In this exclusive insight, we delve deep into the world of dancing footwear with Tarcisio. He unveils the critical connection between shoe selection and your dance longevity. Watch as he meticulously explains how the alignment of your shoes, from heels to toes, can impact your balance and influence your ankles, knees, and back.
Tarcisio walks you through various shoe examples, demonstrating the ideal alignment and stability that every dancer craves. But it's not just about stability; it's about finding shoes that embrace the natural curves of your feet. He emphasises the importance of shoes that align seamlessly with your foot's shape, ensuring your big toe isn't cramped inside, allowing for natural movement and positioning.
However, the quest for the perfect dancing shoes doesn't end there. Tarcisio sheds light on the challenge of finding well-fitted shoes with the right straps, essential for preventing slips and ensuring optimal comfort on the dance floor. Because, let's face it, your everyday choices, including your shoes, influence your dance performance more than you think.
At the heart of it, Tarcisio reminds us that dancing isn't just a passion; it's a way of life. Your choices, both on and off the dance floor, shape your dance journey. So, gear up, choose your shoes wisely, and let's dance our way to a lifetime of passion and joy!

I started classes in 1994. I got the ad from the phonebook. Back then classes were in some random hall. I was looking for something called tango, but when I heard "the girl from ipanema" I spent the next 4 years absorbed in all the latin styles. Then one saturday night at a social, everyone left the dance floor. A tango demo began. this was the first class. The moment the music started, my heart left my body out onto the dance floor. It was Gallo Ciego. I remember thinking "of course, this is why I came here in the first place. I must move to this". I commenced a journey that would last to this day some 25 years later. I spent two years in Buenos Aires, moved to Melbourne and now Perth. It was to take me years to realise the importance of all those exercises Tarcisio would put us through. I had the benefit of his syllabus. Tango is not for everyone, but for me I found a niche. I will never forget that night nor Gallo Ciego. Soy tanguera para siempre.

Hi Jose, I understand the confusion. Bolero is the closest style to the Brazilian Zouk, and both differ greatly from the original Zouk. The main difference is that Brazilian Zouk comes from Lambada, which makes the dynamic very different. With a little change of basic steps and feeling, quite a few of those moves and combinations would fit perfectly with Brazilian Zouk.

That’s not traditional bolero. Nor is that bolero music. Bachata evolved from bolero.

Good dancing. Great partnerwork, just not bolero. Unless the country you live in created their own version of bolero

Hi@@barnes307, Thank you very much for bringing it up. I understand where you come from. It is a bit confusing. In Brazil, was created (probably 80 or more years ago) a dance style to dance to romantic songs; at that time, romantic songs were practically only bolero. The dance style started to be known as Bolero. Not many bolero songs were composed as they used to be, so we Brazilians started to dance Bolero with songs that made us feel to express this dance, usually romantic songs. That is the confusion, we dance Bolero with bolero songs and songs that are not bolero. Personally, I prefer authentic bolero songs, but I also dance to other songs if I feel gliding through the dance floor with some romantic song. Thank you for bringing this up, I hope it makes sense! Tarcisio

Hi, @barnes307. Rio Rhythmics is in Australia; this beautiful couple are Brazilians Juliana and Rafael. When we start to teach this dance style, we always explain what I said in my other reply to make sure our students understand, but is hard when we put a video out. A similar challenge happens with a style called Brazilian Zouk, which was only danced with Zouk songs for a limited time. Thank you. Tarcisio

The term "sensual" refers to something connected to the gratification of the senses. This can encompass a range of experiences, including those that may have a sexual component, but it ultimately depends on the intentions and context of the individuals involved. Sensuality can be expressed in various ways, such as through touch, taste, smell, or aesthetic appreciation, and the degree to which it is associated with sexuality will vary based on personal choices and cultural norms. I just discovered that Latin dance was considered sensual or even sexy when I started to teach in Australia. In Brazil, since childhood, I danced with my mother (from whom I learnt my first steps). I danced with my sister and my female friends the same way. We dance close because we are a huggy culture, not afraid to embrace, and we have a strong African influence, so we have fluid body movement, which can be for some who watch interpreted as sensual and for some, who dance, to make it sexual (a lot exploited by performers) It is highly recommended for children, in a reputable studio, in a supervised environment), to learn to relate with others in a healthy way.
