@@constantinvasiliev2065 I cant speak for everyone else but in my experience the side sword and dagger has reach and a greater thrusting capacity, however I feel the defence is stronger with the sword and buckler so if using them you close the distance you can control the side sword while attacking with your own. But if we had a million exchanges most would be unique I don't think there is a clear cut answer for this one.

Your trained accuracy. speed and reflexes will be invaluable. You will need to adapt to slightly heavier weapons but all the Olympic fencers I have trained/trained with have been extremely good swordsman and take to HEMA really well becoming dangerous opponents. You should for sure try it, see if there is a club near you.

​@@JuanP-e9vsorry for the late reply I had a tourney this weekend so didn't get a chance. So it depends on the Tournament you are fighting in, but generally there are points awarded depending on where you strike that are supposed to represent how lethal the blow would be. A cut or thrust to the mask is three points for example, as is a thrust to the torso, a cut to the torso arms or legs is 2 points. We also have afterblow rules so say I was to cut you on the arm but you also cut me on my mask within a few moments of my hit landing (you may have been mid swing when I hit you) you hit while and afterblow would be considered 'in tempo' meaning it's counted as a hit. Our points the cancel each other out and the remaining difference is the score, so I had 2 you had three, you are awarded 1 point for the exchange even though it was a double because your hit was deemed better than mine. It can sound complicated but it's not really. If you are interested in reading the actual rule sets go to Wessexleague.org and they will have them listed properly for your reading. Hope that helps?

You can look online for HEMA clubs locally. Aside from. That you could always start your own club? You can find most of the historical sources we use on a website called Wiktenauer.com.
