Why do Gen Z get such a bad rap in the workplace?
Very interesting 🕊️
I have been made aware of Brucella Canis just this evening. My female rescue Cane Corso is booked in for consultation with an Orthapedic Specialist on Monday for Cruciate surgery. I was told by the practice earlier that my girl will be required to be tested for Brucella as she is an import from Hungary. I adopted my girl from dogstrust in 2018. She was 5 months old & is now 6 years old. She was spayed after her first season. sadly she was diagnosed at 14 months old with Bi Latereal Hip Displasia. She had total hip replacement in her right hip in september 2022. I was not asked before her surgery to have her testesd for Brucella. Unfortunatley she now has Cruciate damage and will be tested for Brucella. Im now going to insist that they provide the goverment testing and not the In House testing. It is very conerning indeed so I am so grateful to of found this very informative video. I also have My Boy whom again I adopted from dogstrust. He is 7years old now, I adopted him at 11 months old. He was nutered at 10 months old whilst with dogstrust. He was imported in from Romania. Should i have my boy tested also? Can anyone advise on this please ? Both my dogs do not present with any symptoms.
Such valuable info on canine arthritis! Thanks for sharing these helpful tips for pet owners! 🐾💡
Can’t believe this video has barely any views!
This was an amazing bit of reassurance, thank you. My vet just put the fear of Dog in me saying that, in future my beloved Romanian dog Hamish will need to be tested before they will do any medical interventions. Fortunately he's fit as a fiddle, raw fed and hasn't needed any treatment for anything in over five years. When she mentioned euthanasia as an option if he tested positive and couldn't give me any idea what his chances of being positive are, my blood ran cold. So glad I found this. 🦮💝
I was surprised to see a terrapin on a raft in the pond when I was picking up some baby squirrels back in the lake 90's when I hand reread them for Carla Lane. The pond was out the back by her fox enclosure. I thought it was fake at first
The Raw Feeding Veterinary Society could be another one for networking.
I think I've had my share of special needs rabbits a you know Julian 😢
Will Thomas is an absolute scumbag. Not only does he fucked 12 year old boys. He’s a violent criminal don’t trust him or his wife. They killed in Elephant to try to talk to me because they won’t own up to the fact that they need to stop lying to the world Mandalao Elephant conservation is nothing but a sick lye
I have been in an emergency waiting room before with my dog. It cost me 350 just for assessment and another 250 for bloodwork. In the 3 hours, we waited over a dozen other animals through those doors, and each paid a minimum of 350. The medication has a huge markup as well. These vets are pulling in a huge amount of money and overcharging, so that is why people are upset. Check out the channel veterinary secrets he helps with a lot of at home solutions if you can't afford the vet for everything.
Love people not dogs.
I try to tell these types of facts to dog lovers but they dont want to listen.
Some dognut fucked their dog or their dog fucked them, and now we're all paying the price.
Why in the world can't people just grow up and stop this dog worship? If you all are thinking that you'll get points from GOD for harboring a dog or any animal you're mistaken. Stop this dog cult!!! Stop pushing dogs on decent people too. Stop blaming other animals. It's all from dogs.
Time to stop living with filth, people.
I am currently dealing with someone at my job(which is in vet med) and they have been sending me TONS of microaggressions. Management has stated that this person acts a certain way until they get to know you which is completely unprofessional. I have brought things up to management several times. There have been so many moments where I want to just be like "WTF is your problem?!" I know they are trying to get me to quit or actually blow up so they look better. Instead, I have made my case to the manager several times, they will not push me out because I actually do love this practice apart from this person, and if it continues (which I'm sure it will), there will be a sit down. You don't have to like me but I give you respect as a human being to not talk to you like complete garbage, I would like the same in return.
Great sharing, thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Please note: Louise has brought to our attention that a further explanation of positive predictive value (PPV) is required to clarify what this means for the dogs involved as many people will not realise what a PPV is or what it means for interpreting the test. PPV is in relation to dogs that have tested positive already, rather than dogs that have not yet been tested. It relates to the question that veterinary professionals need to ask once they have a dog with a positive result in front of them: "Given that this dog has tested positive, what is the probability that this is a true positive?" The answer is the PPV of the test in this situation and the value of the PPV interacts with both the specificity of the disease and with the prevalence of the disease among the population of interest. In the case of the Dogs Trust data presented in this presentation, the answer is that if the specificity is 99% (the APHA claim this figure for their parallel testing SAT and iELISA combined approach), and the prevalence of Brucella Canis is 1% (based on the Dogs Trust data and corrected to reflect excess cases above the expected rate of false positives), roughly 1 in 2 dogs will be a true positive, and 1 in 2 dogs will be a false positive. This is very different to a claim that one in two UNTESTED dogs will test positive and important that listeners appreciate this.
My vet actully supply’s me he’s own medications ie metacam.. vets £65 my vet has the same meds called aomthing ells £12 … only diffrence is he is privet and cares about animals
Hold on hold on! Most vets charge an absolute fortune for pet medicine I know a vet co owner and they told me personally the mark ups are crazy. You can buy pet medicine online with a prescription for a fraction of the cost of vet medicine from your vets. If vets in uk are facing backlash its because they are extremly greedy generally.
NHS should be dismantled.
What's their point?
The antibiotic was Clavaseptin 50mg
Great discussion, can you help with post anti biotic course my 20 year old cat had for a tooth abscess. The side affects are cronic diarrhoeaand sore joints, skin and probably more. It's been a week now.
Hi @jasmwestgate, really sorry to hear about your cat. Unfortunately we cannot give medical advice without seeing the patient in-person, the best thing to do is book an appointment with your vet and see what they say. Hope they're feeling better soon
sorry about the grammer..big fingers small keys
fascinating. does this cross overt o huans
There are definitely uses for stem cells in human medicine, it's a fascinating subject and we're really looking forward to the future of medical practice in general. We've only touched on veterinary work here due to the nature of our podcast, but there's plenty of applications for humans too!
Honestly get fed up of young vets who are more focused on the money and more often than not make scary suggestions of the "Could be's' diagnosis without ever getting to the bottom of the problem..The focus on pharma sales is running above animal care and causing more harm to animals than good..I've always found older private practice vets have skills and knowledge way above the commercial big vet business models, who tend to treat owners like idiots and run amok on scare tactics for cash and insurance premiums. There needs to be more transparency and regulation of these kind of money making practices.Animals shouldn't suffer to feed profit.
Excellent .
Tara was the one who convinced me to bring our cats to Animal Doctors without even knowing that she's convincing me just with her explanation about cats behaviour. First impression, I told myself wow this vet knows what she's doing very impressive. To cut short we did brought our cats, it wasn't cheap but I was just happy to pay because I trust that they are the type of doctors that have soul in their job. Unfortunately, the follow ups were so disappointing, they are dealing with us like robots and no soul at all. The doctor just send quotation without even talking to us how the procedure done and what we need to do to prepare the operations. SOULESS! I receive text messages for follow up vaccine which was opposite to what Tara was talking. I don't know if I get scared for my babies or back out letting them touch them, terrible really. I could trust my boys life to Tara because I'm convinced she care for her patients but for their staff and other doctors I don't know I'm scared.
Thank you for this gentleman and for Helen Macdonald for saying it how it is,a strong lady up against the tide of a gaslighting government. Thank you for standing up for truth and clarity.
Thank you for having me on the show, it was lovely to speak with you both!
👍👍
Amazing persons wow👍👍
Really enjoyed this summing up. Thank you. Dr Sean Wensley, author of Through A Vet's Eyes: How we can all choose a better life for animals! The 60 second challenge on ‘How to structure a pre-purchase consultation for somebody who's asking about pet advice.’ This consultation could be a game of two halves. It's a golden opportunity to speak to people and help them make the right choice of pets, and then how to look after pets. So, they think about which pet to get. The first part is to think about their lifestyle and circumstances. We’ll structure that around the acronym pets P-E-T-S Is your Place suitable for the type of pet that you're thinking about? Would you be able to Exercise, provide exercise opportunities for the animal that they would need? Would you have the Time to commit to their care. and if you have ‘S for Spend’ Do you have a realistic understanding of what their likely monthly lifetime cost is going to be? And that'll …create a short list of species and breeds and then for the chosen breed or species, you would counsel them through The Five Welfare Needs of that pet: Place, (Exercise,) Environment, Diets, Behaviour, Companionship and Health. If you know what all of those are for each pet, you're going to make a good choice.
Julian do you remember doing a Bobbitt on a squirrel for me about 9 years ago, in fact that became his name, sadly he didn't live much longer than 6 months 😞🐿️💚
Tramadol isn't controlled in the UK? It got scheduled in the US about 8 years ago for some bogus reason. Not even a true opioid imo.
Great video! I love Dr Divers work about reptile endoscopy
Glad you enjoyed it!
Actually the last statement isn't correct - piperine doesn't increase glucuronic acid conjugation - it inhibits it - and so potentially increases the absorption of curcumin! That's what you get for rushing!!
Great fun thank you vet ramblings
Thank you for watching!
Thank you all for the good informative video.
