Die ifs Internationale Filmschule Köln ist eine künstlerisch-wissenschaftlich ausgerichtete Aus- und Weiterbildungsinstitution für Medienschaffende. Das Portfolio der ifs umfasst den Bachelor-Studiengang Film mit den Studienschwerpunkten Drehbuch, Regie, Kreativ Produzieren, Kamera, Editing Bild & Ton, VFX & Animation und Szenenbild sowie die Masterstudiengänge Serial Storytelling, Digital Narratives, 3D Animation for Film & Games, Film und Entertainment Producing. Vision statement: Empowering Workers Through Play
Synopsis:
Resist is an episodic narrative game based on a story inspired an ongoing labour movement within Amazon.com Inc.
Resist combines narrative depth with engaging gameplay mechanics to immerse players in the life of a warehouse worker navigating the challenges of a demanding job at Emazon, a fictional stand-in for Amazon. The game blends casual, strategy, and simulation genres, exploring workers' rights, the importance of collective action, and the struggle against corporate exploitation. It is designed to resonate with Amazon workers, college and university students, activists, and players interested in narrative-driven games that address social and economic themes.
Beyond offering immersive gameplay, Resist aims to educate players about the significance of unionization and collective bargaining in the modern workplace. Through strategic decision-making, negotiation, and persuasion, players experience the complexities of organizing and the impact of their choices on the game’s world. The game’s purpose extends beyond entertainment; it seeks to inspire players to reflect on real-world labor issues, fostering a greater understanding and appreciation for the value of collective action in advocating for workers' rights.
