Faux Wood Technique To Change Stain Color
These nightstands were not solid wood, so I wasn't able to sand them down to change the stain color. I wanted a richer, darker stain color, and by using this technique I was able to achieve just that! Finish them off with a clear coat poly to increase durability.

I like how step 2 is sanding
@@bryght_ hey! As stated I put “sanding to raw wood”, which would take hours and actually wasn’t even possible with this set because they aren’t real wood. It sure if you’re familiar with scuff sanding. It’s very light and easy, much like scrubbing it clean. It’s done to help rough up the surface a bit for the paint to have something to adhere to better. Scuff sanding and sanding a piece to raw wood are two very completely different things.

Legs are great shape, need to be 90 degree angle to the piece. Take out the inner panels and you're there. Good work, regardless of my opinion.

I’d liked it the way it was, I just would’ve cleaned it up. Maybe do a few repairs. Definitely kept it stain.
@@mariawiggins3819 it was in pretty rough shape, had to fill several areas where the veneer was completely ripped off. Also it was painted prior with a faux wood technique on top of the veneer.

It’s destroyed now , it looks like every other typical flip . The doll house idea would have been cute. Cleaned up kept in its original state except put some room type dividers and made the inside a doll house. It’s the perfect height and size. Maybe windows on the doors . Now it’s just extremely ordinary and overdone.

I wouldn't use it, the legs are too contrasting,, the inside of it is too dark, maybe you should pain the inside a lighter color? Put the doors back on? It doesn't look like it's done.
I would use it as a dollhouse.

Sometimes the piece is made of composite wood and/or plastic photographic wood grain. Painting is the way to deal with this, otherwise the piece becomes a mess. At least to me, and I've been refinishing furniture for decades.
