Thought i was watching Pimp my ride from the intro
I wouldn't leave mine out under 10C in the UK
I know this video is 4 years old, but thank you! Thank you and thank you! I bought this plant from a private seller who was leaving the UK, not knowing what it was called, even the seller didn't know, but we both agreed that it was indeed an unusual plant. I've been searching for how to care for it for about 2 weeks and Google search kept returning the 'luciae'. So, glad I finally found this video!
I have questions????
Like 28, awesome footage capturing the beautiful lovely alluring plants that entice your viewers to keep on watching, thanks for sharing this wonderful relaxing garden, stay safe always.
Thanks so much for the support! Have a awesome and relaxing week!
Wow WELCOME BACK guys . You’ve been missed . Pleased to see you both . Great content as usual . I’m in Bathurst NSW , minus temps in winter and it snows on the outskirts of town . I know you live in the ACT ( unless you’ve moved . ) Would you please do a video one day on what succs can be grown in the garden that are frost hardy . I’m aware of the more common ones myself but there would be those that arnt .. new collectors .. Also I have a fair size cactus collection which I intend keeping over winter in the plant house which Is polycarbonate cladded . What are your thoughts on this idea . Once again very pleased your back . Love the humour too . Cheers Marg 🎉
Thanks Margaret! That's a fantastic idea for a video! We will try to get one out for that soon! In terms of the plant house that sounds like a great idea. We tend to use both our greenhouse and other sheltered areas in winter to help protect our plants too! It can make a huge difference providing that little bit more protection! Thanks again for all the support!
Beautiful plants you got there. I just watched your jellybean episode, how's your experience with the Aurora variety in the past years?
Hi Maoufreed. We've got a few small groups of the aurora variety. We've been trying to build up our collection of them as they have such a vivid colour. Compared to the jellybeans in our previous video we find that they are slower growing and are also more vulnerable to extremes in temperature. Definitely a beautiful variety but just need a bit more careful consideration of where they are placed to help protect them!
Can you please tell me what i can do for my flap jack plant... its getting very leggy and the leaves are growing downwards.
Very beautiful, I love this plant! 💚
Thanks so much 😊
Gioisce e quando
Fiorisce e quando
The crassula ovata gollum will flower in the warmer months if your conditions are favorable enough. They are pinkish-white and shaped like a star.
How come my dark vader has black spots even I already spray it with anti fungal? Is DV really like that? Thanks
Hard to say without seeing the plant but its probably either overwatering or sunburn. If you think it's from overwatering you can try the following: unpot the plant and check it's roots. If they are still healthy trim off all damaged leaves and stems and then repot it. If the roots are mushy the plant is likely to be a lost cause. Trim some cuttings off any remaining healthy parts, let them callous over and then plant them.
If it's sunburn you'll need to remove the sunburned leaves and then put the plant in more shade. Happy planting!
My aristaloe did not open it remain closed I placed it in rain or shine. Why is it like that Sir? Please reply thanks😢 #lowlandManila
Looks like an Agave Kissho kan? any difference?
Why isn't it purple?
The succulent wasn't stressed enough at the time of filming. If you check out ua-cam.com/video/ZTuSf9ToItU/v-deo.html at 4:18 it has footage of the plant when it changes its tips to purple hence the name.
Proudly SOUTH AFRICAN INDIAN..I JUST LOVE THIS
Yeah it's crazy how many come from South Africa! Thanks for watching!
Thank ypu for this beautiful.plants that makes iur garden more colordul.
Thank you!
My flapjack is TOO tall. 20 inches and very sturdy but I want to cut . Where? How?
I got the dark vader from a store. They were telling me its topsy Turvey until i found this video. Thanks Sir😜
Thanks! Happy growing!
Hi i don’t know if you’re still active but my lace aloe flowered nicely but the flowers have now dried out, should i cut the flower stem to allow it to regrow next year or just leave the stem?
As with most aloes, you can do either..I tend to allow the flowering racemes just to die before cutting back these dried stems.
Hey my aristaloe aristata has about 20 pups. Only about a month or so now. None of them have rosettes. I could send a pic if you want via email. I am wondering about when I want to remove the pups. I have been wanting to repot it but I am worried because of the babies. How many pups per pot? Thanks for any help you or anyone can give me!
Hi Drizzle! Sorry for the long delay! You should be able to just remove the pups (preferably do this in spring). Once you've removed them plant them in well draining soil and wait a few days to water! Thanks for watching!!!!
I have a big lace aloe and the bottom leaves don't look so good? Can I take and top part and cut off all the bad leaves and report her? I think I'm just going to try. I have so many off sets from her plus too are blooming. It's so fun
Having a tough time eliminating white mildew from my Gollum....any suggestions?
How do you make a trunk for your succulent
Okay, mine was the dark green when I brought it home. It’s now turning that light/pale green from the inside of the rosette working itself out. They’re not as plump/stocky (they’re skinny width wise, not that it’s not retaining water! lol) as the outside either. Does this mean she’s just not getting enough light? I worry because when I first brought her home, I discovered she wasn’t even nestled in the pot. Her rootball was just sitting on the surface. She’s since been repotted a couple days now and I’ve been keeping her in the window thinking light will help. Do they turn dark green again?
lastimma no se inggles
thats a nuts variation in temperature! Where do u live?
Hi Gaudion! We live in a place called Canberra! It definitely has a big range over the year with temps!
Absolutely they are my favourite house plant at the moment .
Agreed! They are a awesome plant!
How much (%) organic matter should I use in the potting mix? I'm growing mine outdoors in South Florida
Like many succulents we find they prefer a really gritty kind of mixture. You could get this through a Cacti & Succulent Potting mix or you could make your own. When we make our own we tend to aim for 45% sand or other grit, a couple of handfuls of perlite (probably 10% of the mix) and then the rest (45%) gardening soil. The perlite will help aid in aeration and drainage. The sandy part will make the potting mix less compact and increase drainage whilst the garden soil will provide nutrients for the succulents. Hope that helps and best of luck with the gardening!
@@fosterandgrow tk u very much!🌱
@@regiegija02 You're welcome!
Hi guys I was wondering is that plant the silver spoons? The cousins copper spoons? It looks like it
Hi V Borja! Whilst they look reasonably similar this is actually a Crassula ovata 'Blue Bird'. The silver spoons plant tends to have large oval leaves that are silvery grey and long curved stems which give the appearance of spoons. In comparison the crassula ovata blue bird has thicker branches (you can see this around the 3 minute mark) as well as round bound blue to grey foliage on the leaves with red tinging at the tips (there is a good example of this just after the 5 minute mark in the video). It's amazing how many slight variations there is within succulents! Hope you are having a amazing week and thanks for checking out our channel!
Great to have you fellas back, you’ve been missed. Nice collection and garden you have. I saw a few that I have , I think I saw a Mexican Snowball there in the garden with a few offsets ????? Nice if that’s the case as I’ve just acquired 2 plants . 👍🪴 Cheers and welcome back.
Thanks Margaret we really appreciate it! We definitely have a few Mexican Snowballs in the garden so well done on spotting and identifying that! Have a great week and thanks again for all the support!
my one’s leaf’s are rolling inwards i got it today and i love it! however, is this normal?
I watered mines to death
Been binge watching all of your videos, great advice! Will you be uploading some more videos soon? ☺️
Hi Perxbear! Apologies for the delay but we had taken a break from posting to the channel! However we recently started filming videos again and put up a video around succulents and winter colours 10 days ago. Thanks again for the support we really appreciate it! Hope you have a awesome week!
very nice, Im buying 2in and 4 inch succulent starters, and I see some of the heads of your succulents are giganteus, amazing, a lot of them have acclimated very well in their little niche, very nice indeed.
My flapjack is droopy and have white powdery leaves. I live in the Caribbean, how do i care for these
Thanks for your advice, just got three types of these, including this one, along with plum dazzled and lime twister. Going to put them in a full sun position. But with Northern UK weather that will probably translate to semi shade lol.
will the flower grow back on the stem of my lace aloe because my flower died from not enough water? if it’s not going to grow back in spring next year then i want to cut the stem off so it’s just the aloe.
Hey Zoie! The beautiful tall flowers will grow back on brand new stems! You can cut the old stem off near it’s base to make the Lace Aloe look nicer. Then just wait for the next stem to appear and produce another beautiful flower. Hope this helps, happy gardening and stay safe!
I just got one of these plants and I noticed the leaves wrinkling I had no idea I was underwatering it! I'm a person that always over waters! I was wonder if you know what the edges turning brown means? Is it sunburn maybe? Or is it just another under watering issue?
Hi Little Mouse. Apologies for the delay in responding but we took a bit of a break from the channel. It's hard to know without seeing your plant but here is a couple of things to bear in mind. The most common reason for brown leaves on succulents is sunburn or sun damage. Sometimes it can also indicate under-watering - this usually shows up with a shriveled appearance plus burned (brown) leaves. Other potential causes of the browning could also be pests, fungal leaf or over-watering. With over-watering you will get the brown marks but also splitting in the skin of the leaves - you could check this by looking at the soil to check if it is saturated and then in future allowing the soil to try out in between watering. If you would like more information around the signs with under and over watering with succulents check out our "how to identify watering issues with your succulent" video here: ua-cam.com/video/EVRGW-y7nBM/v-deo.html Hope that helps!!!
What do I do if my new jelly bean plant is loosing leaves quickly, and the fall off at the slightest touch?
What did you do to save the weak gollum. How's it doing? Mine is in same state.
Hi Baby Bolt, our weak Gollum was getting too much sun throughout the day, specifically during summer. Temperatures here are over 40 degrees C. We moved it into a location that has a lot more shade and indirect light. The leaves now look healthy and are a much darker shade of green. They even have red tops on them at the moment because of our cool overnight temperatures. We wish you luck nursing your Gollum back to health! Let us know how you go! Stay safe
@@fosterandgrow thanks.
Hi guys, miss your vlogs. I brought a nice size blue bird today , so checked out this video . Very helpful . Cheers 🍻
He Margaret, thx again for your support 😊 it’s been a crazy last 6 months but we hope to get another video out soon. Great to hear you got a lovely big Blue Bird!! They are such a beautiful plant, we’ve had to shelter ours from all the frosts, it’s been cold this year. Glad you got some good info from the video, we had fun making that one! Stay safe and stay tuned 📺!
Can’t see the plant
Apologies Doreen this was one of our earlier videos so we didn't have any close ups of the plant. If you would like a closer look at the plant you can check it out at 1.22 in our Echeveria Identification video: ua-cam.com/video/vsMvs6gTTAc/v-deo.html
Why My aristata leaves are turning brown in color any idea ?? Due to under water or may due to over water ?? Or i need to put that in partial sun light
Hey Aditya, we find that ours turn brown when they get too much 🌞. Try putting them in a location that only gives them direct morning sun. The Lace Aloe’s don’t even need direct sun only light. Let us know how you go!! Stay safe and happy gardening
I love kalanchoes
We totally agree! They are such beautifully shaped succulents aren’t they!! 🪴
Hey love your video but I had a question, I only have one of those succulents and I don't think it is sprouting any new ones. Is there any other way I can propagate it?
Hey Kiwi Nugget we are glad you enjoyed the video! It can take a while for them to sprout pups. If you take it out of its pot gently you might be able to see the sprouts growing below the surface level. They can stay hidden for quiet some time. Let us know how you go. Stay safe and happy gardening!
@@fosterandgrow Oh ok thanks so much! I actually did find some little baby ones I hadn't seen before. Thanks!
So when you say callous do you mean leave it out without water like you would a cactus
Hi Ali! Apologies for the delay in responding! We had a break from posting to the channel. When we talk about callusing we mean that you should leave the cutting to thicken and harden around the area of the cut. This usually takes 2 - 3 days but we sometimes leave our cuttings for up to a month on a window sill without water. After this period you should look to plant the cutting. If you don't leave the area to dry and harden it leaves the cutting much more susceptible to rotting around the cut. Hope that helps!
Hi guys, I have brought a Dark Vader this arv, , a very good specimen. Your video will be helpful for me with its care. Missing your videos 😒 so looking forward to your return. 🌱🪴👍 cheers 🥂
Absolutely amazingly explained...keep it up
Wow wow wow thank you 🙏 Please can you tell me the mixture re sand to soil ratio.. I purchased some sempevivum tectorum a few weeks ago.. they were infested mealy bugs have cleaned all of the darlings 😤 After watching you great knowledgeable video.. I need to get them out of soil.. Thank you so so much I’m a fan
Hi Dee! Apologies for the delay in responding we had a bit of a break from the channel. In regards to Sempervivums we find they prefer a really gritty kind of mixture. You could get this through a Cacti & Succulent Potting mix or you could make your own.
