I grew up with a family who taught me a lot about tools and how to fix things around the house. I recognize that not everyone is so fortunate. Even with the knowledge I have, maintaining a home can be hard and I still run into things that I don't know how to do but I like to do the research and learn as I go. Unplanned repairs can be tough on the budget if you constantly have to call in a professional so let me show you some of my DIY projects and repairs in hopes that it makes your life easier and maybe saves you some time and money. I hope you find my content useful and enjoyable as I strive to get a little bit better every day. Welcome to Jay's Place. Thanks for stopping by.

Sunneday Retractable Hose Reel Installation and Review
I've done everything and my detector is still good for another few years and I still hear chirping!
Good lord, thank you so much. It worked. The darn thing burst my eardrums
Better not put fasteners on exterior wall, it make water infiltration points, even behind the vinyl in this case
where's the video?
I can not wait to leave this godforsaken city. I hope I'm not bothered like I am in this trash city...
Does this electric from the originate from another outlet or is it a straight run to a 20 amp circuit in your electric panel. I’m pretty sure it should be straight run right?
Yes, this was a run for my range hood.
I was dreaming about being stuck in an island full of hot chicks and this happened 😓
Genius 🤯
does anyone know what is the socket size? Couldn’t find a match
I got so may acorns in my mulch beds...I'm just about to throw all of it away and start over 😢😢
Why is this happening to me on Thanksgiving day in the early a.m. hours??? 😵💫
I blame Murphy and his law! 😂 Happy Thanksgiving anyway
Does work with large acorns. If you have the small ones not so much.
I'm going to try this myself after a while, wondering, since my grass isn't the same as yours, but if it works I'll find an award to send you lol bc I have been brainstorming and trying to figure out a different way that won't cost me $50 or more!
As I mentioned, it’s not perfect, but it was way easier than actually raking.
Didn’t work it beeped while I was holding down, and I swear it was beeping faster
How old is it? Could be time to replace
Good job. I've done it before, but it was a long time ago and I needed a refresher course. You were very helpful.
Thanks
Thank you so much it worked!
Interesting. Very interesting. It's too bad that I didn't watch this before spending 2 hours raking my front yard today. An hour of that was mostly leaves, though. I'm sore.
Give it a shot next year. It’s not perfect but it cleared the acorns.
Thanks, RakeMAN!!!!
While replacing do I need to shutoff the water taps somewhere?
I like to play it safe when it comes to water and shut off the supply but technically, this can be done with just the spigot turned off.
Posted by Will Rockwell, I found this to be a most remarkable solution. ua-cam.com/video/3-2j09txDd8/v-deo.html It isn't the most ecomical so;ution, though, as brand new these harvesters retail between $300-$700.
I did that didn’t even hook it up . The other part still beeping
THANK GOD I FOUND YOUR VIDEO! This is a lifesaver
Thanks I tried this works well when they’re raked up first still a pain to deal with them haha
I think I need to design some sort of rake attachment that puts sides on the rake and makes it like a shovel once the back of the rake pops them out of the grass.
@@JaysPlace2468 would love to see an idea like this could be 3D printed, or perhaps just need a mesh with some kind of extended border that once the acorns may go towards the top of the rake, they fall into the mes
WOW!!!!!!!!
Thanks for this. It reminds me when I was just 5 yrs old and woke up to “CHIRP warning low battery” at like 12AM and I cried silently and was like what the heck was that?! I heard my dad get the ladder and take it out but I wasn’t excepting it. I fell asleep and woke up at 6AM I opened my door and looked up and see the WIRES and I screamed and slammed my door then my dad came in my room cus he was leaving for work and he said “it’s okay I’m going to get a new one today” and he did ever since then everything has been well :)
Thanks for sharing this story
What about the vents for the fan?
This microwave is optional to vent outside. It can also just run the fans to recirculate interior air.
@@JaysPlace2468 so, do you feel the exhaust air blowing from the top-front only?
Where's the video to cutting out the hole for the sink?
I had some issues with the raw footage and lost parts of the process. I haven’t really determined if I can find a way to salvage what I have and make it worth the viewer’s time.
It looks like one of these robot vacuums.
😂it kind of does
Do I have oak tress in my yard ? Noooo. Will I ever need to clean acorns from my lawn ? Nooo. Did I watch the whole video? YESSSS.
Well that’s what I love to hear! Thanks so much for watching. Hopefully one of my other videos might be something that applies and helps you out.
Your a genius bro lol I've always used 2 of these rakes as an extension of my hands to pick up huge piles at one time and it's effective but we get a ton of squirrel snacks as well and I'm trying this next time they pile up!! Get them outta here, What the squirrels don't take that is!! Lol sweet video thanks for the content!!
Thanks, I’m an accidental genius. I literally discovered this while taking a break and leaning on my rake and it slipped into some acorns and pulled them up. 😂 I knew I had to share!
Nice Detail technique regarding the adjusting the new sweep for gaps. Thanks for the video, I'll look to handle this Honey-Do this weekend.
Thanks for watching. Good luck! 🍀
Going to have to give this a try. Thanks, I get tons of acorns myself.
I accidentally discovered it while taking a break and leaning on the rake and knew I had to share 😂
@@JaysPlace2468 glad you did
@@JaysPlace2468 glad you did!!
Thank you. I never messed with this kind of a faucet before and I thought I was going to have to replace the whole guts of this thing under the mobile home.
You’re welcome. Hope my video made things a little bit easier for you.
I think the location you chose couldn't be more ridiculous
The first position or the second? You’re absolutely correct about the first. Should have just listened to my wife 😂
@@JaysPlace2468 first lol
I like the incorporation of the dream that guy said hey, do you want to hear the most annoying sound in the world, before the smoke detector chirped
Nothing more annoying than a smoke detector chirping. That was my creative side trying to come through.
@@JaysPlace2468 oh
I’ve been using my for about 3 months now, several times a week. Only once has it retracted without me having to pull it out again and again. Sometimes it never fully retracts. I am disappointed in this hose. I reached out to company twice, their response “pull it out some more, give it time the first few times it will do that” I bought this one because of this video, what was said, access to the top, access to the hose and length and diameter of hose. I would like two more but I rethinking. It’s almost as if there is too much hose for the housing. I bought hose in summer 2023 didn’t install until spring 2024. Anyone else having problems with the retracting feature?
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I only had a problem with this reel one time and I found that I was able to basically reset it by pulling it all the way out and slowly walking it all the way back in, I’ve had no issues since. It’s truly been a great hose reel for me now a couple years later.
You saved me some money
Thanks for watching!
what a clumsy way to set up the fence. Come one, man. Trust your measurements.
I’m not a pro and the cut came out just how I wanted it. I’m glad I took my time and made small adjustments.
You're awesome! You just saved us a huge plumber's bill. I ran to Ace and grabbed this specific part tonight and fixed our faucet in under 5 minutes. The only difference from your video is that our cap didn't pop off. It was stuck good and I had to work on it to get it loosened up and then it screwed off. Thanks so much for posting this little gem!!
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching!
do you have to turn the water supply off first ?
Technically, you should be ok as long as the spigot is turned off but I don’t love taking chances with water. Better safe than sorry.
Mine doesn't have a test button. It's old.
Might be time to change it then.
Do you have to turn the water to the house off before replacing the vacuum breaker?
Technically, no. Just have the faucet off but it doesn’t hurt to shut it off to be safe. Water accidents are not fun. 💦
Manufacturers only put an expiry date on those so they can sell more.
Carbon Monoxide detectors utilize an electrochemical detection mechanism to detect Carbon Monoxide. As the chemicals degrade over time, it will eventually fall below the effiency required to be an effective detector. When that happens, the detector will go into a fault mode (causing the chirping) letting you know that it needs to be replaced. If you don't want to have expiring detectors, a straight smoke detector. Smoke detectors usually use either Infrared light detectors or by testing the ionization level and trigger if it falls below a certain level. These are both electronic in nature and don't have a chemical component that will run out.... thus the longer life span. Just be aware that smoke detectors can't detect harmful levels of Carbon Monoxide.
Thanks for adding to the conversation and providing more detail.
Them ceiling birds
Haha 😂
This video is for black people.
Indeed
Hey nice install. I can see this was over a year ago now and I was wondering how this is doing? Have you ran into any problems? I was advised not to use the range hood hookup to power a microwave because like many homes it was mainly intended for lighting only. It looks like your setup may be that way too?
I haven’t had any issues. A lot of places do require a dedicated circuit for a microwave.
Since introducing them, more people ae dying in fires because people remove them now due to their sensitivity. They were designed to save lives, but just don't
Thank you so much ! The dog smell and probably mouse urine or even a dead mouse is a odor problem for sure... I'm a derector of a hunting dog club and forgot a dead bird in my hunting veste for 5 sunny hot days... I am trying the ARM & HAMMER solution as I texte you and going to try to find the other stuff you tried !!! Merci encore !!
Best of luck to you. Those sound like some intense scents! You may want to leave the baking soda a little longer or maybe a second application a day later.
Well I already shampoo and cleaned the truck, but I still get a little bit of that death sent in the morning when I get in the truck… I cleaned my hunting veste twice in the washing machine and it’s ok and the bird was inside of that… so I’ll keep you posted…
@@frenchyqbec Any update?
@@frenchyqbec I am currently using the ozone generator first
@@Kenndy16changed the air filter, let the windows open on sunny days and went to a hands on car wash , they cleaned it and it seem to have done a good job !
This brand of valves are junk. All plastic crap.. I have replaced 2 in less than 10 years. I got an all metal replacement
They don’t make em like they used to. That’s for sure!
You could have bought a whole new spigot for about 10 dollars
I’d love to know where you’re finding those prices. Everything around me was $40-$75. Regardless of price, this was much easier because the spigot leads to a finished basement ceiling with no access so it would have been a chore to replace. Thanks for watching and chiming in and seriously, let me know where you’re finding it for $10 now a days.
@@JaysPlace2468 sure...I just replaced mine for 10.00 at home depot. Yes, it was one of the cheaper ones but it works just fine, no leaks
