One rather glaring omission from the review is that you can send the 40x back to American and have it completely remade. And per AHC 40X is 50/50 so a good felt, definitely above average.

That is.the.most.hideous shape for a cowboy hat. That big flat squared front brim. With the 90 degree crease. Looks like a wide taco or the munchin mayors hat in the wizard of oz.

Hi! This is the first time I have ever seen hock wraps before and I had a few questions. I have a horse that in the last year or so has naturally developed some gradual hock fusion that caused a lot of lameness issues for us last show season before we had it diagnosed and treated. He just finished treatments not too long ago, and then immediately got kicked in the pasture and is lame again (of course 🙄) so we have yet to see if the treatments worked. Our vet also recommended giving equioxx before big shows to help with any additional pain that comes with heavy riding. What specifically do hock wraps help with, and how do they work? Is there a reason why you personally use them? I did some research and found some ice/cooling hock wraps. Do you have any experience or knowledge on those as well? They look like they could be a super helpful training tool in the future, and I’m very excited to try them, but I wanted to do a bit of research first. Thanks!

The X designation doesn't really mean much on these modern hats. Vintage Stetsons like a 3x Beaver or a 7X Beaver were far better quality hats than the modern 40X or 100X hats. The splotchiness on the brim after cleaning was more than likely powdered dye that washed out. Manufacturers will use powdered dye to even out the color during the hat making process. Felting and dyeing quality in vintage hats were far better. It's a lost art

Take out one of your flat presses and replace them with a shoulder lateral movement. You have a ton of chest volume with no shoulder isolation.
