Play and Process Based Art. Hi! I'm Alison Rae, a Play and Process Based Artist and Art Enrichment Educator for children and adults. I am a professionally trained Studio Artist with a Masters in Art Education. I am the owner of The Art Crate, a Mobile Art Enrichment Studio. I have sold and shown and taught my ways for over 20 years.
Obsessed with making messes, I use weird and wacky finds to make and teach a very hands on Art approach. Recycled materials, imaginative ideas, and pushing the limits of traditional Art Making ideas found in most learning environments is my focus, along with making and celebrating all the mistakes along the way.
Learning through Play and Process Art, allows the freedom to explore, take risks, imagine, build new skills, and practice humor, while leaving laughter in the air.
I'm sharing my process here with the hope to inspire you to make, create, share and explore on your own through Art making, Art exploring, and Art Teaching.

This Art Project from The Art Crate is a Step by Step Tutorial on How to Make Fabric Bowls with just four (4) ingredients using Recycled Materials.
Follow along! You need:
Plastic Wrap
A recyclable container
Fabric bits, string, yarn, etc.
Regular School Glue (lots of it!)
Add glitter, or embellish how you choose from here!
Process Art is at the heart of this Art Project. Enjoy the Process. Get messy. Try not to overthink it. Just go with it. It's going to turn out Fabulous.

Thanks so much! Great tutorial! If you want to sew some beads or buttons for embellishment When can you do it? When it's still wet?
Great! That might take some experimenting. The fabric gets pretty hard in the recycled container mold when dry. Sewing might be a challenge. You could glue embellishments on after the piece dries though, with a stronger glue, or if you are set on sewing, you could also sew them into a different piece of fabric, and not apply it like we did in the tutorial, let the piece dry first and maybe just attach it after by applying the glue on one side of the sewn embellished fabric only, if that makes sense. Let us know what you discover!

Step by Step was just posted. I'm currently playing with textiles and paint on canvas. I'll get some results posted.
Wrap bowl in cling wrap, using white glue that dries clear or mod podge, glue fabric bits to bowl. When dry, remove bowl, peel off cling wrap and there you go. Seems easy enough but haven’t tried it myself.

Cool fish prints! Lucky you found those old fish molds. I've heard people actually buy a whole fish to use for printing this way. I can't imagine it's edible after that! What we'll do for art!

I record in Landscape on my iPhone through OBS on my computer. I use CapCut too in 16:9.
