Bought my house last year in Sweden. Not a massive price reduction from the tops in 2020-2022, some 5-10%. The biggest upside was the ability pick and choose my house at my own pace since the selling process is so much slower now. Not having to engage in the buying frenzy where you barely had time to inspect the house before someone had bid +30% above starting price.

I’ve been wanting to buy for 4 years now. I’m not impulsive and I’m very frugal, so this current housing market of paying above asking price and making split second decisions, goes against my very nature. Due to the low inventory, I refuse to settle for whatever’s available. Not worth living in something I don’t like or can’t really afford just so I can say that I’m a “homeowner”.
