Flippin' Fun: How to get back in a bow-rigged 1x scull
Getting back in a bow-rigged scull can be a little harder than the traditional stern-rigged boat. But, it turns out, the rigger (which at first seems in the way) is actually very useful in helping you leverage yourself up and on the boat. I learned the hard way, btw.

So, what this also needs is a good upper body strength, I guess. Time to go the gym.
Nice!!!!
Very helpful video even though the audio did not work for me. The captions were key, especially to push your feet against the rigger. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing! I have read about getting back into a bow-rigged scull, but nobody else had pointed out using the rigger as leverage. Very clever foot action. Now I'm anxious to practice it (instead of fearing the flip).
CindleT You're welcome! I learned the hard way (flipped for the first time in the cold of February and couldn't get back in!). Surprised me as I'd had no problem before in stern-rigged boat. But then found myself caught in between the oars and rigger with no where to rotate my body, straddle and sit up. Luckily, my coach was there and I climbed onto the launch. In retrospect, the incident haunted me so decided to practice and master. I can get back in under 30 seconds now. I haven't flipped again but feel ready!
