I am so glad I found this video. It describes my husband pretty well. He is the most wonderful person I know, yet he struggles so much with what I believe is PDA that he fails to see how amazing he is for real. I have Asperger's and have always felt like he is on the spectrum too. This helps understand a bit more. Thanks so much!
Myself and other PDAautistics have described it as feeling like we've perpetrated a particularly harmful brand of ABA upon ourselves, internally. Because we mask so well, we don't identify our masking... When we seek "control" it is because we don't feel we have any reality without feedback mirroring that our "masking" is working, sort of.... So we become dependent on where our masks give us the most feedback... We become "prompt dependent" but somewhat manage to mask independence and competence.... But the mask of course falls off time to time and we panic... We don't want anyone to know... The most major internalized ableism and imposter syndrome...
