Shooting to 4700 Yards With "The Fourteen Nine" & WTC Flat Line Bullets
Jon O'Neill, owner of 50 West Armory, has been dreaming of pushing the boundaries of long-range should-fired rifles for several years. In fact, he's tried to partner with several manufactures and spent a huge pile of money trying to make that dream a reality ... but for almost a decade he ran into issue after issue. But when he teamed up with Josh Kunz, the engineer who designed the new WTC Flat Line bullets, Jon finally started getting some traction. This month Jon and Josh went out to collect some velocity data at 2300 yards for a new 14.9mm cartridge and bullet they've been working on. They not only shot it to that distance, but they stretched it out to 4700 yards!!!

Staying On Target - PrecisionRifleBlog.com Muzzle Brake Tests
Переглядів 25 тис.9 років тому
This is an explanation of the test that I ran to see how well different muzzle brakes helped you stay on target. I used a bright Viridian laser attached to my Spuhr Ideal Scope Mount, and a target at 25 yards with a 1" grid target on it. Then I filmed it with using an video filmed at 120 frames per second, and analyzed the results on my computer.

Sweet. I can see why they are still selling this scope
У меня такая же оптика
Carbon fiber has a larger barrel channel.
Take this video down, and stop embarrassing yourself !
The thing is not a bench rest but it does significantly help steady the rifle when hunting. I use the field pod and the death grip. Have killed many deer and coyote over 300+ yards. I am going to get the XSR and modify it it fit a lighter more portable tripod.
I wish all action reviews were this detailed. Almost all just give a blanket "700....." or similar comment. It's so unusual to see close ups of the little details that can be shown, which is so much better than commentary. Karagias has been in some videos but he gets hard to follow and doesn't always show the details, i will say he has a great breakdown if the Archimedes bolt though. Still I wish for more reviews even in standard ruffles that showed more details like you just did.
Lately I've been really into looking at what's the best scope for a most Value... What Scope would you say has the most accuracy out of all them 🤔
So, a .56 cal Bullet traveled 2.6 miles in 4 seconds?
What is the brand and p/n of the one piece mount with the lever locks that Todd uses? I can't find the video he mentions it in... WillyB
I love this scope and its locking turrets for hunting as well as prs. Also the simplest way to slip scales that i have owned so far. Very hard to choose between this scope and my vortex razor gen 2 7c for upcoming match. I hate dealing with set secrets and I love the robust turret design of the xrs. The reticle and parallax adjustments leave something to be desired.

Awesome review!
How much does it weights? Anything over 30lbs is just too heavy.
Why is anything over 30 lbs too heavy? You're not going to lug this thing through the jungle. The weight helps with recoil too and makes it so you can shoot it.

WOW. I've never seen an elevation turret like that. Talk about never getting lost in the revolutions!! But, $7k.... Yeah... on sale for $6,500 sometimes LoL.
Good to know
Good to know what? He's comparing a fiberglass stock to a carbon fiber stock. Not a fair comparison whatsoever
@@JasonTabaszewski Information is always good for those who don't know it. Keep it positive, brother. We are here to help folks learn.
@VaMike9 you're not really helping folks learn though when you're not comparing like items
@JasonTabaszewski Information is Information, what the user does with that is up to them. Cal has contributed a lot to the shooting community, I'm going to leave it at that.
@@VaMike9 cool, just because you simp for him doesn't make it a fair comparison.
I love both of my U.S. optic st10 scopes
Good morning Mr. Zant, I am writing to you here because I have not found any e-mails to tell you about: I have seen his test on PrecisionRifleblog about the riflescope contrast, I am doing something similar I would like to ask you: what are the dimensions of the sheets that used to print the "Snellen Chart" sheet? A3 or other dimensions? I have to test 2 riflescope at 100 (meters) and I want to make a paper print of the Snellen chart! Thank you in advance for your help.
CAl, I just bought a 6.5 CM Browning X-Bolt Pro (CF stock) and am getting this scope, FFP, mil/mil, illuminated scope, number indexed reticle. I need a small but high quality scope for long range hunting here in Nevada. This scope seems perfect. Getting a "gently used" one from a guy in Montana. The Tract Toric was very attractive with Schott glass and many good features for a lot less money but weighed TEN more ounces! That ruins the advantage of my 6 lb. 1 oz. X-Bolt Pro mountain rifle. Still shooting my 6.5 CM Ruger Precision Rifle W/Bushnell ERS 3.5 - 21 x 50 (H59 reticle) scope. Love the accuracy.
Why you compare it to the remington 700 or other push to feeds is unknown to me?. I don't understand as to why the comparison would not be to the classic mauser action and why this one may have advantages over it?
Shot show.... A whole week of guns being pointed at you
I think the Browning X-Bolt Pro carbon fiber stock may be the stiffest HUNTING rifle CF stock made. It is 360 degree wrapped CF on a compressed foam core and vacuum is applied to remove excess epoxy. I'd welcome a "bare stock" test between various CF Hunting rifle stocks. I say hunting stock B/C target stocks will be larger and inherently stiffer due to the increased size. We want to compare apples-to-apples in a test like this. In such a test a deflection gauge is the instrument of measurement. It can measure fore arm up/down deflection and side-to-side deflection. Also a longitudinal twisting (torque) test of the entire stock length may be of interest as well. Since carbon fiber stocks are made for utmost lightness we can also say that a measurement of "deflection v.s. weight" be applied. i.e. a lighter stock may have more deflection than a heavier stock and a ratio formula of weight-to-deflection should be listed. No? Eric B.
Just a 7K scope no big deal! Lol
What is the point of calling that thing anything but a Mausercopy? The M1903 Springfield itself is pretty much a Mauser copy. So those two rifle actions aren't different. They're virtually identical. And this "Mausingfield" action is pretty much a complete Mauser copy. Wow. Creative.
It is absolutely nothing of the sort. You have not the slightest clue if what you speak.
Saw your article on their nautilus action. Been thinking about them for a .224 valkyrie rifle. Any idea if they will barrel and action and put a trigger in so all I need to do is drop it in a chassis?
Definitely one of the best solutions out there i've seen.
the xsr is crappp. even without that extra play , you need one that you can tilt forward and up, this thing is 2 rigid and doesnt allow enough movment to follow , track and adjust for the shot. my spotting scope tripod is better than this and 1/4 the price
I have a question. I am using the Schmidt Bender 3-12x50 PM II model. My scope will turn to yellow with a zero when you turn it one turn. And when you rotate it all the way down, 0 is displayed in black. When I screw the turret after acquiring a zero, what should I do? Is yellow marked 0? ? Or the black 0?
박대운 Black is your actual zero, the yellow indicates that you are on the second revolution of your elevation turret. Hope this helps.

Great review and whip smart product...need to save my pennies and dimes.
Always puzzled me why the Remington bolt action was so popular since it has the weakest extractor in history ! Yes, very aware of their claimed 3 rings of steel strength but that is overhyped BS, imo. Always lover the big Mauser extractor best and believe Mausingfield will prove to be an awesome action that's far superior to the Remington and most others. Sure, it's a lot more money but worth it if you want the best !
Claw extractors and "controlled round feed" are also "overhyped" and have issues of their own. But if you like them you shouldn't need a "Remington 700 clone" action "modified" with a claw extractor. Get a pre-'64 Winchester Model 70. And by the way, the EXTRACTOR has nothing to do with the "3 rings of steel" BESIDES being PART of ONE of the rings. And using a claw extractor in a Remington 700 "clone" maintains the "3 rings of steel". The three rings of steel are the bolt head, receiver and barrel. Sticking a bigger extractor IN the bolt head actually "weakens" the three rings of steel. There. Now you can go spam 700 "clone" videos with real knowledge. And if you don't know what "controlled round feed" is, you have no clue why the "claw extractor" is supposedly "superior".
Todd - turn the music down so we can hear you talk. Next time you're in Prescott, call me and we'll smoke some long range coyotes. Dinner's on me.
This is just insane lol. ~1 MOA at up to 3 miles is what I'm hearing? Perfect for taking out ammo dumps or large fuel tanks from WAY beyond enemy lines, and more than enough to scare the shit out of anybody driving a technical. They would literally never know what hit them. Artillery when you don't have it, and air support when you need it. O.o
You do not know what hit you from 1000 yards, muchless 1760, muchless 1760 x 3
@@KevinWood44 Figuring out a general direction from the entrance and exit wounds going through multiple people isn't impossible. And as we found to our disadvantage in Afghanistan, a thousand yards will feel a lot smaller in the mountains than in an urban setting.
@@spdcrzy you would certainly know better than me but I was talking about if a bullet hit me (or close to me) from 1000 yards away I am not going to have a clue how far away it was shot from. Can you even hear the shot from that far? Assuming you survived the shot, the crack/bang only works within 450-500 yards right?
This Ted guy is a genius. I just found my dream rifle
Yep dont understand why you are not comparing it to McMillan carbon fiber stock. I bet a manners fiberglass stock without the bdl chassis has just as much flex. You really need to compare like products not one companies top tier product to anthers mid level.
all the fundamentals are off in this.
I'd imagine you'd have to tweak the fundamentals at least a LITTLE bit to avoid breaking bones with this thing.
Cal, I am a Fan Boy of yours. You have a fact/ testing based blog like none other! Suggestion: in this video your black shirt makes the mags hard to see when you were talking about them.
You have my admiration, you are doing a great job.
Your PRblog is a testement to how knowledge is capable of making vast improvements to ones development, thank you for your time and efforts it makes a difference.
All my Us Optic scopes perform extremely well.
What do you think of these scopes now that they have added a christmas tree style reticle to there lineup? It looked to me like the scope actually performed quite well in the tests you ran. The two main shortcomings were the lack of reticle options and the somewhat limited travel.
Thank you for all the great review, I really enjoy you way of presenting the data. I recently bought a ruger precision rifle and look for the correct optic for it. In doing my research i stumbled on a post the you said you would be reviewing Tactical Scopes $200-$1400 (scopes like SWFA Super Sniper, Nikon, Leupold Mark AR & Mark 4, Vortex Viper PST, Nightforce SHV, and others precisionrifleblog.com/2013/03/07/best-long-range-scopes-buyers-guide-and-features-to-look-for/) i was wondering if this ever happened and if so where could i find the link or what book i need to buy. I'm currently debating between the Leupold Mark AR and the Vortex Viper HS-T. Sorry for posting on an old video but i couldn't figure out how to post on precisionrifleblog.com noticed you haven't posted in a while and i hope everything is alright.
what barrel are you using in the mausingfield
