Joel actually helped work on the Minecraft OST. He wasn't officially credited for it but it is true nonetheless, he helped work on Mice on Venus (mouse reference) and one or two others I believe. The familiarity really made sense after learning that.
He says his emotions don't affect his music. When you hear works such as this and camilla, or bleed, you have to wonder if that's true or not. I certainly believe that emotions, subconscious or conscious, affect your music even if you do not think they do.
