13 Have You Not Read God Made Them Male and Female?
Jesus was very clear on what constitutes adultery. This may be one of His most unpopular teachings because people are convinced that "God just wants them to be happy." Listen for the ramifications of this teaching in Matthew 19.

12 Will There Be a Resurrection?
Переглядів 3621 годину тому
In the last week of His life, Jesus was given a strong hypothetical question about seven brothers and one wife. This was meant to trip Him up about the resurrection. His answer, revealed by necessary implication, was that the resurrection is real! Are you ready? #jesus #resurrection #newtestament #gospel

Thank you brother Kyle for beautiful lesson.

Please help me understand why this breaking of bread here means the Lords supper but in other parts of acts breaking of bread is just eating food. I don’t see anything in this context that definitively says this is talking about the lords supper. This is VERY important because the divide this creates between other Christian’s is huge. I have a group of church of Christ brethren that think a group of Baptist brethren are essentially evil because they don’t interpret this as the lord supper. We are quite literally separating and dividing the body of Christ on something that doesn’t seem to be definitive here.
That's a great question, and I'll do what I can to provide an appropriate answer. Jesus, in Matthew 26:26, blessed the bread and broke it when He instituted His supper that all Christians would commemorate. In 1 Corinthians 10:16, Paul spoke of "the bread which we brake," further securing the designation "breaking of bread" to the Lord's Supper. The only true way that I know of to ascertain the truth is to look at context. In Acts 2:42, the "breaking of bread" is listed with other acts of worship, indicating that it refers to the Lord's Supper. Four verses later (Acts 2:46), "breaking bread" is connected with eating food, showing it to be a common meal. Something similar occurs in Acts 20:7 where the disciples assembled to "break bread," a reference to observing the Lord's Supper as a corporate body. Later in v. 11, Paul took a refreshment after the notable miracle of raising Eutychus. This "breaking bread" is spoken of Paul only, evidently distinguishing this from the celebration of the Lord’s Supper in the previous verse. I hope this helps you. Thanks for your interest and the kind spirit you showed in your comment.
@ I appreciate your reply more than you know! I really love my Church of Christ congregation but grew up in a different domination and have such a strong desire to try to unite our other brothers and sisters. I am going to add your comment in my notes and study more.

Are there things in the Old Testament permitted by god that he would no longer permit today?
Polygamy is one such act God didn't' speak again in the Old Testament that He does in the New Testament.
Using the Bible as a guide for morality is unwise. We could write a book with better morals before the sun comes up. It's kind of why we are a secular nation in the United States and why our lawmakers don't source the Bible for making laws. When are we going to outgrow this nonsense. Your God doesn't assist anybody with morality and your Bible wasn't written by this deity.
Why do you say it's "unwise" and "nonsense"? How do you support the statement, "God doesn't assist anybody with morality and your Bible wasn't written by this deity"?
God of the Bible promotes a lot of killing suffering and slaughtering innocent kids though lol
In what way do you mean?
Has your God ever demanded human sacrifice be carried out in his name in order to appease his will?
No sir. In the Bible when that was done, God condemned it.
@loop287churchofchrist So God never told Abraham "you better kill me a son"?
Honestly, I had forgotten about that in my rush to respond. Yes, God asked Abraham to offer his son. It tested his faith. However, God used His angel to stop Abraham from completing the task. So yes, He did ask it, but God didn't intend for Abraham to complete the killing of his son.
@@loop287churchofchrist That's how I remember to tale going... & for the sake of "The test of faith" God had commaned Abraham to make a human sacrifice of his son to appease his will...Any God asking this, even once, is not a God worth following.
"Any God asking this, even once, is not a God worth following." Fair enough in your mind. No one can nor will make you believe and accept it. There are people who see deeper spiritual significance in the event which puts it in a different space than skeptics understand it to be.
Thank you very much brother Jim for this very interesting and beautiful lesson!.. 1 always injoy watching
My pleasure!
Thank you brother for the encouraging lesson
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope it will be a blessing to your work!
It's not really the Bible so much as it's every religion and set of laws that man has established since pre-history. The morality of certain acts (such as genocide and infanticide) were much more ambiguous thousands of years ago. Even YWHW of the Old Testament venerated those acts as morally superior under certain conditions. The reality of morality is that its always in flux and is accorded to the environmental and developmental reality of our species. If life gets harder, morals will degrade and regress to older times. With increased coopoeration between nations and races (ie globalization), morality has been progressing and evolving, but that will never stop. Our morality as a species will always reflect the necessary survival strategies and inherent culture of the time.
I completely agree that some religions have man-made laws that may not necessarily agree with the laws of God. Every person will have to decide if they want to believe in the Bible (I'm a minister and realize that most people don't), and then follow the moral laws God gave in it. Morality does seem to constantly be in flux. And I hope you're correct that morals will keep getting better. I'm in constant contact with people from other countries and the same moral deviance seems to exist no matter where one is, though.
Watching I love that song it reminds me of where I have been and I am trying to deny self not yet there but I want to keep trying
It is a beautiful hymn that's been inspiring people to act better for 150 years. It's a real blessing that God told us to sing with our hearts because we can devote these phenomenal songs to memory and have them always with us.
If you need the threat of hell to be a good person then you are not a good person
I can definitely feel that assertion. The point of the Bible is to take a bad person, and through the threat of hell and the promise of heaven, convince them to become better people. Some completely reject it. But others listen and go through some pretty remarkable changes. Just something to consider.
"Foulless basketball is an idea" to "Torturing children might not be such a bad idea" in an instant, I like this guy.
lol. Well, it was only meant to be an illustration. No other conclusions intended!

Thank you very much brother Kyle for this beautiful and wonderful topic.

What you should have said is that the Bible is real, because a natural universe isn't real, eliminating evolution.
Do you mean by "natural" a Universe that couldn't have come into being without the direction of God?
Thank you brother for being faithful to the call of the gospel. God bless you and merry Christmas!

Where is the word "pope" in the Bible? *NOWHERE!!* And another thing, the word "pope" comes from the Latin "papa," which means, "father." Now, what did Jesus say about calling others "father" in a religious or spiritual sense? He said at Matt. 23:9: "Call no one on earth your father; you have but one Father in heaven." Clearly, in compliance with what Jesus said at Matt. 23:9, Peter never referred to himself by the title, "Father," and neither did the Christians of the first century. One other thing, the Catholic Church adheres to the belief that the pope must be celibate. Well, what about Peter, the person Catholics believe was the first pope? Was he celibate? No. Peter, along with a number of the other apostles, was a married man. As 1 Cor 9:5 says: "Don't we have the right to bring a Christian wife with us as the other apostles and the Lord's brothers do, and as Peter does?" So, was Peter a pope? No.
We would agree! Thanks for the comment!

Again the lie that the bible tells anything about the age of the earth.
Why do you consider it a lie?
@loop287churchofchrist Because the bible doesn't tell that.
@@georg7120 It actually does. Please contact me at info@lawofliberty.com and let's discuss it
the only thing you lack is evidence.
We actually have the same evidence as you. It's a matter of how it's interpreted.
@@loop287churchofchrist TREE RINGS AND ICE CORES AND ARE A MATTER MATTER OF INTERPRETATION? WHEN YOU CAN JUST COUNT THEM?
I disagree with you. We cannot lose our Salvation once we have trusted in the name of Jesus Christ. And it is his righteousness that covers Us yes like a blanket or an umbrella because otherwise we would be unacceptable to the Father. No one can pluck them out of my hand. We are His. 😊
The New Testament has many warnings of falling away from Christ, and of being steadfast in your faith. The only way this can be interpreted is that we can indeed fall away from Christ. You are correct in that Jesus definitely said that no one can "snatch them out of My hand" (John 10:28). But He doesn't address the fact of what we can do to ourselves. We can make shipwreck of our own faith. People in the New Testament did it (1 Timothy 1:19; 2 Timothy 4:10), and so can we (Galatians 5:4).
Good encouraging message Campbell my brother
Galatians 3:28 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Jesus
Romans 6:5-7 New Life Version 5 If we have become one with Christ in His death, we will be one with Him in being raised from the dead to new life. 6 We know that our old life, our old sinful self, was nailed to the cross with Christ. And so the power of sin that held us was destroyed. Sin is no longer our boss. 7 When a man is dead, he is free from the power of sin.
For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
