Solo hurricane chaser from Miami, FL.
Hurricane Nicole (2022): Cat 1 nighttime landfall, Hutchinson Island, FL
Footage from Category 1 Hurricane Nicole (2022), from a nighttime solo chase on a barrier island, provides a uniquely immersive and closeup view of 5 ft (1.5 m) storm surge and driving rain in 75 mph (120 kmh) winds. Note the importance of sand dunes in protecting coastal areas from storm-driven wave action.

Do NOT attempt to emulate any part of this footage. This video was filmed by an experienced hurricane chaser and researcher. Natural disasters are dangerous and can cause major physical or emotional trauma before, during, or after such events. A tropical cyclone landfall may last from hours to days, with basic needs and services unavailable during the event and indefinitely afterward. All severe weather, especially at night, should be taken seriously to prevent property damage, injury, or death. Always pay attention to storm surge warnings, as surge is a leading cause of hurricane fatalities. I hereby disclaim any and all liability from personal or material damages suffered as a result of attempting what is shown in this video.

- Additional information:
All video footage was filmed with iPhone 13 Pro. Some audio has been mixed from iPhone and GoPro recordings at or around the same time of each clip. The audio mixing was done as iPhone or GoPro audio alone did not capture some storm aspects well, and subjectively best represents all parts of the storm as I experienced it, including background wind, gusts, rain, and waves.
The times at the bottom indicate only the start time of each sequence. The times are local, U.S. Eastern Standard Time.
I will try to respond to questions in UA-cam comments, or you can DM me with scientific or chase-specific questions:

*Content warning: This footage may be disturbing, especially to survivors of Hurricane Dorian or other hurricanes or disasters.* This video does not otherwise contain graphic footage (no injury or death). "This has to be the most incredible footage ever captured of a category 5 hurricane" -Reed Timmer, Ph.D., ReedTimmerAccu/status/1438529459464941572. On September 1, 2019, Hurricane...
A microburst is sudden instant gust of wind that is caused by pressure differentials in the area. Meaning winds of 209kph could go to 315kph in the matter of a couple hundred milliseconds! And you dont want to be in one.
HI, We are the crew of a show called <You Quiz on the Block> from South Korea. We would like to use your footage. Could we get any contact email address?
Hurricane dorian 2019 alert

Florida seriously dodged a bullet with Hurricane Milton after it rapidly intensified to 180mph in a matter of 12 hours (going from Cat 1 to cat 5). This is what could have been if Milton did not weaken... Milton's eye passed over me at 1:00 am that night, we were all okay.
Men the guy who film this is so lucky to be alive you got my respect men salute
😢🙏🏻
Imagine a category 6
It's like this most weekends where I live.
More human garbage littering and poluting the seas.
Yep, I'll be be moving there as soon as I've got my whole life to throw away.

rip palmtrees
This footage makes hurricanes Milton and Helene look like they were nothing more than light breezes.
185 mph= a cat 6
hurricane thermal dynamics do not allow a cat 6 anything over195 mph a hurricane will rip itself apart
У нас вчера был такой ветер
What a Monster! Cat 5 185 MPH! Crazy and dangerous! I just experienced a Cat 3 with Milton. That was bad enough. This is worse! 😮Sustained Winds ripping Trees down! 😮Wow!
Mother Nature is scary as Hell !
This is insane footage 😮
At some point it was like the video is on 2x speed, but damn that's how it was in real!!!!!
Did you get hit by a hurricane
Best footage of storm I have ever seen 😲😲😲. Salute to the cameraman. Salute to the resilience of the trees.
The wind was really fierce
This video gives you a sense of what a cat 3, 4 and 5 look like, as the storm gets progressively worse.
Wow, just wow
Mother nature is really not okay with our behavior
It is like the cyclone fani in puri district of odisha, India 2019. Which widy speed was 230kmhr. But in 1999 super cyclone was too terrible.
Wow balls of steel!! ❤😂
You are fearless! I have the greatest respect for you!
I'm now
Damn that was a fast hurricane! It seems like every time we get one in the Carolinas they just wanna hang out!
9:08 bro broke the sound barrier
This is both fascinating and terrifying. It’s completely beyond my comprehension being from London we don’t have any extreme weather.
15 minutes in, those are narly winds brother. Respect for putting yourself at risk. Dorian is a legend storm.💪
