Wales - Snowdonia - The Central Carneddau and Dulyn Bothy
Переглядів 171Рік тому
This video illustrates a two-day expedition made in February 2023. Look at the blue skies! Who says winter in the UK is miserable! The northern slopes of the central Carneddau are in complete contrast to the more frequented southern routes. Smooth grassy slopes sweep down towards the sea and much of it is wild and deserted. On a clear day the views are stunning. Our route began in the car park ...

The Waterfalls of Aira Force

Why not relax to the sound of the waterfalls in this high quality video. Probably the most well known of the Lake District waterfalls, Aira Force provides us with a great example of what was designed as a landscaped Victorian park which includes not one, but a series of dramatic waterfalls, ancient trees and rocky scenery which is fairly easily accessible to most, and without having to climb to...

    Nice route Andy, thanks for sharing. I am interested in your review of the Nordisk - is this the Halland 2 lw version? The conditions looked challenging wind / rain, the shelter appears to stand the test. Plus, is the footprint worth the extra weight? Thanks.

    • @Fellmandave1
      @Fellmandave1 4 роки тому

      Same question from me!

    • @one-spark
      @one-spark 4 роки тому

      Sorry Guys, I missed your questions. I only just bought the tent prior to this trip and yes it’s the lw version. I can only say it is quality from the moment you open the bag. You’re right, this trip was pretty severe wind and rain wise and it stood up to it perfectly. The two main selling points for me was it’s weight - tent, poles, pegs weigh in at 1564g and if you buy the footprint which is extra but well worthwhile, that’s an extra 641g if you add pegs in. Also I wanted a tent where I could put the fly up first in the rain and then the inner tent undercover of the fly. This worked perfectly when I had to pack up and it was pouring down. I put my stuff in the ‘vestibule’ and I clipped the inner tent which I packed away before taking the fly down and rolling up the footprint. I obviously need to try it in snow next but I have every confidence it’s going to be fine. Certainly the best tent I’ve bought. Hope that helps.

    Lovely video Andy, especial like the background sound you had for the video, did you record that? I've been out a couple of times this spring and with there being less back ground noise thought 'I really need to record this' no idea what gear to start with though.

    • @one-spark
      @one-spark 4 роки тому

      Thanks Trev. IPhone is perfect. Just don’t hold it because the mic will pick up every movement you make. I just place it on a firm surface and sit still while it does it’s thing. You don’t need much as you can lay sound clips end to end or even overlay them on your video. You’ll hear the buzzards on here towards the end which was a separate clip I recorded and overlaid. As you say you do get other noises creeping in which you may need to cut out to maintain the tranquility! That’s editing for you!
