Hahaha in my childhood in 90s, we also had that at home. Connected to a 12inches SUBWOOFER, with MIDRANGE, and a TWEETER. Whenever i set the BASS in full blast, even our furnitures at home and our glass windows literally vibrates

This stereo amplifier have a gorgeous voice. The circuit work with symmetrical differential pair pioneered by Marshall Leach and uses big Sanken transistors in output stage.

I have this exact unit! 😄 It was given to me by my late grandfather before he passed, and was originally gifted to him along with a Kenwood (I believe) turntable, and a pair of Kenwood speakers. My grandfather also added an Aiwa tape deck recorder to complete the package. What an amazing setup for its time (1975 - 1979). Still sounds great now after all these years, truly one of my most prised possessions, of course with the sentimental value to me being far than any dollar figure could ever equal. 😊

Hey I live out in regional Victoria and I'm trying to help someone get the tuner working for this same set up. Would you be able to help? If so the main problem I'm having is receiving a signal, it's patched to the Amp and sending out static but that's it. I looked around and there's an external signal booster though it doesn't seem to do much of anything. What can I do to get the tuner worker? The current owner said she used to be able to get ABC radio so at some point it was receiving a signal.

I have one. Grand baby blew out the right channel. Haven't found someone to repair it. Not sure of the cost to do that. Have Infinity speakers and a Dual turn table. Believe it or not. Even have a Sears double cassette player. But that receiver had the best sound. Gives me goose bumps still. I have had it since it was brand new. And I am 71 years old. LOL.

Is that turntable need external preamp or just plug in directly to the amplifier? since that amp had a phono input, cause I had that amp and I'm planning to buy a vintage turntable

Tone controls? No! Use direct.

That preamp is a thing of beauty, brutalist in its build but invites you to tickle on its tone controls for almost every song. I have as 34/303 setup bought in the early days of ebay, so i managed to get them for a song. The sound from your setup translates really nicely onto youtube despite the compression.

One of the great features of this amp is that you could transparently add an equalizer via an in/out pair and a sliding switch. I think it was intended for a preamp. Everything went through that before the amp, so a perfect place for an equalizer. The Heathkit 5-band fit perfectly on it!

I don't know what is insaide of this amp,but it have more power than harman kardon 980.

Does it sound as good as the higher ones like Yamaha CA-1000?

I love my DII, bought a few years back cheap, need the pots de-oxed, runs a set of mach 7's in the house and a set of old 2-way Jensons on the porch, frikken rocks in a small world, though I'm lucky enough to have neighbours who tell me to turn it up. A beautiful amp, lots of clean punch, and between its various filters and my speakers adjustments it can sound really fine and not break a bank.
