Another great year of commentary, Bill Priest! My hubby, Carlton Surtman, enjoyed the parade a lot. He attended Kunkle Elementary, 1953-54. His father found work as a cement finisher on the turnpike in the area. During that school year he lived with his parents on a farm about 2 miles south. Exchanging chores for rent in a house with no plumbing and a oil burner for heat. A good year for him. He got a nickel for each rat/mouse caught in mouse traps, learned to drive a tractor and car, and more. The owner/farmer Otis Redding (sp?) was good to him, as was his wife Ruby (I think that was her name). The next year Carlton and his parents moved to Montpelier. Carlton graduated from Montpelier HS in 1960, then the family moved back to Toledo. We'll be back in the area for Montpelier Bean Days & a planning session for a high school reunion.

Crosley was an innovator, one thing I remember that became a standard is shelves in a refrigerator door. It was called the Shelvador. When I was a small child my Dad almost bought a 1954 station wagon. He did use Crosley parts, engines and transmissions, in some of his projects. He built an arc welder with a DC3 generator and a Crosley engine. I would love to visit the auto show someday.

Silkworm was his the best work. It still rocks 30 years later. I'm surprised no one remembers the soundtrack.

Back in 1950s dad hauled 8 people to work in a snowstorm. The light weight relative to tire patch meant other larger larger cars got stuck so he picked them up on the way.

I have a 1946 crosley for sale

A very good friend of mine here in east Texas has 4 Crosleys. They all need to be restored. He said in 1956 they drove the station wagon. They moved about 20 miles and drove it full of "stuff" in the move. I think they are very neat looking cars but not really made for large men. He told me a lot of the cars were made into golf carts. He said the country club finally banned them from the golf course. I told him if folks knew he had these they would want to get them to rebuild. He is working on a 49 jd tractor right now.

His soundtrack on San Francisco Rush 2049 still remains one of my all time favorite game soundtracks of all time. It's the reason I got into EDM, I needed more things like that soundtrack lol
