Interesting, and well-done video. Narration was a bit monotone, sounds like you're rushing. The pronunciations of the Inuit names were acceptable, though if you do the research, you might find a phonetic pronunciation code online somewhere (I understand CBC announcers have one). I learned something I didn't know before so, well done.

You have an instinct for doing videos about all my favourite Canadian geographical oddities. The Belcher Islands count among them. I always thought of them as a fingerprint, rather than spaghetti. Many thanks for the details about the old cult murders. I had heard a few vague things about it from Cree elders, but never come across that book ---- which I will now try to obtain. Few people realize that the islands in Hudson's Bay and, yes, James Bay belong to Nunavut. Akimiski Island, a large uninhabited island in James Bay is part of Nunavut. The southernmost point of Nunavut is Stag Island, in the mouth of the Nottaway River of western Quebec, located at 51°39′01″N 79°04′28″W ---- further south than Saskatoon!

I always thought the Belchers were barren and uninhabited by humans or animals! It turns out people have been there for most of the last 2500 years. Thanks for showing us what they actually look like. I wonder if anyone has walked the spaghetti shape of the islands from one end to the other. Those tragic religious murders underline what Robert Service said: "The Arctic trails have their secret tales that would make your blood run cold".

I lived in Sanikiluaq in the late 90's while working with the NorthWest Company. We lost our power generation station, and the military had to fly in a new one in, and land a CF130 on the shory dirt runway.

I'm particularly interested in some of the islands near Churchill, Manitoba. I'm planning a trip there, and thought if I could pop out to one of those islands I could also say I've been to Nunuvut 😅 Hudson bay islands being a part of Nunuvut could maybe be an interesting video topic? 🤔

There are a couple of seasonal locations there. Besides Houghton which was mentioned in the video, Gascoyne Inlet has a research facility. I've actually been there.

Not quite as long or remote as these but Manitoba 280 is quite the rough northern road connecting Thompson to Gillam and Fox Lake Cree Nation. The road ends not long after the reserve and the only way to go north to Churchill is by train or plane. The 280 is rough and so are the tracks up to Churchill!

Good job. I remember the crashed DC3 near the abandoned Isachsen Weather Station on Ellef Ringnes Island. The Ringnes brothers Ellef and Amaud were Norwegian brewers that helped sponsor Sverdrup's expecition in 1898, so they got both their names on islands. The company still exists today. The only pic that is a bit weird is the photo of Copper Inuit from around Coronation Gulf way south of these islands. A photo of North Baffin Inuit would have been more appropriate in this case.

The 40 million year old 'Fossil Forest' is actually freeze dried. Metasequoia, chinese water chestnut, tamarack, sycamore, spruce and pine, parts of over 1000 stumps exposed. Tree rings show they were already at that latitude growing only in warm half of the year in a climate similar to the Carolinas in the US.

I have been to Axel Heiberg Island. Had the opportunity to visit an ancient campsite from people that predated even the Inuit.
