Hi, I tried to download the pattern here and on your instagram account without any luck. Can you fix this problem? Thank you!
Great video, thank-you.
This is so helpful
Thank you so for your tutorial. So easy to follow. Will make a wonderful gift.
Thank you so much for your time in this awesome tutorial. Just what I needed for changing colors and making the project look neat. Awesome!
Wow great tutorial! Ant wait to start!!
This is exactly what I needed!!! I’m crocheting a blanket right now and I was stuck on how to calculate the number of bobbins I needed and couldn’t find anything on it. You answered all my questions and you were thorough every step of the way!
I'm so glad this was what you needed! Thank you so much for the kind words! :)
I like your video but I couldn't tell how you was changing colors cause your camera was too far away.i was wondering if you can do another video with your camera up closer.
Nice design, what tool did you use to make the graph?
Thanks! I use Stitch Fiddle :)
Just gorgeous ❤
Absolutely wonderful tutorial‼️
Beautiful tutorial, very detailed!!
This is an excellent tutorial for intarsia crochet! I have looked at several and this is by far the most fully explained and demonstrated. Thank you so much for the explanation and free pattern. I was looking for a tutorial for another project that I'm making for a friend and your tutorial has been invaluable. I may even use your pillow pattern as a practice before I begin my project, which is much larger. Thank you again!!!!🥰
I'm so glad it was helpful for you!!
This is what is called "Intarsia" crochet...I find that other UA-camrs carry their yarns along 5stitches sometimes and they yet they call it "Intarsia"....To me, once you have to carry the non-working yarn across, it becomes Tapestry...like you said, sometimes we crocheters cheat 😁
Your pillow turned out so beautiful🥰
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!
Thank you for such a great tutorial! I get confused because I just don't "get" how to read the graph. I did not use your pattern; perhaps I should. But I drew a pattern on graph paper. And one leg of my minion is the correct size and the other is too skinny. I am guessing it happens when I come in from the left side which for me is the back side...something with how to count. Alas, I will just keep watching you teach me.
I can't speak to a pattern I didn't design, but good luck with your project! I'm glad the tutorial was helpful! :)
Did u when u say u got to put the white yarn back to u when I put the new color on put the old color under the new one before carrying on with the new color Like when your new color is on the hook u take the old one and put it underneath the new color that’s on the hook does that make sense ? Do u know how to do graphgan? Blankets that is .. can I apply putting the old color under the new color kind of cross I g it over while my new color is on the hook ? Would that work to give me a Cleaner look
Hi Cassandra, I'm really not sure I understand what you're asking... My advice is to follow the video step by step, pausing and replaying as needed until you understand the technique. Graphgan blankets I think are more like my tapestry technique where the non-dominant color is carried through the other stitches rather than separated into bobbins like the Intarsia technique where there is no carry through. Each technique if done properly gives a clean look. :)
Hello 😊 I’m getting ready to start my back panel for the letter M I ordered. I’m just curious why the front we chained 70 across and for the back we’re doing a chain of 65 across?
Hi Mindy, in my experience from all the color changing and tension required for the front panel, it creates a slightly more narrow panel at the same amount of stitches. So I use 65 for the back because I need less stitches to achieve the same width. That being said, you can use whatever amount of stitches you need to get to 18". This is just what consistently works for me.
@@TLBPatterns ok thank you! I thought it was probably something like that! 😊
This is a fabulous tutorial! I am just so thrilled with what I learned here. Regarding the slip stitches around the 3 sides? Can sc also be used? Again thank you for spending so much time teaching us this great new way to crochet!
So glad you enjoyed it! If you use single crochet around the RS, you can probably use a contrasting color to create a "border" effect. If you use single crochet on the WS, it might be a little bulkier and less seamless when you turn the pillow cover right side out.
I like your video but I wish your camera was a little closer so I can see how you do the color changes on the front side and back side.
Thanks... Sorry it wasn't close enough for you. If you have specific questions, feel free to message me! :)
Hi 😊 Is there a way to print out the graph pattern on one sheet like you have there?
Hi! I do believe the download is on one page. But if it’s not printing on one page for you, then send me an email and I’ll email it over ☺️
@@TLBPatterns I got it figured out! One more question. If I use a 5.75 hook will it be that big of a difference? I have every size but my 5mm. Go figure. Thank you! 😊
You can definitely use that size hook, but if you come out closer to 13”x13” it might be better to go with the 14”x14” insert instead of the 12”x12”. 😊
Ms. Emily, thank you! 😊 This will be my very, very first attempt at tapestry crochet - where have I been😁 I plan on using a fuchia & gold color scheme. So pretty!!
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the pattern! ❤️
Are you planning to put out more videos?
Unfortunately, no not at this time. Is there a question I can help you with?
Thank you so much for this EXCELLENT tutorial! I wish that I would have had this tutorial 25 years ago and completed tons of Intarsia by now! I will now be able to take out a kit out that I threw in the closet years ago for a baby afghan and complete it. I will be purchasing your patterns! Keep up the good work!
I’m so happy you found this so helpful!!! Thank you so much for the kind words!!! ❤️❤️
This is an amazing tutorial, it’s a shame that u have only 2 videos. You should keep on posting ur tutorials ur too good at it.
Aww thank you so much! ☺️
Really good tutorial. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have a question I follow the way you do your technique intarsia with my blankets But I have a question is that how u do blankets Wrong side the yarn goes in the front right and right side it goes in the back something like that.. than again I just watch another video and that says my yarn should always be in the back … which is it for blankets that are graphgans ?
No matter what the project is, the bobbin should always be left on the wrong side (WS) when finished working with it.
Best tutorial I’ve seen on how to complete an Intarsia Crochet project. I love your method for determining the number of bobbins and reading the chart. You made me want to try my hand at this again. Thank you.
Oh gosh, you are so sweet! I'm so glad you found it helpful, and hope you have fun trying this technique out again!!
Hi Emily. I'm from Brazil and I love your vídeo plenty of details. Thank you só much for share with us. I don't know why I couldn't make the download of the graphic. I tryied a lot of times without get It. Do you mind send It to my e-mail? I will really apreciate. Thank you, once more.
Hi Inah! That's no problem at all... Send me an email at twolittlebirdspatterns@gmail.com and I'll reply with the pattern... :)
Hi,Emily, can you do almost the same video but have your camera up more closer.i love your video but I couldn't see what you was doing.
Hi Elizabeth! I won't be making another video, but if you have specific questions, feel free to email me! I'd be glad to help!
Just beautiful! I'm struggling with carrying colors and not having it show through either side, especially when using a dark main color with white. What tip do you recommend on carrying two different yarn colors? I'm crocheting a headband with three white letters. How did you make your graph? Thank you.
Hi! Yes, show-through is often not completely avoidable especially when using a dark color with a light color. You can try to crochet a little tighter or use a flecked yarn to camouflage it a little better. I use stitch fiddle to design my graphs. :)
@@TLBPatterns Thank you for this information.
I love your video but it needs to have a more close up view so we can see what you are doing.
Thanks! Glad you liked the video! I am definitely not a pro at filming, lol, so I just tried to get the best shot possible to explain the steps. Hope it was still somewhat helpful to you. :)
Perfect, dear! Thank you so much!!
You are so welcome! :)
Love this making mine now!!!
Yay! Have fun! :)
Can you please let me know what website you use to make your graph?
Sure! I use Stitch Fiddle...
@@TLBPatterns Thank you 😊
Great tutorial!!! Thanks
So glad you enjoyed it! ☺️
Can you do a video where you do a color change after a stitch on the wrong side? I love your video.
Hi! So glad you love the video! You can see how I do color changes on the Wrong Side starting at 43:30. :)
Have you ever tried washing the cushion with the crochet case? Is there a reason why you don't slip stitch on the bottom when you put two pieces together?
Yes, you can wash it on gentle cycle (in a laundry bag or pillow case) and then dry on low fluffing as needed. As for slip stitching the bottom, the reason why I don't do that is because it creates a "lip" and I prefer a more seamless, finished look. The slip-stitched edges around the sides are hidden when you turn the pillow case right side out, and then a whip stitch provides a cleaner look for the bottom. Hope this helps explain it! :)
Thanks so much for this tutorial!! It really explains alot and makes it easier to create your beautiful patterns!!!
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :)
You should upload more of these. It's amazing. Great work keep it up.
Thank you so much!!
Also, could this be done the way you did the BEAUTIFUL pillow.. I am doing red and white, red really bleeds through, not sure if you said that or not.. also using a different word. Hugs. More videos please.. you have taught me so much just in 2 videos.. 😘
Yes, I can be done in Intarsia, but the row count would be different since Tapestry is done using double stranded thickness which makes it work up a little quicker. :). Also, yes, using a light and a dark color together can be tricky, which is why I recommend the fleck yarns to camouflage it somewhat. So glad you learned so much!
Omgosh, another one. Awesome. You definitely need to make more videos. You are awesome teacher.. alos. Love the yarn too you are using i just got that brand. Vest yarn ever. Hugs and you sure should make more videos. You are a great teacher.. hugs
Thank you so much for all the kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Finally watched to the end. I have to comment again . You did a fabulous job teaching how to do this pillow.. one if the best I have seen, and I have watched alot of videos on here. Thank you again
That's such a huge compliment... Thank you!!
Love this. Want to make a beanie with a big heart with a number in middle with mybsons name on it.. thank you.. watching all kinds of videos and trying to learn the best look for me. Thisbis very nice. Thanks for sharing.. hugs ps: you are an awesome teacher.. 😊
Thank you! There's an amazing designer that sells the beanie patterns you are referring to... Justyna from Lady Jay Crochet. I'll link her Etsy shop here: www.etsy.com/shop/LadyJayCrochet
Thanks a Lot! Great work with clear explanations!
So glad you found it helpful!!
EXCELLENT TUTORIAL!!!!!!! You are an excellent teacher! Great, great video!
Thank you SO much! So glad you found it helpful! :)
Hello!!! if I do more colors I have to carry all too? since the beginning ?
Hi! When I use more than 2 colors, I use the Intarsia technique (a different bobbin for each color section). I have a video on that also. It might help to watch that technique because for more than 2 colors at once, I find it to be easier. :)
One of the best tapestry crochet tutorial , I ‘ve watched .I will be visiting your Etsy shop for some cool patterns. Thanks 👍🏾
Aww thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it!
Me too.. I can't wait. I hope you have some beanies on there. With phrases and stuff. Thanks again. For being so kind to share.
Question: left handed crocheter here. So for me would I read it backwards from righthanders?
Ok, so you will be crocheting from left to right, where I crochet from right to left... As far as following the graph, you will follow it right to left on all odd number rows, and left to right on all even number rows. The only difference is that when you crochet odd number rows, you will be facing the wrong side of your work (where I would be facing the right side) and when you crochet even number rows, you will be facing the right side of your work (where I would be facing the wrong side). Hope this helps! :)
It absolutely does thank you so much for the help. I’ll give it another go. I was wondering why nothing was matching up. 🙌🏻
Hi! Just a quick question: on RS rows, why bring the bobbin forward then back? Why not just keep it in the back when starting the next color?
Hi! I guess that's just my way of ensuring the yarn sits in the right spot during the color transition. I feel it makes for a more smooth color transition visually and also ensures that the bobbins go back to the WS. If you find that you don't need to do that, then you are definitely free to do it in a way you are comfortable with. :)
