The flowers are cool looking.
I stuff dry shredded leaves inside my trees with a five foot swimming pool wall around it. Worked real good last year.
@@edwardashby9979 That sounds like a really good idea!
I live in So. Jordan, Utah. I'm enjoying watching your videos 😊
@@michellemarie3214 Thank you for wqtching my videos!
Great video! I ordered 10 seeds from a supplier online a couple months ago, and ive been trying to germinate 5 of them. Unfortunately they havent sprouted yet after a month. I soaked them and i have had them in a baggie with damp paper towel ever since. A couple weeks ago, I scarified them since they are hard and thoight that might speed them up. But now i think theyre just molding. I have 5 more seeds to try. Do you have any tips? I'm up in Ogden and will have them along a fence on the SW corner of the house (if they will grow)
I learned something new today, never heard of this plant before!
@@CornParticulates They are amazing plants! Thanks for watching my video.
Always feel good to get a job done! I’m in your zone on the other side NY Zone 6b/7a. We had our 1st snow last night. Very wet..not really cold yet. I was going to keep the cone flowers up but I hate the way they look!
Can you possibly show more pictures of iris to be discarded when dividing? I get confused easily.
@@zigtonswizard3670 I created a newer video that shows a little more. Here's the link. ua-cam.com/video/y_WnhonbI0U/v-deo.htmlsi=3-4AEcynReNqEJfY

@@LilyValmonte I would love to know what you end up planting! Bulbs are so much fun.
where do you buy your plants?
@@EvanSmith-r3g I get them online from various nurseries. Starks Bros, One Green World and Edible Landscaping are some of my favorites.
Thank you.
This was very informative for me since I also live in Utah. I’m impressed with what you’ve been able to grow and would like to subscribe. Where do you live in the state? I’m at the 5200 foot level in Olympus Cove.
@@lindaolson8009 I am so glad to have you here! I live in Pleasant Grove.
How do you design and or develop a garden with negative energy? I have a lot of special interest around homesteading I think I get really excited over it and I may miss or am delayed on some messages.
@Newtable_Blooms I am not sure what you mean by negative energy.
If the 4 inch pot graftlings don't survive why not plant them in a larger pot for a year or two? That way you're effectively giving yourself the one you can't find, to plant in the ground. By the way I'm in New Zealand and as Australians call 'Papaya', Paw Paw it's often used here too. I'm still momentarily thrown but since the 1980s I've known of this U.S. native. Intrepid gardeners (who back then had to import their own) have grown them here.
They are all too old and rotted. You need to harvest in late October / early November. Lay them out in a tray and once bletted just scrape off the base and squeeze the pulp and seeds out. You can then boil this up with water and pass through a sieve to make a smooth paste before sweetening.
@@rcordiner Thank you.
My three Vitex were planted early summer and did well until almost overnight the leaves became black with a fungus I pruned them back and sprayed with furtilome hopefully they will survive - there are new leaves but compared to a month ago.
@@tikalaudun215 I really hope they come back for you!

Thank you so much! Really like your channel and will be checking in often. Questions: can you talk a little in overwintering pots in Utah? I’m in same zone as you. Cathy, Utah
@@fungrammacat I can look into that. I don't really over winter anything in pots other than succulents. Maybe I can find someone to interview.
@ that would be great. I have a boxwood topiary in a container and I place it against st the south side of my house against the brick, under my viburnum tree. It did great last year but I’m not knowing what to do with my hydrangea I planted in a pot. I think I’ll winter it same place. Wish me luck
@ thanks for your reply.
@fungrammacat Good luck! It sounds like you are doing what needs to be done to helo them survive..
@ I learned a lot from you today. The compost you have is awesome.
Every season brings a different beauty to the garden. Thank you for all you share from yours!

Hi! Nice info. Please tell me if I can grow them in Pot. I am living in a Flat
@@umanenwani5719 These grow really well in pots.
👍I agree with you that some clean up is good. We have neighbors and an HOA--and they all have an opinion about our yard and garden--which I try to respect. Some cutback and cleaning makes everyone feel better and makes things go more smoothly in the spring. It only makes sense that garden tasks fit the season and how everything works together.
Thank you for such a nuanced and thoughtful take!
@@armedwithcrayons Thank you
A very sensible and refreshing conversation! I really appreciate hearing - and often agree with - your perspective, M’Li. When it comes to gardening & garden cleanup - there’s a lot of opinions & guidance on how to do it in the most eco-conscious way. I agree with you, M’Li: listen to those suggestions and take on what works best for your situation. “Don’t let perfection be the enemy of the good.”
@@BrandywineGarden Thank you!
Helpful and inspiring!

If I ever do end up trying to grow in the winter then I would go all out to protect what I have. I think what you are showing is a half ass job to try to protect what is being grown! I would not take the same approach as you.
@@knowledgeandmultiskilled Thank you for your opinion. The beauty of gardening is that we all do what works for us, and what I do has worked well for me in my circumstances.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful yard with us.
I recently used the rosselle leaves in porkloaf .... very nice contrast!
Thanks. I’m on year 3 with Thirsty Earth ollas. Massive increase in garden productivity. Watering 24/7, perfect amount, no missed watering. I still drip for a couple minutes a day in addition to the ollas, just to keep my soil growing bacteria/fungus. Seriously, I’m roughly double the productivity since before ollas. It’s forced me to ramp up my canning and reduce how many beds I dedicate to tomatoes (over 500 pounds this year.) We just packed mine in for the winter this weekend.
