Did you add any transition? Or go st8 bank? I’m going to build one and I’m torn between adding the transition or not. And if you didn’t add the transition, do you regret it? Thanks for your insights.
So I made this based off the keen ramp video they posted This one is probably most like the first attempt keen ramps made because the bank sides are strait without any curved transition. I do wish I curved the transition but I couldn’t because the plywood I used was 3/4” think The rail I used is smooth I found the rail on the side of the road. It was a street sign pole that someone probably hit with their car All the wood and screws I found in the dumpster of home depot The only thing I actually paid for was the clear coat I painted on the wood/rail. That step wasn’t completely necessary but thought it might help preserve the ramp since I’m currently in Portland and it rains a bunch I’d also recommend shooting for the 8 foot length 4 foot is too short feels like the grind is over before I realize what’s happening and my slapstick is 6’5” long (weird length to end up with but I was working with the scraps I had available)
@@peterpatrickdenton thanks a million for the reply. I love you built yours almost totally off of scraps and finds! That’s amazing. I ended up making mine with the transition. It turned out great. I made mine 5.5 feet. Based it off the steel pole I got from Home Depot. It’s a good length at 5.5 feet. To your point, it’s still a bit short. It needs to be a minimum 6ft. I’m happy but if I make another down the road it will be at least 6ft. What you have at 6.5ft would be ideal length. Thanks again for the reply and have a blessed day.
@@cptcarl83hi how much did it cost?
@@markbanshey man. I also followed the keen ramp instructions to a tee. With that in mind, I got all my materials new from Home Depot. Lumber, metal post, and hardware ran me $120ish. In hindsight, I would have purchased metal plates to run along the bottom where the ramp hit the street. My wheels have caught that edge a lot and I ride 54mm. I’ll be purchasing the metal sheets soon. Other than that my slap stick has been a blast. Ohhh… one last thing. If possible, make it 7ft and not 6ft like I did. At 6ft it’s a blast but really wish I had that extra foot to play with. I hope this helps dude.
thanks@@cptcarl83
