So, what's the rule behind metal detecting in these ghost towns. Especially the ones on BLM land or other properties such as forest and state owned land? Is one allowed to keep the item he found or is it supposed to returned to the spot it was found on? Does anyone know? Im afraid to take my metal detector to places I cam with fear of being arrested

Lots of great finds on this one!! I sure have to try out a ghost town some day. There are a few around here but most I have found are considered ghost towns but still have people living in them.

Nice relic hunt! I think your watch fob is commemorating a bicycle race in Cincinnati. Google League of American Wheelman. I couldn't find a similar fob, but saw the wing and wheel image. Congrats!

Have you ever found coins in really good condition? Silver dollars? Gold coins? I bought a metal detector to mess around with in retirement but haven't used it yet. It would just to be something to putter around with, but it'd also be fun to find some cool stuff.

A metal detector is limited to several feet of detecting for metal elements. The modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod will detect metal elements or other sought elements that are buried hundreds and thousands of feet deep. In the 1970's my father and I reverse engineered the physics involved in dowsing, which are the same physics that energizes the alarm on electronic metal detectors. Then we invented the modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod for using physics in dowsing to locate our old core-drill on the exact center of gold and silver veins that are buried under 200 feet of glacier rock and till, which worked out perfectly for us. I wrote the book to teach the world how to apply physics in dowsing for sought elements. My book: The Art of Dowsing - Separating Science from Superstition ($14.95), by Michael Fercik, explains all the physics involved in dowsing and teaches how to build the modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod, which is the only dowsing rod that accurately gauges the element that is being dowsed by pitting the energy of gravity against the energizing of the pure one-tenth ounce dowsing rod load that is tapped onto the ELEVATED acetylene dowsing rod at five-inches from the hub's shaft, which is free spinning on ball bearings. This precisely gauges the dowsing of all edges, exact center, depth buried with angle of deposition, and most important is grading or deciphering the amount of the dowsed element that is contained in the elemental mass that is being dowsed. Anybody can become a professional dowser by practicing and mastering the dowsing lessons taught in my book. I hope dowsing enriches your life intellectually and financially.

I believe my last Silver 1800s Coin I found was in March. The two Tokens you found love them. The 2 1/2 Cent one. Is that one from Utah. Very cool. I've found a few of the 5 Cent Tokens before. On the back side like yours blank and a couple of mine have numbers on them. I've found a few that say Good for 5 Cents in Trade and Good for a Pack of Mints. I'm still looking for one Good for a Cigar. The Watch Fob you found right on. Love the advertisement on it. Thw Pocket Watch piece is awesome also. What did the back on it say?
