Masso + Prolight - The History and Specifications
In this video, we review the history of Light Machines, Intellitek, and the Prolight 1000. Next is why we like these old machines: they compare favorably with the Tormach 440. The Prolight 1000 was designed in 1987 by a couple of consultants and was sold heavily to schools for training. Most of these machines saw little use so by acquiring one you are not buying worn-out stock.

In this video, we take a Light Machines (Intellitek) Prolight 1000 CNC mill and refurbish it with the Masso G-3Touch controller. In this video, we share with you the project that we took on, a few details about the Prolight 1000, and the product we ended up with. In the companion videos, we deal with the mundane details of wiring, gutting the control box, programming the Masso, and the history ...

One Day Ambulance Conversion to a 4x4 All Season Camper
Переглядів 15 тис.2 роки тому
@1:00 - TOUR @12:00 - THE BUILD The goal of this video is to demonstrate a comfortable and simple conversion to a camper with tremendous residual value as a hauler or a work truck. With a few weeks of planning at the EdWorks Shop, we take a 2002 Horton Ambulance and convert it to a camper in one day. The steps are straightforward and simple. I feel that most would feel this conversion is within...

    You can do a search on Ebay for the "Servo 7000 Drill" and you will get a list of currently available inventory. You also may look at the Proxxon precision drill press. Home Depot has a nice unit for $100.

      Search eBay for inventory using "Servo 7000" as your search term. Prices vary from $350 to $2000 based on quality and features. The cheaper models do not have a dial indicator. The most expensive model does not have a chuck, but rather uses collets. Some have a light. Some have a locking quill. Furthermore the bases vary widely. You may wish to consider a Grizzly T32006 - Variable-Speed Mini Benchtop Drill Press for $81 or a Proxxon Bench Drill Press TBM 115 at $235 if price is an issue.

    Finally, a single person's build! (olde farte confirmed bachelor here) How quiet are the alum. cabinets out on the dirt or gravel roads? I think I'd have hung a mini-split condenser off one of the back doors after filling the roof with solar panels. And I'd build some nice mag. window inserts to keep the heat/chill out and give privacy. All the bulbs would be replaced with LED plug-ins. What sort of engine and mileage do you have/get? And, of course, you have all that external storage for everything else you want or need. Ambulances are excellent camper vehicles.

    • @edworks7718
      @edworks7718 Рік тому

      Thanks for the questions. An ambulance makes less noise than a regular camper but it is not quiet. Mileage is 11MPG for gas and 13MPG for diesel. I have owned both.

    A big reason I bought an ambulance was that the interior is of high quality and 90% done already. I cringe when i see people tearing the inside out.

      It reminds me of someone buying a 10-year-old house and tearing it down to build their dream home. Although the result can be spectacular, I find it difficult to watch the demolition. If I could only do one thing and one thing only to an ambulance, it would be stand-up headroom. If you can stand in an ambulance, you are far ahead of the game.

    Model engineering is a fascinating craft. Creating miniature scaled replicas of full sized machines, and it combines all things I like. Awesome video! They only think that the Tormach wins in is the spindle speed. If there was a way to increase spindle speed to match at 10k rpm, I’d side with the Prolight 1000 any day.

    • @edworks7718
      @edworks7718 Рік тому

      Thanks Juan The Tormach should always win. We are sneaking in the back door with a used 36-year-old machine and comparing it to a $7000 2023 machine. While it compares favorably, it is clearly second place. We have a saying around here for a project like this. It goes: "You can't make a racehorse out of a pig, but you can make a pretty fast pig." The Prolight is the fast pig. For travel speeds the Prolight 1000 by Light Machines was 50ipm. The Super Prolight 1000 by Intellitek was 75ipm. I don't have data on the Benchman but I think it was in the range of the Tormach while some Benchmans have servo motors making them faster than the Tormach. Regards, Bob

    The walkthrough was informative and nice to see. I like ambulances. I appreciated you pointing out what was what. Each ambo is different. The music though really ruined the experience. The audio was very fuzzy on your voice, and the music drowned it out. My ears are hurting needlessly which makes me angry. DO NOT ADD MUSIC TO ANY DIY, DEMO, TOUR, COOKING, OR WILDLIFE VIDEO. GOLDEN RULE OF FILM MAKING. DO NOT ADD MUSIC. IT PLEASES NO ONE & IRRITATES EVERYONE. 8,700 people saw this video. Ambulance builds are very popular, yet you only got 215 Likes. Does that tell you something? Turn off the music even if you wrote it, played it, and like it. Its awful. Save it for your man cave and beer buddies. Do a proper build of your ambulance instead of these temporary workarounds. Make it nice. Why buy such a cheap toilet when you can get a Porta Potty for $100 that does not smell and can handle liquids. This is a very clumsy DIY build. It is functionally limited and not well thought out. Do your homework and make it more livable and functional. No stove, no fridge, no bathroom with shower, mattress very narrow, no sink, no power. That pokey little inverter is a joke. Get a real one. There are two things that turn a van into a home: Power, and a Bed. Neither are adequate to sustain you for even a week.

      I have plenty of room for improvement. UA-cam tells me 65% of viewers are still watching at around the 0:30 mark, which is above typical. I also know that 30% of viewers are still watching at the 17-minute mark which is above average. Like you, people that watch these ambulance videos like to watch anything they can get their hands on. I would direct you to the professionals at Tiny Home Tours who create excellent productions more suited to your more critical eye.

I have plastic bags for poop, the lugabaloo is fine, kitty litter for kindness, matches for air quality, jug for urine , baby wipes for stuffs, two 5 gallon water jugs, and a ton of pillows and comforters under the crew bench. I wanted something that could carry a lot of tools while allowing me to travel long distances with a sleeper and a kitchen. I am particularly interested in doing this year-round in northern climates.
