It's just the dance didn't evolve out of social dancing. It doesn't really work with swing music, since swing music is written in 4 and 8 count measures. 6-count swing was created to teach people who knew nothing how to get out on the floor after one lesson. It accomplishes that, it's just kind of vanilla, and misses the soul and spirit of the origins of swing/jazz music and the dances that were developed by the african american community.

Jive is really only danced in the ballroom community. Lindy Hop is much more common at social swing dancing events.
