He was only about 30 years old here Kelly resembles her dad a lot during this era
Still have the LP records of this one
Rex Nelon without the white hair but the same great voice
What a beautiful rendition! Thanks for sharing your beautiful talent!
Great harmony with Uncle Alph, Pierce and Jimmy Jones. They were great.
A wonderful version of the LeFevres. Urias, Eva Mae, Uncle Alph, Pierce, Mylon and Rex. A tight sound with excellent musicianship.
The guys could really sing!
Love it!
Eva Mae was always a class individual. So very talented. Lovely and beautiful inside and out.
Urias LeFevre was a fine individual and astute businessman. He always had some of the finest talent in their group. And it was anchored by his loving wife, Eva Mae.
WONDERFUL!!!
The LeFevres were pure class.
amen
Phil Hendrie brought me here! Glad I clicked the link! This does kick ass!!
Could you please upload the full video
Eva Mae, often copied but never duplicated. She was a human metronome.
Dag therr word for word singing the harmonizing fours material lol
Good stuff. So many great memories of so many great times...and Heaven still to come! Thank you, Jesus, for saving me!!!
Wonderful "talent here....2021

My favorite bass singer
What makes this music so unique is it's not done anymore. Another time, another culture. Thank God for recordings to preserve it.
that was before his voice changed when he was a tenor
He never was a tenor. Maybe bass-baritone.
Not a tenor at all . The highest he could go was bass baritone
Love it!💖👏🏻

Goodbye world goodbye
Love love love this song, haven't heard it in many years. young people of today need more beautiful country songs such as this. Thank you for posting it, I never dreamed I would someday find it again!
In my humble opinion, no one could sing this like Rex Nelon. I had the privilege of singing lead with Uncle Alf and the LeFevres and the love and respect the LeFevres and Nelons had for each other was so endearing. Rex's son Todd also sang and played bass with Uncle Alf's group and Rex was also instrumental in getting Karen Peck into Uncle Alf's group. However after all these years I was so blessed to see Kelly Nelon Clark send a special video filled with so much love and emotion to Uncle Alf's wife Ellie at her birthday party last year. Serving Christ, and real love. That is why the message that the LeFevres and Nelons sing about will never die

For my ears, Rex Nelon was a much better singer than J.D. Sumner. Beautiful line, diction etc. He didn t grawl low notes...
He actually had a good voice - not just the ability to hit low notes.
The Quartet Singer he did just not at that time bc he was younger and as you age your voice gets lower and he was able to hit down to about a G1 or an F1
@@BecauseHeLives39 He went to double low F a couple of times when was grey haired
Those were D2s he's a great bass but he's not in the same league as J.D. And London Parris makes Just about every other bass aside from J.D. sound like an amateur.
But Rex is all round
@@kasiryeleno2456 Rex as smooth as he was couldn't hit a double low C on a piano if you pointed at it. He's not the greatest of all time, he'd need to be much lower to be in that discussion. Rex was tremendous at what he did but he isn't the greatest.
@@kasiryeleno2456 Also just to clarify I love Rex,I have quite a few of his records and love his voice maybe it's all the attacks on J.D.,Dan Britton and Mike Holcomb for being lower than any other active singer that makes me more defensive than I should be. I'd say he was better than Brock Speer but not quite as good as Erine Ford,he is one of the all time greats. I wasn't trying to insult him.
The more I listen to this.....he does sound a little like a Johnny Cash!!
And Brock Speer too
Couldn't agree more!!! Rex HAS to be the most underrated bass singer!! He is so in-tune and smooth even wah back then!! Love him!!! And EnchiladaMan360, I watched that same video and Rex did nail some AWESOME F1'S!!!!!!!
I couldn't agree more! Rex didn't overdo those slides at the end of songs like J.D. did, but whenever he did one, it was always better than J.D.'s. Rex did, however, hit two buttery smooth F1's during the song "It's Alright" with Candy Hemphill Christmas.
I wonder if the drummer was at the wrong gig, and Steve Moore was supposed to play for them.
I believe that's Mylon.
Jim Ashley how old is mylon? Surely 60’s would be too long for him?
@@aidans5052 September 8, 2023. 78 yrs. He soundly beat expectations.
Rex was such a smooth, quality bass. Never tried to force out the low-low notes to where he was unable to be understood. Great overall singer and one of the most underrated bass singers in Gospel Music history
I had 4 favorite bass singers growing up and they were: Rex Nelon George Younce Brock Speer and Ray Dean Reese
Whew praise the Lord!
My Favorite... Well Done My Child....
Wish I had a brother...
Nice to see the drummer could make it to the gig at 0:11.
Musicians never change!
Just found out that was a young Mylon LeFevre
After going to a concert featuring the LeFeveres way back in the '50's I remember my grandfather saying that Eva Mae was the prettiest woman he had ever seen. Of course he liked her singing and playing too. All our old 78 rpm gospel music records were lost in moving so I really appreciate these recordings on UA-cam.
Rex wrote the song too.
what video is this from?
@ModGirl1967 Quite literally - lol... Thanks!
Wow.. How about that Eva Mae burnin up the keys! There was a time, especially in the southern states, when you could not advance your radio dial more than three stations at a time without hearing something that sounded just like this. Gospel on tap, just about 24/7. Sure do miss those days.
