chippy in Caerphilly in South Wales called Ship Deck and it is the winner of the 2024 fryer of the year award , so if you are ever in that vicinity maybe you could review it ?? 👍👍🐟🍟

Cworrrrr that fish looks absolutely delicious. Well meaty. Casing batter isn’t my fave either but that looked pretty good for a casing batter. The curry sauce looked real good too. So glad you gave the staff some kudos. Always nice to hear that. Great review James 😋

Sorry but it looked sh*te. Bog standard chips..the fish batter looked thick and soggy! Understand if you travelled home with it..but if that's pretty much straight out of the chippy..and the batter is like that..then it's shocking.

I'm from the North East and I've never heard of a Butter Pie. I have to say they're quite expensive compared to prices up here, but they look good.

Many town centres have decayed owing to initially large shopping malls and out-of-town retail parks with parking. Councils have also mismanaged commerce through greed and incompetence. Similarly councils think the solution is a failed attempt to recreate what once was, hence the comments about what it was like in the 1980s when what is required is imagination to do something different looking forwards and not backwards. Unfortunately our councillors are universally thick dull busybodies who are incapable of that degree of thought.

I much prefer Rounds Bakery in Preston. You'll never get a lukewarm one as they are always busy and straight from the oven. I live in the Ribble Valley and always travel to Rounds for our pies. Wonderful upload James 😊❤

This is an unfairly jaundiced view of Preston, where I am based for work in the lovely (and rejuvenated) Winckley Square, which didn't get a mention. Your pan of Fishergate bemoaned a single empty shop - how does that compare to many? Within a stone's throw there is an upmarket jeweller and a busy M&S as well as an historic tearoom. The Harris Museum, which got a brief view and mention, is currently undergoing a major refurbishment and redevelopment, as you point out later. Your pan up to the market showed a huge crane but failed to mention the reconstruction going on where the old and tired market used to be. 10 minutes' walk from where you were, you could have brought views of Avenham Park by the River Ribble, which also has been rejuvenated in recent years and is a lovely place to relax and walk. You seem to be a glass half-empty person.
