How hard would it be to move 20 sites from Elementor to Bricks?
You would need to entirely rebuild the site to move it to Bricks. I wouldn’t typically recommend that unless it’s an e-commerce site and Google PageSpeed is failing horribly as this will impact search rankings.
Basically Bricks is Webflow in Wordpress… nice👌 Coming from Webflow, this actually makes Wordpress worth looking into again after I said goodbye many years ago
@@chrifur i am not super familiar with Webflow but I think your analysis is correct.
What are your thoughts on JetEngine vs ACF? Functionality, speed, stability, etc. It seems to have a lot more capability in some respects and a little less in other respects. JetEngine does support Bricks now.
I quit using JetEngine when we started with Bricks because the bloat scares me. And there was overlap between Elementor and JetEngine features that just got really confusing. Especially templates. I think JetEngine is a solid plugin but I don’t currently use it.
Great tutorial! had a question. what would be the difference of installing a new site via the duplicator method shows in the video vs just creating a blank WordPress site and just adding the same plugins afterwards? Also, do you charge for a basic gravity forms subscription? or is it better to purchase the unlimited and just make that part of a web development agencies monthly costs? I'm looking to build a site for a client using Gravity Forms but don't want to get stuck paying their monthly gravity forms subscription if that makes sense.
I choose my premium plugins very carefully and whenever I can, I will buy whichever version gives me unlimited or one time prices. This gives me fixed costs that I can use predictably to set my monthly pricing. A contact form plugin would totally fit that bill for me, I would buy it, and include it in the monthly cost. Contact Forms are way to important to loose contact form entries over. You can always install from scratch if you like to configure everything, every time. The point of the "blueprint" is that you can configure predictable things like header / footer / home / contact page templates, even create a contact form, and embed it on the page as part of the blueprint, and then your site is so much closer built before you even start. Every week I am finding tweaks that make it back into my blueprint that will speed up the site building process for my next site build. I have mine to the point where I do very little configuration twice anymore.
@@WPTotalCraftThanks for the info. I tried uploading the blueprint but hostinger uses MariaDB instead of the MySQL db that is used by the template. Not sure if I should proceed since it could cause compatibility issues : (
@ that should be fine. Pretty sure my servers are also running MariaDB. It’s cross compatible. Did you get warnings when you tried to install it?
Amazing tutorial. All good no nonsense content only comes from Canadians. Bring it back Canada.
Eh! Yes! WordPress tutorials with a Canadian English accent. I wondered when someone would notice!
now a comparison with gutenberg + kadence vs bricks and why anyone would care about pagebuilders in 2025 :)
I don’t actually have any experience at all with Kadence or Gutenberg. How do you think it compares? I can’t even write a blog post in Gutenberg without going crazy.
@@WPTotalCraft What problems do you run into when writing blog posts? Personally, I might haven gotten so used to it now, that I'm not aware of severe UX issues that others are complaining about. However, while gutenberg alone might not be enough for you, Kadence extends blocks and adds advanced blocks that makes it super powerful. I can't imagine going back to third party page builders that add another layer on top. I had so much headache cleaning all the elementor shortcodes when moving to a different system. So I stick to core as much as possible. It's not perfect but gets better over time. Like pulling dynamic data from custom fields as you showed with bricks is no problem at all. So maybe give it a try
@@tommy-gforce I like the idea of core only a lot. But when I try to write in Gutenberg the only emotion I feel is frustration. Back spacing through stuff trying to delete invisible empty blocks of crap just drives my OCD crazy. Having used WordPress since like 2013 I don’t even know where you would go to make a header and a footer
@@WPTotalCraft I feel ya. it takes time getting used to the block editor. and wordpress team is moving super slow and keeping adding new stuff instead of smoothing out existing things. also the transition phase from customizer to full site editing is a mess when it comes to finding stuff.
@@tommy-gforce I feel like WordPress could have built a nice, fully functional core page builder by now with the effort that has gone into Gutenberg
I’d luv to see some truly modern dynamic custom site designs and styles built w Bricks pls
are you wanting to see tutorials of this being built, or just examples of sites that have been built in Bricks Builder?
Customer relations alone are a great reason to switch to Bricks. Elementor seems to have a huge amount of contempt for their client base. Buy into Elementor and you're buying into an abusive relationship. One where they act as though they own your website, not you. Ads, notifications, affiliate links, upsells, and any type of pestering one could dream up. It never ends. I installed Elementor on a new site recently and lost track of how many annoyances I had to dismiss. Then, they release god awful updates that break everything and starts a cycle of bug fixes that last weeks. Look at the changelogs. There have been a huge amount of updates that ran from Oct 28th through the holidays. Because... fixing things they break are what we all want to do during the holidays. Bricks has none of these problems. Not one. They respect their paying customers. Elementor seems hell bent on destroying theirs.
Agreed. The amount of bloat and ads and add-ons from Elementor is worrisome to me, especially when they're already the bloated page builder out there. We don't need prompts to install even more bloated plugins.,
Come on now. Elementor can also do that. Maybe you're not an Elementor user.
I used to use Elementor back when it was first released and thought it was the cats petunia. I soon missed the flexibility that we had enjoyed when we hand coded WordPress templates in the days before page builders and started on a journey. We used Astra Pro templates with Elementor initially, then Elementor templates we custom built, then we explored Oxygen Builder and settled on it for awhile. But it's aging, slow and frustrating even though it's capable. Then we looked at Breakdance, which is better all around than Elementor and in the same range, but it's very limited, like Elementor. When we took Bricks Builder for a spin, we realized it's what we'd been missing. It was modern, faster, the interface didn't piss you off, there was a CSS framework available, like we had been used to in Oxygen builder with Core and WooCore, and it allows us to drop PHP code into a page and run / parse it right in the preview. It's heavenly, I must confess.
I am a using WP for years, mainly with Elementor, and I have knowledge in HTML, CSS and JS. I would like to learn Bricks (which I bought 2 years ago LOL) what would be the best steps to get started quickly? Thx :D
Are you building a one off site or multiple sites as an agency?
Kevin Geary is the best: ua-cam.com/video/-huJ-SbO3BI/v-deo.htmlsi=1BOWKZCIWhZy_ib8
Who came up with this list? Gravityforms.. huh? Use WS Form! And the fact that you don't have Advanced Themer on this list as #1.. speaks volumes!
What 99% of bricks users don't already know this?
Welcome to 2025!
Im not saying that Bricks is not superior to Elementor, but you are not thinking about the average consumer of page builders, which are majority and most likely won't get too technical. So, what I mean is that Bricks might be aiming for a different market than Elementor, but that isn't a bad thing. You have shown what Bricks is capable of, and I think is great. But most people wont bother of those functionalities, and that is also great for us; because we can still be especialists and deliver more robusts solutions with Bricks.
What I wish is that Bricks had a popular free version, so that people wouldn't start as beginners with Elementor Free, then upgrade to Elementor Pro where they face the same challenges I did, as they skill up. Ultimately to end up with Bricks Builder, they need to make a switch in builders to get there, when Bricks is easy to use for easy headers and footers and normal page design as well.
It would be nice if you actually knew what you're talking about in Elementor. You got the grid loop and dynamic fields, you can also add prefix and text after the field. It looks smoother in Bricks, but Elementor as isn't bad as you described it. I might try Bricks soon but currently have almost no limitations on Elementor. Plus, elementor has a free version, although it's very basic. These builders are getting too expensive for my taste.
You're correct, we only scratched the surface on dynamic data. There are other videos on my channel that show query loops with repeater fields and 9th of child pseudo classes as well. You can take a look at them on my channel if you like. You're also correct that Bricks is smoother than Elementor. Anything Elementor can do, Bricks can do better. I wish Bricks has a free version, so beginners could get the foot in the door on a better builder, and then graduate to Pro as they skill up.
Elementor is super limited compared to Bricks Builder.
@@hlnhd yep, and it's not even close!
You can actually pull in dynamic data in the Elementor builder. I haven't tried Bricks yet but Elementor isn't that smooth but also not as bad as described
Yes definitely. You can use dynamic data in Elementor. It’s insanely inflexible though. Give it a try in Bricks though and you’ll likely not go back.
I'm interested in hearing how the client handover has been for Bricks users. Are you fully managing your Bricks sites, or does your client manage them?
We rarely hand over sites to clients, regardless of the builder. Our plans always include maintenance for this reason . . . to keep them out of it. The client who can make home page edits without destroying the site is rare. If we know a client will be editing a site, we have a conversation before we build to determinate exactly what areas they need to edit, and then build those sections using ACF and custom post types so they can simply edit from the back end without getting into the builder. Bricks Builder isn't hard, I'd say it might be easier than Elementor to be honest, even for the customer.
@@WPTotalCraft Thanks for your feedback, I'm going to try it out.
awsome!!!
You’re welcome!
There is zero chance Bricks is going to overtake Elementor anytime soon. It’s a much better builder, sure, but Bricks isn’t marketed towards the average joe type of WP users like Divi and Elementor are. Almost every day I see an advertisement for Divi or Elementor show up on my FB/IG/Reddit feed. Do I see any for bricks? Nope. “Overtaking” isn’t just being a better builder, it’s also mass market appeal. Bricks does not have mass market appeal.
@@RR-ok4wz i think the unfortunate part is that Elementor lures people in with a free builder that is on par with Divi, then it leaves people who start to skill up with a frustrating experience in WordPress when if they would simply begin with Bricks from the start it would be smooth sailing as they skill up. This is why I think Bricks is more beginner friendly than many people think.
@ again, not wrong, but as I mentioned they’re not going to “simply start with bricks” if bricks isn’t even on their radar while Divi and Elementor are.
As a Bricks builder user myself I can assure you guys that it is actually very easy and powerful ....the range pf website that you can deliver with it's help is so wide .....
Note from a long-time Elementor user who is curious about Bricks: In the opening of your video, you say you are going to show that Bricks is not just for "professionals" but also great for "beginners"...but after watching your entire video, I am convinced that Bricks is *not* great or in any way suitable for people just getting started. The video seems to prove the exact opposite of what you thought it would prove. Maybe you should choose some simpler examples that would actually apply to the users you refer to as "beginners."
I’m showing examples of what quickly happens in Elementor where the road blocks cause massive frustration. If you’re building simple 1 to 4 page sites with static content you won’t run into these issues. The minute you try dynamic content in Elementor you’ll run into these scenarios and it will be much more difficult in Elementor than in Bricks. Hope that makes it more clear what I meant.
@@WPTotalCraft Thanks for your response. I'll look around and see if I can find a good tutorial that really is for someone new to Bricks...how to just create a relatively simple website.
@@thepurpleufo for basic website building Bricks works literally the same as Elementor. You make a header and footer template and then edit the page contents. In Bricks instead of Elementor. If you’re doing that in Elementor now you’ll have no trouble at all doing it in Bricks.
Yeah exactly. I don’t think he gets that part - it’s not that easy for beginners. LOL
@@RR-ok4wz I actually disagree. As you skill up in Elementor things get really painful. This doesn’t exist in Bricks and ultimately leaves you with a better experience in WordPress. Simple headers and footers are as simple to build in Bricks as in Elementor. It’s not like you need more skill to do basic things in Bricks. It’s that Bricks lets you go way further once your skills increase.
Thanks for sharing these insights! Regarding ACSS: we were unsure regarding Kevin Gearys's future plans (Etch, the more-than-doubling price update in Q1/2) and decided to switch to Core Framework. Have you evaluated it and, if so, what was your result? Thanks!
So what I did was buy Bricks Builder Ultimate one time, and I am paying for ACSS yearly. This way the underlying builder cost is fixed for me, and I can switch away from ACSS at any time. So far, what ACSS has brought to the table is consistency in design, right out of the box and I have very junior designers on my team outputting stuff that looks like they spent way more attention to details, just because padding and spacing are consistent everywhere. Obviously Kevin is in the market to make money, but he brings a product to the table that has enough value for me to trade money for. His Page Builder 101 course is gold, just in the sense of it being almost the only complete course in WordPress anywhere on the internet that teaches anyone anything, and my staff can now watch it as a resource. I have not used Core Framework at all. From what I have read, it can do everything that ACSS can, but you need to do the building out on it. So I think it's time vs money maybe.
I haven’t actively used Elementor for 2-3 years now, but I find it hard to follow your argument. You’re demonstrating something very advanced from a developer’s perspective, but that’s not how 90% of Elementor users approach their workflow. Most Elementor users rely on the vast ecosystem of plugin providers (there are hundreds available, as you know). They simply search for a plugin, choose one that offers a pre-built timeline (or any other feature), and insert it into their page in just a couple of minutes. From there, they can easily style it directly within the widget-no advanced coding or developer-level expertise required. This kind of ease, flexibility, and broad third-party support is something Bricks Builder cannot currently match and, realistically, is unlikely to achieve in the foreseeable future. Page builders like Breakdance try to work around this limitation by providing pre-made CSS and JS components. However, these components are not the same as widgets, as the level of customization offered by most Elementor widgets is either missing or only available to a very limited extent in these components. As a user, you ultimately have to decide: do you want to accomplish everything via mouse clicks and accept slightly slower loading times, or do you want to learn how to program, which often involves spending hours trying to manually implement the desired functionality? Perhaps it’s time to open our eyes and look at the plain facts. Even in 2024, Elementor has seen massive growth-far exceeding Bricks and all other page builders combined! By now, nearly 17% of all WordPress websites are built using Elementor. (Bricks 0,1%....................) Elementor employees around 375 vs Bricks with around 3.-5 people?
Bricks builder taking the market share but it's not possible to destroy the market Elementor has been built over the years
possibly. I think the main reason though, is that people simply don't know better. I think that tide will turn as roadblocks turn into the frustrations I've felt from using Elementor.
@@WPTotalCraftBricks has a steeper learning curve and I believe that’s also a contributing factor. In my experience most website design projects don’t require the level of detailed customization thats outlined in the video. For example I’ve never experienced the inability to see the preview of a single product design in Elementor. Having said that I can admit that I despise building WooCommerce sites because of the limited customization and functionality but that’s a Wordpress issue.
Your videos are really helpful, keep doing it sir 😊
Thank you!
I love Bricks, but it won't destroy Elementor in 2025, because the free version of Elementor comes packaged with a ton of themes on Themeforest
2025 a not so new builder will come, Builderius.
I haven’t ever used it. I may need to take it for a spin on 2025!
@WPTotalCraft Sure.

How to add a border
Are you wondering how to add a border colour with CSS in Bricks?
This is totally possible but its dev team (Thomas...) must be extremely cautious with their UI/UX choices and the builder rendering engine. Since I'm not a dev I can testify that Bricks Builder is the more beginner friendly "pro" page builder. 2 years ago when I was searching for one to replace Divi I was going crazy with (slowness, lack of query loop...), I tested Oxygen and Bricks Builder. I was totally unable to produce a web page with Oxygen while liking its UI, and by the other side, while Bricks Builder UI was kind "meh" to me I designed a basic page (ID level) with it. So after reflexion I purchased it, but I was unable to design entire projects with it. This is when Breakdance came to the rescue one year latter. But Breakdance with its great UI was kinda worrying me with its "no class" philosophy and by being kind of touchy displaying strange error messages. Then I discovered Kevin's channel, and oh boy, it was a blessing with "class first approach", BEM methodology... It has been a long fight against easiness saying "it was easier with Breakdance". But now after one year of a steep learning curve as a non-dev background, here I am taking pleasure building with Bricks Builder and still learning by moving 2 projects from Breakdance to Bricks. Not that easy on some points but so instructive. My main complain would be what I said at the beginning: UI and rendering engine. the pseudo elements UI is awful, the canvas needs a refresh every 10mn. Everybody is questioning the components UI which by the way is a great feature. So yes, in 2025, Bricks Builder could be The Thing...welcoming disappointed WebFlow and Elementor users...
You sir, have been on a journey. Congratulations!!

You're welcome! My agency has 3 staff at this point, with lots of bandwidth and room to grow.
the difference between Bricks and Elementor gets even more stark when you look at the generated code, and check your design on mobile devices, or more importantly, check the result for accessibility. Elementor can produce decent results, as long as you don't look too closely. The quality of code Elementor puts out is really poor, and falls apart when you consider maintainability or accessibility.
Correct! There is nothing Elementor does that Bricks Builder doesn’t do better.
While I agree with You with the naming of the repeater query changed to nested query by Bricks, I understand this change. In fact after trying for months to get this to work, this detail you mentioned in this video revealed to me what I needed to know and understand. The repeater query NEEDS to be inside of a parent query to work. So after watching many tutos I finally succeed by following yours. Thank You so much !🙏

I really like your presentation style. Thx
I appreciate you coming here to say that a lot of thanks!
I never use the default templates with Elementor apart from visual inspiration in the odd case. I always just build my own and it's not a lengthy process. But Bricks does look amazing and one of these days I feel like I'm going to take the plunge and invest and learn a new platform and keep expanding my css knowledge.
It's gonna change your life. You will be shocked to learn that there is a world where there are templates that are actually usable starting points that save you time. Check specifically into Bricks, AutomaticCSS, and Frames. Because those templates are built using the ACSS CSS framework, which means the template will even inherit your existing site style and colours.
Thanks, it was a good video, hope you get more subscribers but it takes time...
Thanks! Over here grinding away. Definitely hoping to see things pick up yet.
Comparing Bricks and Elementor is like comparing apples and pears. Whereas Elementor is more designed to suit absolute beginners or intermediate, Bricks always started with an approach to also satisfy custom coders and people which are actually the latest modern concepts of web development. Bricks is better in many cases, but it really depends on the user. Without any HTML, CSS and good overall knowledge, I suggest learning the basics and watch some tutorials first, as it can get quite overwhelming. Out of the box, Bricks doesn't require any plugins, but some of them are worth to have a look. I won't mention names here, as you'll find out.
<rant>I agree with your statement for the most part. I am of the opinion though, that Bricks is more beginner friendly than Elementor is because it actually lets you do stuff the proper way with queries and templates that align with core principles. This means that when you ready online about how to do things in native WordPress templates, that you can actually follow those instructions and build them in Bricks Builder the correct way. Typically Elementor almost always completely derails that process with its own workflow that gets in the way, causing a nightmarish amount of road blocks and "I can get 95% of the way I want to build it but this inflexible widget just won't quite do what I need, now I need to go looking for extra plugins which cause bloat, or I need to get custom code to the front end, God forbid, and now I need to register the code in a plugin, and register a short code to embed the shortcode on the front end which turns into a literal shortcode widget that doesn't parse any code and leaves u guessing on how it looks short of running the page in another browser window, and then guess how well it will go to manually style that code output with CSS because there's no CSS framework" I think . . . Elementor has a steeply harder learning curve than Elementor. </rant>
@@WPTotalCraft I agree on what you are saying, I just think or feel that Elementor feels slightly more intuitive, than Bricks. If you start from scratch, I think Bricks isn't harder to learn, and you will learn it the right way from the get-go. Why my go-to page builder is Bricks. It doesn't require numerous plugins to make it work the way you want.

Just curious. How much would you charge for a website this size?
Our agency pricing is currently structured to include hosting / Office365 / tech support / WordPress updates / about 1.5 hours a month of maintenance. We have two price plans. The location is Canada priced in CAD. 4 pages website - simple function only Hosting + 1 O365 Business Standard license 1900 one time + 199 / mo 10 pages - advanced function like custom posts / repeaters Hosting + 2 O365 Business Standard license 2900 + 299 / mo These prices are about to go up significantly, as we build out new plans that include SEO processes as well. It depends on the size of your team if these prices will work or not. We find small business is able to easily afford these prices if they are short staffed or not able to build their own site.
what about Nested Repeaters in Bricks.. how do you show that?
I’m not understanding your question. That is what this video shows. Where you can turn ACF repeater fields into a table with alternating row colours. Did the video make sense for you to follow?
@@WPTotalCraft Everything is fin and make sense. I'm talking about Nested Repeaters = Repeater in a Repeater. you made Work Fields a Repeater and I say what if you made Hours a Repeater as well, don't look for a reason it's example. But let's say did, and you would put a text field inside the Hours a Repeater. How would you show it in Bricks... the Repeater in a Repeater (Hours a Repeater in the Work Fields Repeater)? Hope that makes sense :)
@@EliasRise do you have an example of a website doing this? I'm not quite sure I follow. And I'm not sure that in Advanced Custom Fields that you can make a repeater inside a repeater can you?
Thank you for this video! What others already have mentioned is the editing style. I would advice you to remove your webcam-window out as soon as the explanation starts. Now the video is very 'nervous' because of the jumpcuts and your eyes are more focussed on your notes than on the viewer/webcam. You could introduce yourself and the topic at the start of your video and then go to screencapture only. Also you need some more silence between sentences so that my old brain can process what it heard/read :-) I hope this helps. And thank you for the good content!
Thanks! Appreciate the feedback and glad it helped you out

Good tutorial, needs a little improvement in terms of visibility but over all great :)
Thanks man! Appreciate the comment.
Appreciate the effort but concerning editing, many things you opened up on the left hand side are not visible, and you need to zoom in further to see things clearly enough, Probably don't need to see the author except for the intro and the wrap up, not knocking the info which is appreciated, just the editing, thanks!
hey thanks so much for commenting to let me know this. I'm just getting the hang of my channel yet, and mentioned this to my editor when I uploaded this video. I'm releasing a video next week that shows how to add repeater fields into the mix yet, and I'm hoping to have fixed those issues on the next video
@@WPTotalCraft Ok, subscribed, yeah, there is a whole top part and sides in grey graph area that would have been useful for a closer look and the zoomed in the better for us with not great eyes, ha ha, but looking forward to more vids, will look at your other ones, but good visuals and sound can make or break channels, just my two cents....sound was fine btw...
Yeah, my editor struggled to pull this video together. it's kind of technical and was hard for him to follow along with editting it, so it took longer than expected, just to get the basics down, then it was time to get it posted
