We had a family outing to Winterplace Ski Resort today. My daughter had her second adventure into snowboarding. I did a little skiing. The Mrs. caught up on her reading but was certainly there to support us. We had a blast.

On July 5th, my wife, son, and I left Berkeley County and traveled south through Virginia on Skyline Drive through Shenandoah National Park. We were going to hop on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but there was a pretty good size storm between Roanoke and Afton so we hopped on the interstate and went to Salem for the night. Thanks for watching!!!

Today, my beautiful wife and I took a ride across the Highland Scenic Highway in Pocahontas County, WV. The leaves were definitely peaked in some spots and the sun was hitting them just right to make the colors pop. We also stopped by the Williams River and Honeycomb Rocks. Episode 29: Hanging Rock Raptor Observatory
Flag Rock was used by the Confederacy to signal allies on Union Troop movements.
Thanks for the documentary. This will be on my list of places to visit. I have visited a few civil war battle grounds and I always get this sad feeling come over me. So many Americans killed and wounded and there were so many unknown soldiers buried. The sad thing is their families knew them, they just didn't come home.
Never seen it that low before
@@jamesstone9213 I hadn’t either, but when this was filmed, the USFS dropped the lake over the winter to apply herbicide to help control the watershield around the lake.
I’m very familiar with Hosterman. What was your grandfather’s last name if you don’t mind me asking.
Not a problem at all. My great grandad was a Galford. They moved from Hosterman in 1967 when they sold their land to the observatory. It later became National Forest.

The Founding of West Virginia Statehood ... Interesting Political Story..ah Wheeling..
was up there about 10 years or so ago. Its a serene place. I think there is one local man buried there who served in the Confederate Army as there was a tombstore there with a name. The Old Stone Church Cemetary and the Slave Cemetary are rather interesting as well.
There are also Confederate soldiers buried in Green Hill Cemetery in Union, WV. Which is in Monroe County.
What a peaceful looking site.
Love this!
the music is to loud
A very moving and well made video. Thank You for posting this. I also compliment you on your policy of deleting snide remarks. Other sites should practice your policy.
I wouldn't go to a c.s.a. cemetery if you paid me.. The c.s.a. stood for HATRED, PREJUDICE & BIGOTRY.... If I want to learn more about the c.s.a. I'll read about it in a history book... Take the statues and the memorials down out of the public domain in the U.S.A... It's not erasing history it's about not HONORING something that was very wrong to begin with.. Like I said read about it in a history book if you need to know more about this dishonorable faction that existed in our nation's history..
What County is this in? Thanks
This is in Greenbrier County
@@welcometowv thank you I have low vision and it's difficult to read Wikipedia. I spent some time in Pendleton county and thought the entire area was fascinating.
I pray this sacred ground stays safe from any and all threats 🙏
WTF... People get up in arms with people flying a Confederate Battle Flag, but they aren't upset about the National Colors of the Confederacy flying at this Cemetery. That would be like having Cemeteries in Poland that have German Dead from WWII allowing the German Third Reich National Flag and Nazi Flags flying at one. Just saying.

There is a Cemetary at Stones River. All the white markers lined up like soldiers. There is another mass grave of several hundred soldiers with barely a marker. One plaque for several hundred men. The spoils of war only are extended to the victor.
nice
Just went camping up here!
Been going in that area to deer hunt for 51 years . Love that area of the state. Senica state forest, Cloverlick, stony Bottom, Thomas mountain and the scenic Highway to name a few. Thanks for the video!
Beautiful. My parents were born and raised in west Virginia.
The New River Gorge Bridge seems to get all of the glory, but this bridge actually provides those afraid of heights with an even more uncomfortable experience. The barriers along the side are much shorter than the New River Gorge Bridge has and it is much easier to see over the edge while driving across it.
Just kill me then 😂
How far out did you have to go for the cod and dogfish? Normally those are out 20 miles. I have great luck catching stripers on live mackerel. Nice video 👍
Thanks for watching. We were 20-25 miles offshore. We did manage to catch a few whiting out there but the weather was rough and my wife got tired of fighting dogfish haha, so we opted to come back inland and catch a few stripers on live mackerel.
Nice Video!
Love Watoga and the Greenbrier River would love to get back before I call it a day. Calvin Price State Forest is right there. Go have a blast we did.
We love Sandstone Falls. Every time we go to Pipestem, we visit the falls. After we found out about the eagle nest, we look for it too. We've seen the eagles several times.
I love Beartown!
Where'd you get the wood from?
We have a local supplier in WV that I just found. He's got several slabs of wood...some dried, some still green. Many folks here have sawmills and have decent buys on their slabs.
Nice video. Lake Moomaw is not far away, as we can see.
What an amazing site and explanation!
Grew up on Pembroke Rd, rised on that mountain! Now here I sit in Alabama. SMH :( Great Video, thanks for sharing!
Good morning, Wow~very amazing footage.see you on my side~Welcome~💥
Purr-fect soundtrack -creates a direct pathway thru the ages, and into eternity ...ancestral landscapes full of bluegrass ...or is it green ... ( ? ) pastures ...
Nice video, thanks for making it. One correction though, PFC McDonald was not from Beckley, he was from the Roderfield area in McDowell County.
I stand corrected. My original research showed Beckley. I dug some more this afternoon, and the information from the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, PFC McDonald was born in Avondale, in McDowell County. I honestly attempt to do my research and I managed to miss that. Thank you so much for the correction. I love our covered bridges. It's nice when they are maintained. Thank you for sharing.
Just went to Rocky Mountain National Park 2 days ago the damage is very sad to see 😢

It is much prettier when there are leaves on the trees and especially in the fall. About 2-3 weeks earlier it would have been beautiful.
It was still beautiful. :) It's hard to beat the colors of fall, but you definitely have to catch them just right. That is a great little park. If my travels take me to that part of Iowa again, I'll definitely do more exploring there. Thank you for watching!
