Outdoor wall light fails, AGAIN! How to replace a failed light!
In this video I replace a faulty LED Path light that just stopped working.
I have 3 lights in total illuminating the steps up the driveway and i've had to replace various ones on and off since i installed them a few years ago.
The reviews on the lights are not the best but i've never really found any better ones, yet, to replace them, so i just go like for like at the moment.
Even though only one light failed, I did change all 3 of them because i could only source a 4000K one and the ones installed are 3000K, so i could iave 2 lights one colour and 1 another! ha.
Thanks for watching and remember, please like the video and subscribe to the channel if you haven't done so already!

Repairing a wooden driveway gate - DIY
Переглядів 1 тис.Рік тому
In this video I repair a top rail of my wooden driveway gate. The double gate is around 8 years old and has had the best wood treatments available on it over the years but has still started to rot in certain areas! This isn't a hardwood gate and is made from redwood. I'm looking to have new gates within a year or so, so this repair is just a fix until the time comes to change them. I used treat...
Laying concrete block pavers with sand and cement! - DIY
Переглядів 765Рік тому
In this video I FINALLY finish something i started almost a year ago! It's just a job i've been putting to the bottom of my DIY list! I started to tidy up the side of our drive in the back garden as it looked an eyesore with next doors old garage concrete slab on show. I decided to edge the drive with concrete block pavers and hide the old slab with some up ended utility concrete flags. Now it'...
Fitting a kitchen worktop upstand! - DIY!
Переглядів 10 тис.Рік тому
Ow do! In this video I fit an MDF laminate upstand to our newly installed kitchen worktop. We decided to add the upstand to give the worktop a more 'polished' look and the fact we'd never had an upstand before! :) A really easy job in the end and only took around 30 minutes to complete. I managed to cut an internal mitre for the join as the corner of the wall was only just past 45 degrees, to m...
How to fit a kitchen worktop - DIY!
Переглядів 1,3 тис.Рік тому
In this video I attempt to cut and fit a new kitchen worktop using the Trend kitchen worktop jig and router. I've never attempted anything like this before and after getting a quote or two from local joiners I decided to give it a go myself. I value the worth of trades people and their vast array of knowledge and expertise but for some reason I didn't fancy paying the £300 i'd been quoted. Purc...
How to repair a concrete fence post - DIY!
Переглядів 22 тис.2 роки тому
In this video I repair a concrete fence post using Toupret masonry filler. As well as repairing the fence posts, i did about 3 or 4, I changed the old waney lap fence panels for new feather edge boards, gave the posts a paint and also painted the gravel boards. Some of the waney lap panels, although not that old, we're a bit damaged and generally crap, hence the idea to change them. I decided t...
Restoring a 1940s handmade engineers tools box | Shed Life | Episode 4
Переглядів 2702 роки тому
In this video I restore and cleanup my Great-Grandads 1940s engineers wooden tool box, that i found a few weeks ago in my Grandads garden shed. The box is made from plywood and was heavily soiled with oil and many years of dirt and general grime. It also appeared to be finished with some kind of varnish that had flaked off over the years. To clean up the box I scrapped off any of the old varnis...
Restoring vintage engineers tools | Shed Life | Episode 3

Ow-do!! In this video i restore some newly discovered engineers tools. After tidying out my Grandad's garden shed we came across a lovely little wooden box containing my Great Grandad's engineering tools. All a bit rusty and the box a bit mucky i decided to tidy the tools up and get them back to looking their best! Had a GoPro melt down again this week, so the video isn't ended as i'd hoped, so...
How to add cooling for a Shelly Plus 1PM - DIY!
Переглядів 2,3 тис.2 роки тому
In this video I install a 5V fan to help cool my shelly relay that's installed in an adaptable box in our loft. Apologies for not getting the entire video filmed as i would have liked, it was a very hot day and the GoPro decided to have a melt down and not work! The Shelly device monitors its own temperature and doesn't get anywhere near the shutdown levels of 90 degrees celsius (203f), but I t...
How to install an outdoor socket - DIY!
Переглядів 4,2 тис.2 роки тому
Installation of an outdoor Click AquIP weatherproof socket. I installed the socket to be used mainly for house lights at Christmas time and maybe the odd time i use the pressure washer. Remember, i'm not a qualified electrician but i am competent at installing the odd bit of hardware like this. When Sean, my electrician comes in a few weeks, i'll ask him to give the connections a once over if h...

Good job, whats is the post paint called please? The link does not work. Thanks
Zinsser Allcoat!
Great video. I want to replace an existing upstand and the one you did is exactly the one I need. I have been trying to source one for a long time and indeed, I managed to buy one which is a different although in the pictures it looked the same! Can you tell me where you got it from please? Thanks, Paul
I got mine from Savoy Timber in Wigan. They do deliver.
@@thegingershedman Many thanks.
What amperage is circuit breaker?
The RCBO is 32A, I think.
Good video will try it. Has product got any flexibility in it, with being epoxy? I have brake on gate hinge point? Any suggestions, can't replace post. 👍
Not much flex really. It’s pretty solid.
Great video. Thank you. It would have been nice at the end to see a picture of them working at night.
I can do that! Leave it with me!
A couple of photos of the lights on the community tab now! Thanks for your feedback!
Make it look easy
Hi wondering if any 1 can help me. I have old year (2000’s) concrete posts with the 6ft concrete slats/panels in them I hate them I won’t to try put the roof Barton’s across it but I think the post have reinforced steel in (video your doing a repair on ) I don’t no if the newer one do now also I tried to to a test hole with my SDS an it was struggling even the noise wasn’t right I don’t no if I was hitting the steel but any tips or help would be much appreciated 👍🏻✌🏻
Hi! Thanks for your comment. I'm no expert but i would guess there's steel bar in most concrete posts. You could very well be hitting a steel bar, are you drilling in the middle or to the sides of the post? If it was me, i'd install some wooden posts to take the weight of the fence battens you're attempting to install, this not overly burdening the concrete posts with extra weight.
@@thegingershedman nice one mate I appreciate the reply. I tired to drill into the centre I will try again on the sides. It’s a mess mate my back wall massive tree long story if I could start from fresh I would I just want it for privacy that’s all. 👍🏻👍🏻
That is impressive 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thanks for this, just what I was after! What type of sand paper did you use?
Thanks! I think I used just a general wet and dry. I also used a rasp too and I think a tile file. You can texture it too if needed. 👍🏻
@@thegingershedman having googled now I thought your rasp had some sort of odd sand paper on it 🤣
Thanks for the video, my friend. Just what I needed to see as I've a few damaged posts that I was considering a wooden wrap around. But this is far better.
Can I drill into this once it has set ??
I'm not 100% sure. There are several different options of this brand, maybe one would withstand drilling but I wouldn't say the one I used necessarily would. Thanks for the comment!
Would they be OK in a van? Or would bolts fly everywhere
I'd say probably not suitable for a van.
these clicky braces to protect the plastic cups from falling out will stop working after a while, but one can just push it down below the regulat snap in, so even if its broken it will still work ^^
Don't knock the cheapo Screwfix specials... 😅. I just fitted one recently 😂
lovely work 👌🏼
Cheers boss!
Nice to see the master at work again
Thank you Sir!
Lovely chisel action 😍
haha!
THERE HE IS!
Thank you just the advice I needed, and i’m from Wigan LOL
Up the Wiganers! Thanks for your comment!
Found it alot easier to use the incremental step depth thing in the bottom right to increase the depth instead of loosening and tightening the depth stop every time. Handy little feature.
WHERE IS THE RUBBER GASKET
I DIDN'T PUT IT ON
Great buddy, always slurry the back of any block though to provide better adhesive to the cement mix! 🫡
Yup, great point! I agree but as this will get no footfall or anything like, it's behind the bin store, I decided to just wet the blocks as it was super hot that day. Thanks for the comment though! 👍🏻
Yea boy 💪🏼
Cheers Daz!!
That’s an awesome video man! The editing is sick!!
Cheers mate!! Appreciate that!
Dayummmmm someone’s been learning video editing 🤤
You know it 🤣
skills 👌🏼
Cheers boss
1/2 inch bit!!
Thanks! 😂
Amazing, off to screw fix tomorrow. Thank you.
Great stuff!!
Great job, really neat finish and well explained video. Thanks for uploading 👍🏼
Cheers! Thanks for the feedback!
Looks good 👍
You should put an intake hole in it otherwise where does it get airflow from?
There is one. Thanks for your comment! 👍🏻
Those sockets are beautifully level with the upstand and each other! Props to whoever fitted those!
Yes mate. You should take notes 😂
Good video Dean, not something id want to do myself, ive not got the patience!
Cheers boss! Was bricking it at first 😂
Well that was an ace job Deano fair play I would never have the balls to do that 👏
Cheers you leg end. 👍🏻
Brilliant video dude 😍 well worth the wait 👀😅
Cheers buddy!
Nice one Ginger, made a good job there.
Cheers! 👌🏻
Nice work, don’t think it’s something I’d attempt, I’d definitely mess it up.
thanks, I need these for veterinary storage and this was super helpful and amusing.
Glad it was helpful!
The plastic clips snap on to the back of the holders to connect then sideways.
How strong is this product as l have a post broken at the base and the wind now rocks it
It's strong but not sure it's strong enough to cope with that kind of damage.
Can you drill into it once set?
Hi. What kind of fan did you install? Where did you feed her? Thanks
Hi! I used a Noctua fan. It's powered via a USB connection.
OK. Thanks
Thanks for doing this. I've got a few to repair and I wasn't sure what product to use. 👍
Glad to help
@@thegingershedman Did it last week, turned out better than I expected. 👌
@@GeeWhizRS Nice one. It's good stuff, there are other products but i find this one the best. As i've painted our posts, you can hardly tell there's been a repair. Thanks for watching!
Is postcrete any good for repairs like this?
Some cable clips would make the cables in the loft neat. Also top surface of an enclosure has to be IP4X but sides can be IP2X so maybe fit it to the side to meet regulations
Thanks for the feedback!
Lovely job that Deano 👏 I never even knew that was possible 😂
Cheers boss!! Anything is possible! 😁
It's a bit low. Don't bash it with a mower or something.
A mower? How would I do that, I've no grass? 😂 Thanks for watching!
@@thegingershedman Any heavy object. Your boot, anything. I mean its vulnerable that low
Thanks for your concern but honestly it's fine. Never once been kicked, knocked, fallen over, dog peed on etc but I'll keep my eye on it 👍🏻
@@thegingershedman No concern from me. Just an observation. Having said that, when/if you sell the house the new owners will also have a very low outside socket to avoid. If it were me, I'd have also run upward to a less vulnerable, easier to access height. But I'm not you, your decision, your choice, just an observation.
Yup, cheers 👍🏻
where do you see the temp graph?
Directly in Home Assistant
Nice little trick that tbf 👌🏼 didn’t know about that stuff, Im sure I’ll find a use for it now tho.
Looks great dude! :)
Cheers mate! Means a lot you commenting.
Can tell you’re not a electrician…….we only use red rawl plugs not yellow 👍🏻😂
All I had at the time! 😁
Nice job 😎
Thanks 😁
