Disagree most with your take on the industrial world, as I really like the gimmicks in the factory levels. On the other hand, yes, Chimp Caverns is a step down in atmosphere and fun, and I too wish there were fewer cave levels in favor of more jungles or forests.

DKC 1 had always been my favourite of the trilogy, up until I played the original SNES version on NSO, turns out that the GBA version that I played all my life fixed a lot of problems with the gameplay, added a whole lot of substantial contnent and quality of life upgrades (like removing the seizures) and even improved the soundtrack as a whole in spite of the GBA's inferior sound chip, with the only real downgrade being the graphics In contrast, DKC 2 and 3 still hold up amazingly in comparison to their GBA counterparts, and DKC2 in particular might be best overall in SNES I still hold the opinion of DKC1 being the best of the trilogy but now exclusively on GBA, as it irons out almost every flaw of the SNES version to create an almost flawless experience, while DKC2 and 3 were already almost flawless from the get go

You fight the King on a ship because he’s not native to the island, so he would need a big fancy ship to have come to invade Donkey Kona’s island. That ship is as close to being his “home turf” as would be possible (until the second game at least…).

24:24 fun fact, if you do that barrel section as fast as possible, meaning you shoot to the next barrel the first chance you get with each barrel, there’s a 3up balloon waiting for you at the end. Discovered it by accident like a decade ago, YEARS after playing it for the first time in ‘94. Blew my mind that the game still had secrets for me to discover 🤯🦍🍌

Fun video! I do agree and feel the level theme balance is a bit awkward, and I routinely forget Chimp Caverns exists. So many cave levels... I know DKC3 has an equal number of every time each theme appears which I appreciate a lot, so they never really overstay their welcome. Does that make sense? I'd love to hear your feelings on DKC2!

my favorite stage was always and it will probably always be Platform Perils, it's really fun jumping from platform to platform and the Gray Krusha is a highlight

Winky was changed for Rattly because the latter's hitbox is much clearer for precise platforming. His design is more appealing, but less imaginative than Rattly, in my opinion.

FINALLY. Somebody FINALLY admits that DKC1 is the worst of the original 3. Its movement is just too stiff imo, so I’ve never seen the hype for the first one. Obviously, I’ve beaten it, but u have to say, I loved the levels and movement more in 2 and 3.

Oooh DKC3 appreciator! I’m still not sure whether I prefer 1 or 3, both are great, obviously 2 is my favorite I know a lot of people don’t like Winky for his odd hit box and controls, but I like your unique perspective on him! Very fun video and well made

The Kremling cart at the end of Minecart Carnage is a bit annoying, but the biggest troll enemy in the game is definitely the jumping Kroc at the end of Loopy Lights. That one always ticked me off. Especially since Loopy Lights as a level is way harder than Minecart Carnage.

Argh. I hate using Winky. His controls are bad. I always have an easier time in a level when I DON'T use him.

Fear Factory is the best stage theme in DKC, even if the actual stages aren't great. Stressful beats to lose your cool to.

Would you guys believe me that Sergei looks awfully like Qubeley gundam. From the pointy shoulders to the 1 eye cause the mask hides the other. Hell it even has the 5 colors that they share I.E.: white(the coat), red (the scratches), blue(the hair), purple/violet(the inner coat) & pink(in the portrait). If this is a coincidence then it is 1 hell of a coincidence. Once you know this, you cannot un-know it. You're welcome. 😅

I can't believe how rare some of the themes are

Played the CG and DS version (that one does have a shop for parts) and it's been my favorite to this day to play. I really wish it gets a re-make but the creators have confirmed to have lost the license for the "Custom Robo" Name.

I love this game~ It has been so long. Also... as a trans woman that, at the time, male, gravitating towards Aerial Beauties... the joke about the main character cannonically doing the end of fight poses... Hm... there really were no clues about myself XD.

I have Custom Robo Arena for the DS and had a blast.

You can kinda clearly tell with Nintendo at this point based on what they've done recently, but they absolutely do not know what to do with sci fi anymore. Star fox, metroid, f zero Any franchise that is supposed to be about sci fi seems to either get completely shelved, or solely ends up getting developed by a different company. Star fox zero was developed and designed by platinum. Metroid was left to die before being given to mercury steam and retro. What they need to do is let other companies have little tastes of their ips so they can breath new life into them, like what happened with mario rabbids.

having semi-recently played Custom Robo on the gamecube... That game is a riot :3 It's one of the unironically funniest games I've ever played, and I rarely hear people mention that aspect. All of the characters are hilarious, there's constant formula shakeups, 4th wall breaks, even the generic NPCs get silly commentary :3 Amazing game too.

I loved CustomRobo as a kid, had a blast playing it with my cousin.

The reason why Nintendo thinks that we don't want a new F-Zero Game is because they released three different Mode 7 graphic style games on the same console and surprised it didn't sell well past the first installment. They are acting like F-Zero Racers want more Mode 7 games. GIVE US A NEW X OR GX GAME, PLEASE

This game was a part of my childhood and I remember it being basically the first RPG like experience of going through a story while getting to explore and talk to the people throughout the game. I still ended up enjoying it and always liked the arena combat and I also liked how it was like the gameplay in Sonic Battle in terms of how battles were handled.

Seeing Sin & Punishment like that HURT…

I played so much Custom Robo as a kid, I'd love to see it return either on the Switch or it's successor
